Lu Xun did not know what had happened but after he ca out from the Old Master Stong's study, Song Chen's gaze towards him had changed.
Sensing the older man's intense gaze on him made him anxious.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened and he could not stop thinking that Song Xing Xing's father was going to throw him out of the vehicle later.
A breath of relief escaped him once he had safely parked the vehicle into the garage.
Lu Xun watched as everyone entered the house and went back into their room.
Suddenly, a familiar fragrance entered his nose as his girlfriend was holding his arms tight. He turned around and found that the girl was smiling brightly at him.
"I helped to put on so good words for you earlier," Song Xing Xing said. She watched as her man raised a brow at her and laughed. "I had a chat with my dad at the old mansion earlier."
"What did you say to him?" Suddenly, he was curious. Lu Xun had a feeling that she had said sothing that made Song Chen look at him differently.
Song Xing Xing put on a mischievous smile on her face. "Of course it's nothing but good words. Don't ask. I won't tell you."
The corner of his lips started to twitch.
Really?
Then why does it feel as if her father was looking at him as if he was going to murder him and feed him to the fish?
Lu Xun had this urge to pinch the girl on the cheek to vent his frustration.
Fortunately for her, they were in her parents' house and he could not act recklessly.
Just then, the sound of footsteps could be heard coming from the stairs. The two of them turned around and subconsciously stepped away from each other when they saw the person.
"Why are you still not going back to your room and resting?" Song Chen asked. "Didn't you say that your flight to Capital City would be early in the morning?"
"Dad, it's still early. I'll go rest in a while."
Song Chen shifted his gaze at the two of them before he disappeared into the kitchen. A minute later, he ca out and frowned when he noticed that the two of them were still around in the living area.
"Xing Xing, just go to bed. Don't oversleep."
Song Xing Xing pouted. "Un. I know."
After exchanging a glance with Lu Xun, the two of them headed upstairs and went to their separate room.
Lu Xun entered his room and finally heaved a long sigh. Now that he was no longer within Song Chen's eyesight, Lu Xun could finally breathe easily.
He sat down on the mattress and took out his phone. After texting his girlfriend good night and urging her to sleep earlier, Lu Xun began to look around the room.
Just as he was about to get up and head over to the bathroom, the phone beside him started to buzz.
Lu Xun glanced at the screen and smiled upon seeing that it was his younger sister, Lu An Ran. He accepted the call and pressed the phone to his ear. "An Ran."
"Brother, you're at the Song's residence?" Lu An Ran did not bother with the pleasantries.
"Un."
"How is it going?"
Lu An Ran knew that the last ti that her brother had visited Song's residence, Song Xing Xing's father was not very enthusiastic about the idea of Lu Xun dating his daughter.
This ti, Lu An Ran hoped that there would be a change when her brother went to visit the Song family.
"Am I getting closer to getting myself a sister-in-law?" Lu An Ran joked.
Lu Xun chuckled. "Perhaps."
There was a long silence between the siblings as Lu An Ran had thought that she had probably misheard things. "Really."
"Well, other than her father, everyone else seed to have accepted as Xing Xing's boyfriend."
Lu An Ran felt a hint of pity towards her brother. "Brother, you have to work hard. From what I heard about her father, it seed that it would not be easy for you to win her father's approval. He probably thinks of you as his enemy now that you're trying to take his daughter away from him."
"I know." Lu Xun lowered his head and massaged the space between his brow with one hand.
"Back then, Professor Jia had a hard ti with our father as well." Lu An Ran began to tell her brother stories about how her husband had to suffer when he ca to their father to ask for their blessings for marriage.
Their father might like her husband but he still had a hard ti letting her go and watching her marry another man.
"It won't be easy. But if you work hard, Xing Xing's father will see your sincerity eventually," Lu An Ran spoke with a sigh.
A faint smile curled on his lips.
He also knew that he had to be patient.
But when Song Xing Xing appeared in his mind, Lu Xun knew that he could not wait any longer.
He wanted her. But he did not dare to go forward without her family's approval of their relationship. Song Xing Xing is that important to him.
Lu Xun wondered if this thinking might be a little silly.
"Right, brother, I forget to tell you sothing."
His brow rose up.
"Mom called earlier today. The line coverage over there was good for a few minutes and we talked for a while. She said that this ti, dad's research might end up earlier. They're planning to return to C Country soon."
His eyes lit up upon hearing the news. "You didn't ntion anything about , right?"
Lu An Ran laughed. "Of course not. I'll let you break the news to them yourself. "
A faint smile appeared on his face. Lu Xun wondered how would his parents react when he ntioned Song Xing Xing to them.
The two siblings chatted for a while and finally hung up as Lu An Ran had to go and prepare lunch for her son.
As he still could not fall asleep, Lu Xun decided to look at his emails. After going through a few docunts, his ears picked up the sound of soone knocking at the door.
He waited for a while and only walked over to the door once he was convinced that soone was knocking at the door.
The door swung open and he found the old butler was standing in front of him.. "Mister Lu, the master is asking you to see him in his office."
