Hu Yixian continued to pinch Qin i’s ear, seeming to thoroughly enjoy it.
He responded to Qin Ruan in a rather leisurely tone: “My family has been dealing with these demons for years, so we’re very familiar with them.”
Seeing Hu Yixian caressing his son’s ear, Qin Anguo’s eyes welled up with warmth.
Unable to resist, he stretched out and pinched the other ear of Qin i’s, gently rubbing it.
Qin i yelped out, “Dad!”

Raising an eyebrow, Hu Yixian had a mischievous look on his face.
He suggested, “Uncle, if you’re interested, I can leave this ear for you to play with later.”
Qin i’s face turned dark, then greenish, and then reddish.
It was a riot of colors.
Looking at the crying face of his younger son, Qin Anguo embarrassedly said, “Never mind, Yiyan, could you please help Ai?
School is starting soon, I’m afraid he won’t be able to leave the house.”
“No problem!”
With that, Hu Yixian let go of Qin i’s ear .
Next, he pressed down hard on Qin i’s head.

Qin i turned deathly pale and his expression was twisted in pain.
His face was covered in a cold sweat, which dripped onto the floor.
The pain made his muscles tense, moaning lowly in distress.
Under the watchful eyes of Qin Ruan, Qin Anguo, and Qin Jingcen, Qin i’s flowing hair mysteriously shortened and his ears disappeared at a rate that could be detected with the naked eye.
While the ti ticked by, Hu Yixian was not relieved either, his face becoming sweaty.
After Qin i’s hair returned to its usual short length and the fuzzy cute cat ears on his head completely disappeared, Hu Yixian finally withdrew his hand.
The mont he took back his hand, he staggered back.
Qin Jingcen stepped forward to support him and inquired anxiously, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Pointing at Qin i, Hu Yixian, panting, gave his advice in an unsteady voice: “Qin i should stay in for the next few days.
He might be weak for a while.”
Qin Anguo responded in a grave tone: “Don’t worry, Yiyan.
I won’t let this brat step a foot outside before school starts.”
While his father and elder brother were concerned about Hu Yixian, Qin Ruan crouched down by her little brother’s side, supporting his limp body.
“Are you okay, Second Brother?”
Qin i felt his strength drain away in an instant, so much so that he couldn’t even walk.
He touched his short hair on his head, not finding the humiliating cat ears anymore, and finally his heart returned to its rightful place in his stomach.
He gave Qin Ruan a reassured and satisfied smile: “I’m fine, I couldn’t possibly be any better.”
Qin Ruan chuckled, “Can you stand up?
I’ll help you upstairs to rest.”
“Yeah.”
With Qin Ruan’s help, Qin i slowly rose from the ground.
The two siblings went upstairs without bidding the others goodbye.
Seeing the weak state Qin i was in, Qin Ruan couldn’t help but feel an aching heart.
She didn’t miss a single detail of Hu Yixian’s thod of forcefully absorbing the demon power left in her second brother by the two-tailed Cat Demon.
As he absorbed the demon power, he was actually absorbing the life force from her brother.
Qin Ruan regretted letting him get involved.
Hu Yixian had chosen the most ruthless thod.
She would rather have gone to find the two-tailed Cat Demon if she could.
After Qin i was settled in his room upstairs, Qin Ruan did not leave.
She sat by the bed, holding her brother’s hand, slowly delivering the Nether Divine Power into his body.

In the spacious hall, only Qin Anguo and Qin Jingcen were left.

Qin Ruan walked over: “Dad, Big Brother, where is Hu Yixian?”
A complicated expression flickered across Qin Anguo’s face and he answered, “He wasn’t feeling well, so I sent him to rest in the guest room.
How is Ai?”
“Your second brother has fallen asleep.”
Sensing that sothing was off, Qin Ruan knit her brows.
Qin Anguo stood up: “The servants made so food in the kitchen before they left.
You guys can have sothing to eat.
I’m going upstairs first.”
He hurried away, as if running away from sothing.
Qin Ruan stood in place, looking at a loss, not knowing what had happened.
“What happened, Big Brother?”
A complicated expression crossed Qin Jingcen’s handso face, and he patted the seat next to him and said in a low voice, “Co sit.”
Clearly, there was sothing important to discuss.
As Qin Ruan sat next to Qin Jingcen, she couldn’t help but ask hesitantly, “What’s wrong with dad?
Is it related to Hu Yixian?”
Qin Jingcen nodded and said solemnly, “Yes.

He couldn’t bear the pain of losing mom.

Feeling a tumult of emotions, Qin Ruan asked, “And then?”

Overwheld with emotions, Qin Ruan recalled her father’s trust in Hu Yixian,and thought for sure that, “It must have been successful otherwise dad wouldn’t have trusted Hu Yixian that much.”
Qin Jingcen nodded, “Yes, since then, dad has lived for only two reasons: to find you, and to take care of and Ai.”
From the children’s perspective, their father didn’t believe in gods or spirits and they never expected him to use a séance out of longing for their mother.
Such an act would drain the lifespan of the person who used it.
Qin Ruan found it hard to believe that her father wasn’t aware of this.
Staring hard at Qin Ruan, Qin Jingcen suddenly asked, “Ruanruan, is mom still here?”
“No.”
No hesitation could be sensed in Qin Ruan’s tone as she dismissed his hopeful look.
