This revolver was now the standard issue weapon of the Combat Departnt.

It was simple to manufacture and powerful, almost perfectly eting the needs of the team mbers.

Liu Bing had been coveting a handgun long before he joined the Hunter Squad, and now that he finally had the chance to use one, he was naturally without the slightest hesitation.

The power of the handgun was indeed astonishing; just one shot had blown the head off of that unknown creature.

But the second shot missed entirely.

"Shit!"

Seeing what had happened, Liu Bing imdiately prepared to fire again.

But just as he raised the muzzle, the dark shadow in front of him had turned and darted into the bushes, vanishing in an instant.

At the sa ti, other Hunters had started to quickly retreat toward the gate.

He gritted his teeth and quickly followed suit.

"Don't panic!"

"Keep form!"

"Shield bearers move to the sides, everyone else watch the surroundings and cover your teammates!"

Lin Mo directed while keeping an eye on the situation around them.

His choice proved correct; letting these experienced scavengers beco Hunters was more than appropriate.

Even though these people originally belonged to three different teams, they still displayed a decent level of proficiency.

Even before his command, these people had already ford combat pairs or trios according to their daily habits, blocking all the enemies that suddenly appeared.

A dark shadow flitted through the grass like lightning.

Just when everyone thought it was going to leave, the shadow suddenly leapt up, vaulting over the shields and charging into the crowd!

"Spread out!"

"Don't let it scratch you!"

Lin Mo saw the skeletal, withered claws under the shadow and shouted loudly.

But so people still reacted a bit too slowly.

It was almost in the blink of an eye.

Two slightly pained cries rang out from the crowd.

Hearing soone was injured, the others imdiately beca more panicked, and without looking at the surrounding enemies, they turned to flee.

Seeing this, Lin Mo's heart sank suddenly.

Trouble was brewing.

Once the team beca disordered, everyone would instantly beco the prey of the enemy, and at that point, the newly ford Hunter Squad would definitely not survive.

His gaze sharply focused on the shadow in the middle that was still wildly scratching and biting.

He had to quickly deal with this monster!

"Old Cannon! Kiddo! Cover !"

Hearing Lin Mo's order, the two quickly understood his intention, and prepared to protect him as they charged over.

But just then, another figure had already rushed forward.

Gao Feng?

Lin Mo was surprised.

The woman moved extrely fast, and in the mont she charged, she used her left arm to knock the shadow to the ground. Before the enemy could respond, a short dagger had been stabbed into the back of its head.

The lifeless shadow turned into a puddle of mud, limp on the ground.

A bright light shone on it.

"What is this thing!"

"A monkey?"

What appeared before everyone's eyes was not any creature like a wild cat or dog.

It was a humanoid creature with all four limbs on the ground.

It was called a monkey, yet it had no tail.

Was it a human?

No, that's not right, it was a zombie!

Those long claws were clearly the tightly contracted fingers of its skin and flesh!

At the sa ti, several more of the sa creatures were cut down by Hunters covering the retreat, and their bodies were also in the shape of humans on all fours.

Apart from the shock, the panic in everyone's hearts had diminished quite a bit.

After all, fear cos from the unknown.

By now, they were less than ten ters from the factory gate.

However, the bizarre zombies that kept launching sneak attacks from all around had all disappeared at so point, leaving only a few corpses and two injured behind.

The empty courtyard fell silent once again as before.

The two wounded were quickly executed.

As it stood, there seed to be no order or possibility of restraint to the virus.

So, even though so of their companions felt reluctant, they could only watch as the two were shot in the head by their own team leaders.

After dealing with the bodies, Liu Bing and Gao Feng approached Lin Mo.

Both looked sowhat distressed.

"Captain, what do we do now?"

"Just go back like this?"

The death of team mbers was certainly depressing, but returning empty-handed seed even more embarrassing.

The Hunter Squad had just been established and now faced an inauspicious start.

Would they be able to hold their heads up in the future?

It would be difficult.

It was possible that the higher-ups would disband their team directly, as no one wanted to waste resources on a useless bunch.

Moreover, the zombies that appeared just now were clearly the mutants the company was after.

From the recent fight, it was clear they were far more dangerous than regular zombies, causing casualties of three people within just a few minutes.

Had there not been so few mutant zombies, they probably would have all died there.

For that reason, even though they were unwilling, the two did not dare suggest turning back to Lin Mo, lest they stir up the resistance of the rest of the team.

But Lin Mo showed no intention of lingering and turned to leave the courtyard.

The two vehicles they ca in were parked outside.

The two looked at each other and sighed together, it seed they were destined to return without any achievents.

If that factory manager surnad Du saw this, he'd probably not hold back his ridicule, and before long, the entire safety zone would likely know the shaful start of the Hunter Squad.

Just then, two beams of light suddenly shone in the distance.

Shortly after, soone shouted toward them, "What are you standing in the doorway for?"

"Get out of the way, quick!"

The person shouting was Lin Mo.

No sooner had his words faded, than the truck slowly drove towards the gate, speeding up until it finally ca to a stop inside the courtyard.

Lin Mo jumped out of the truck without a word and imdiately started working under it.

Seeing this, the two cheered up and hurried over.

"Captain, you're not planning on setting a trap here, are you?" asked Liu Bing, looking at him admiringly.

On the side, Gao Feng's eyes flashed with realization, her mind already grasping what was happening, but she frowned and asked, "If that's so, then there was really no need for the team to venture in just now."

Lin Mo glanced at her and shook his head, "How would we know if there was anything we wanted in there without going in?"

"You should take better care of your subordinates in the future."

"Impulsiveness often ruins things."

The two imdiately felt a bit embarrassed.

The four who went in earlier still hadn't returned.

Combined with the sudden appearance of a few mutant zombies, the conclusion was more than obvious.

But dwelling on it now clearly served no purpose.

Up to this point, they had suffered a loss of seven people without any achievents in return.

This was a result Lin Mo could not accept.

He had to take a gamble.

The transforr on the truck was directly connected to the vehicle's power supply.

As soon as the switch was turned on, the cage welded to the chassis would instantly reach a voltage of several hundred volts, comparable to so of the high-voltage grids in the safety zone.

The only issue left was how to lure out the mutant zombies once again.

As for whether everyone would end up dead after luring them out—

That would be left to fate.
