Chapter 1171: Embracing Her

Huo Yani had lived for so long, but in the end, she had obtained nothing.

Tang Mo’er stood at the window for a long while until it was late at night. The rain continued pattering outside.

A lodious cell phone ring tone sounded as she received an incoming call. She picked up her phone and saw that the call was from Mr. Gu.

He was calling her.

Her long lashes quivered and she answered the call. “Hello?”

A maid’s voice could be heard from the other end of the call. “Sir, your clothes are wet. Please dry yourself with this.”

Gu Mohan did not say a word.

The call was still on but he remained silent.

Tang Mo’er could almost hear his breaths. It ca in slow puffs, calm and clear. She felt as though there was soone squeezing her heart as it throbbed. “How... how are you holding up?”

...

Thousands of miles away, the Gu Family Residence in the Capital.

The assistant Yan Dong walked upstairs carrying a bowl of warm ginger soup brewed by the maids. Old Master Gu and President Gu’s father had passed away so shortly after one another.

President Gu had to rush back to organize the funeral and take control of the Gu Family. There had been no ti for him to catch a breath at all.

Now, President Gu had just co back, drenched from the rain.

The maids had all been working for the Gu Family for a long ti. Their hearts went out to the Young Master and they quickly brewed a bowl of ginger soup for him the mont he ca back.

Yan Dong walked over to his door and raised his hand to knock on it, before realizing that the door wasn’t closed.

He looked around the half-open door to look inside. The European style room was in pitch-black darkness. A tall figure was standing in front of the windows.

Gu Mohan stood there with one hand in his pocket, the other holding a phone up to his ear. The rain had completely drenched his trousers and he seed unnaturally cold.

Yan Dong’s heart throbbed. He had a sudden revelation that President Gu had been alone all these years.

Now the entire Gu Family rested on his shoulders. The imminent rger of C.T and the Gu Family business was definitely going to bring about another period of busyness.

Yan Dong stood at the door and didn’t enter the room. He guessed that the President was probably calling Madam.

As Gu Mohan listened to the sounds being transmitted through the call, his brows furrowed gently. “Mo’er.”

He was calling her.

Tang Mo’er’s eyes suddenly reddened. She clutched her phone tightly. After losing his father and grandfather, she could imagine how he felt as vulnerable as a child now.

Everyone had their own weakness which made them... even more lovable.

Mo’er humd in response.

“Could you fly over to now to be by my side? I just want to hug you. Just for a little while.”

A glistening tear fell from her eye as Tang Mo’er reached up to wipe it away.

She was crying.

She was feeling unbearably sad and was crying for him.

Sorry...

At such an important ti of his life, when he needed soone to be with him, she couldn’t be there.

She wanted to go back to him.

But...

She looked at her small face in the mirror. Her once youthful face was now filled with wrinkles. In a single night, she had aged so much.

Day after day, she was getting older.

She didn’t have any courage to leave the house anymore.

Let alone see him.

He was waiting for her reply but was only t with her silence after a long while. Gu Mohan’s lips curved up slowly as he said in a voice laced with impatience and love, “Forget it.”

Forget it.

He had told her to forget it.

Tang Mo’er reached up to press her hands against her mouth. She was afraid that she would make a sound while crying and he would hear it.

Her Mr. Gu was too sensitive when it ca to her.

How could she possibly tell him at this ti that there was no antidote for AR and that she was going to leave him soon?

If she were to leave one day, what was he going to do?

“Mo’er, I’m going to be very busy for a while and won’t be able to fly over to look for you anymore. But I can rest assured since you’re with Lu Yeming.”

With that, he paused and said, “Alright then, sleep early. Good night.”

Tang Mo’er raised her tear-filled eyes and said softly, “Alright.”

“You hang up first,” he said.

Tang Mo’er suddenly smiled. There was only one person in the world who could make her feel warm, even when she was crying miserably.

Alright, I’ll hang up first.

She hung up.

Tang Mo’er held her phone in her hand as she gazed at the rain outside. Tonight was going to be a sleepless night.

This was their first parting.

...

Jun Xiqing was in the room when two knocks ca from the door. A maid standing outside said, “I’m here to clean the room up”

“Co in.”

The room door was opened and a young, pretty maid entered.

“Elder Sister Qingqing,” the maid said as she stepped forward to hold her hand.

“Ah Xiao, what are you doing here?”

Jun Xiqing had been brought up by Jun Mosheng ever since she was a kid. When she was outside as a kid, she had seen a brother and his younger sister begging in the streets and had brought them back to the President’s residence.

The brother was Ah Da and was her shadow. He was a commander who was well-trained in martial arts. His sister was Ah Xiao. She was only 18 and was a sweet girl, even if she had been born to be mischievous.

Now Ah Xiao was here as a maid in the West Palace.

All these years, Ah Da had followed behind her and was her most trusted confidant. She had naturally treated Ah Xiao like her biological sister and loved her a lot.

“Elder Sister Qingqing, I’m here to assist you.” Ah Xiao blinked owlishly at her.

“Rubbish!” Jun Xiqing scolded her. “This is the West Palace, not sowhere you can play around. You don’t know anything, leave this place at once! I’ll worry to death if you’re caught! How am I supposed to answer to Ah Da then?”

Ah Xiao lowered her head as she realized her mistake. “Alright, Elder Sister Qingqing. I’ll leave then.”

Ah Xiao turned and left.

...

Ah Xiao walked out of the room and down the stairs, ready to leave.

At this mont, the doors opened. A slim figure entered. It was Lu Yeming.

“Young Master, you’re back?”

A maid knelt down to help Lu Yeming change his shoes.

Ah Xiao couldn’t tear her gaze from Lu Yeming’s face. She had never seen soone so beautiful before.

Lu Yeming was in a custom-made white shirt and black trousers, a classic look. He was born beautiful and every line on his body had been carefully carved by god. There was an aura of elegance surrounding him.

Ah Xiao was dumbfounded. Was this the legendary West Duke, Lu Yeming?

Lu Yeming changed his shoes and walked upstairs. He looked at Ah Xiao’s small face. Expressionless, his gaze shifted away after a short glance.

Their shoulders brushed past each other.

“Ouch!”

At this mont, Ah Xiao exclaid as her small figure tumbled into Lu Yeming’s embrace.

Lu Yeming didn’t reject her and reached out to hold her slim waist, pulling her into his arms.

Ah Xiao blinked as she stared, red-faced, at Lu Yeming and quickly stood up. “I’m sorry, Young Master.”

She wanted to get out of his embrace.

At this mont Lu Yeming’s arms tensed and she fell straight into his exquisite chest.
