Just as these two finished the talk, they heard a sound at the entrance of the gallery, A tal vase placed at the one corner near the wall was moved and made a sound.
It alerted them and both stepped to see who was there but there was no one. They looked at the vase, and it was a bit moved out from its original place. As there was no one and the whole corridor was empty, Lu Jinhai said, "It must be wind or a cat or we must have imagined it."
"Hmm!" Although Lu Qiang agreed with his father, his eyes were searching to see if there was actually soone who heard their conversation. Not being able to see anyone, he gave up and both father and son went to their rooms after wishing good night to each other.
On the other side of the sa floor, in the north wing...
A woman walked in a hurry, entered inside the room and closed the door. She looked as if she had a shock of her life. A man sleeping on the bed woke up with the sound of the door closing and seeing the woman who looked as if she saw a ghost, he asked, "What happened, Su Hui?"
Stepping towards the bed with her slow steps, she walked towards the bed trying to calm herself down and not letting her husband know that she had heard sothing that might change their lives. As the room was not brightened with light and only the night lamp was on, Lu Chen couldn’t see her expressions clearly, given his sleepy eyes.
Sitting on the edge of the bed while facing her back to him, she replied, "Nothing, I just walked in a hurry so caught the breath."
"Hmm! Where did you go?" he asked.
"I could not sleep so thought to have a small walk," she replied trying to keep her voice normal as much as she could.
"Are you fine now?" He asked again.
"Hmm!" she nodded as she didn’t want her husband to know about it.
"Sleep then." He said.
"I need to use the bathroom. You sleep, I will be back in soti."
Though she was talking, every word from her throat was coming out with an effort. She felt as if her throat was choked and there was sothing heavy kept on her chest. She wanted to cry but not a single tear ca out of her eyes.
"Okay!" Saying, Lu Chen closed his eyes.
Su Hui went to the bathroom and stood up in front of the mirror in the bathroom which was above the washbasin. So many thoughts going through her mind that were creating chaos and making her feel lost.
Sotis before, when Su Hui went out of the room and thought to walk in the corridor for a while, she noticed Lu Qiang and Lu Jinhai were in the gallery. She didn’t intend to eavesdrop but few words from them and the way both father and son looked serious; she stopped and heard everything that they talked about.
’My husband is not the blood of Lu. How can that be? He is the son of one ordinary worker. They deceived , and my parents by making marry the adopted son. I am nobody. I am the wife of a commoner who lived under the rcy of rich people.’
There were, so many emotions filled her heart, anger, disappointnt, a feeling of being deceived, worry about the future of her sons and so on. She splashed the water on her face again and again in the hope to clear her mind but there was no use. The more she tried, the more it troubled her. The new thoughts coming in her mind with every passing mont.
For a mont she thought about her husband and hated him thinking he deceived her but suddenly a realization struck her. ’He is my husband and this can’t make hate him. He is the father of my children, and I love him too. Moreover, he didn’t know about anything. It was the fault of his parents’
Not being able to hate him, she felt more frustrated.
’What about my kids? If this thing leaked out, then what would happen to them. The world would look at them as they have grown up under soone else’s shelter. Till now no one knew about it and they treated us like their own, but what will happen now as Lu Qiang knows about it. Till the elders are alive, everything would be fine but what if in future he abandons my sons using all his power?’
A picture of her sons and daughter being abandoned by Lu Qiang flashed in front of her eyes.
’I can’t let this happen with my children. For , they are the Lus and they deserve to get everything that Lu Qiang has and what Lu Lijun will get.’
She felt worried about the future when adults won’t be around and Lu Qiang would hold all the power in his hands. She knew Lu Qiang was a good person, and she trusted him, but she couldn’t trust the ti that could change any mont. What if he would consider her sons as an outsider and ask them to leave the family? Not only that but what kind of a sha it will bring to her son’s. Who would accept them and who would want to be with them knowing they are not the Lu’s.
Exhaling out of her mouth, she spoke to herself while looking at the reflection in the mirror. ’I should do sothing so that my son would get a higher position in the company and no one would ever dare to abandon them or look down at them even if the secret from the past cos out. I need to talk to them both and I have to be like a strict mother. If they won’t listen to , I have my ways to make them do it. They will hate now but in the future, they will understand that I did it for their own good."
