1617 Back Ho
In the following days, the business world was in an uproar due to the aggressive decisions from the Lu Corporation. Lu Lijun managed to silence anyone who attempted to betray Lu Corporation by siding with its enemies. He had to make tough decisions regarding various projects, partner companies, and those who had betrayed the company. In the process, Lu Corporation suffered losses as well, but the new plans they implented helped the company recover.
Lu Lijun broke away from the traditional approach and applied bold and risky strategies, striking deals with new partners who were eager to work with Lu Corporation. This left all the old partners stunned and frightened. For his daring decisions, Lu Lijun was becoming famous in the business world; so praised him, while others criticized him for risking the company's interests.
During that entire month, he barely returned ho, as if his only focus was achieving victory in whatever he was planning. The entire family was worried about him. While Lu Jinhai tried to reassure them, Ning Jiahui couldn't shake off her motherly concern. They asked Jiang Yuyan to return ho so they could talk to her.
"Only you can approach him, Yuyan. It's been a month since any of us have seen him," Ning Jiahui said, while the other family mbers remained quiet. "When I visited the office a few tis, he wasn't there. Bring him back ho at least once, so we can be assured that he's alright."
"Mother," Jiang Yuyan hesitated, "It's been a week since I last saw him. He's been on business trips and is always busy. I don't know how to stop him either."
"He listens to you. Try sothing and bring him back ho," Ning Jiahui insisted, looking anxious. "Or my heart won't be at peace. These days, I've been having so bad feelings, just like…" she stopped, "Just bring him back ho."
Seeing how worried Ning Jiahui was, Jiang Yuyan could only agree. She herself had been feeling worried and anxious lately, but she tried to reassure herself that everything was fine.
"Hello," Noah answered.
"Where is Lijun?"
"He's busy in a eting," Noah replied. "I'll ask him to call you back once he's free."
Jiang Yuyan humd in acknowledgnt and then asked, "How is he? Is he taking care of his health?"
"He's fine. I'm making sure he eats and sleeps on ti, even though he can be stubborn sotis."
"Thank you. I'll wait for his call." She hung up, hoping Lu Lijun would call soon. He rarely called these days, but when he did, he always expressed concern for her and reminded her to take care, even though he wasn't around to do so himself.
After half an hour, she received a call from Lu Lijun. His voice sounded tired and hoarse as he spoke. "Noah told you called. Is everything alright?"
She humd softly, "I just wanted to hear your voice."
"I'm sorry for neglecting you."
"It's alright. I know you're busy," she replied gently. "When are you coming back?"
"In a day or two, once I finish the work."
"I'll wait for you, then."
He humd in response.
Just as Jiang Yuyan was about to hang up, she heard a woman's voice in the background, "Mr. Lu, here is your dinner."
"Who was that?" Jiang Yuyan asked.
"One of the employees here, you could say a secretary."
"Since when did you need one?" Jiang Yuyan asked, her voice no longer gentle. "Where is Noah?"
"He had to leave the office to attend to so important matters."
"Are you still in the office at this hour?"
"Hmm."
"And the employees?"
"Their working hours are over."
"But not for your secretary?"
"She's just finishing her work since I'm still here. I will send her ho soon."
Jiang Yuyan frowned. "I see."
"You don't have to worry. She's—"
"I didn't ask," Jiang Yuyan interrupted angrily. "No wonder you haven't called much since you went there."
"Yuyan—"
Beep…Beep…Beep…
She had already hung up, leaving Lu Lijun stunned. He dialed her number a few more tis, but she didn't answer.
Lu Lijun then called for his secretary.
"Yes, Mr. Lijun?" A woman in formal attire—a white shirt, black pencil skirt, and heels—entered the office.
"Arrange for to return ho imdiately," he instructed.
"But tomorrow, you have an important eting," the secretary reminded him dutifully.
"Sothing more important has co up. Reschedule the eting or set it up as a video conference. Noah will be here to handle my work."
"Yes, Mr. Lijun."
The next morning, Lu Lijun landed in the city and went straight to the Lu Mansion. The mont he entered the drawing room, everyone was surprised to see him.
"Lu Lijun?"
His eyes scanned the room, and he asked the servant, "Where is Yuyan?" He didn't notice anyone else in the room, clearly in a hurry.
Just then, Jiang Yuyan appeared at the top of the stairs. Lu Lijun quickly hurried up the few steps and hugged her tightly, taking everyone by surprise.
What had happened so suddenly to make him look so worried?
"Yuyan, it's not what you think. You know I only have eyes for you," Lu Lijun mumbled.
Jiang Yuyan let him hold her. "The family is here."
He didn't care. "That secretary..."
"Why would I bother myself with a re secretary?" she replied coolly.
Lu Lijun let her go and looked into her eyes. She wasn't angry; she looked at him as if wondering what he was even talking about.
"You didn't answer my calls. I thought..."
"Just like you, I can be busy too. We could always talk later when I was free."
"You played ?" he asked.
"Can't I?"
"You," he said, pulling her closer and kissing her.
Yuyan hadn't expected it. The entire family, and even the servants, were present. "Lijun... the family..." she tried to stop him but failed.
When he finally let go, leaving her breathless, he whispered, "This is just the beginning of your punishnt. Just you wait," he warned, not caring that others could hear him.
She gasped, hiding her face behind him to avoid showing her embarrassnt.
"Mother asked to bring you back however I could. She was worried," he said, letting her hide against him.
"That doesn't spare you from your punishnt."
"First, go and et your mother," Jiang Yuyan said, turning around and heading upstairs. She didn't have the courage to face the family right after what had just happened. Tricking him into coming ho had resulted in her own embarrassnt.
