After spending around two weeks with her family in Y City during the festivity, Song Xing Xing finally returned to Capital City. The first thing she did was to pick up Mr. Fluffball from the cat hotel. The mont she showed up, the fat, gray cat looked at her with a hint of resentnt.
Song Xing Xing brought the cat ho and fed the cat with his favorite wet food.
The mont he slled the food, the gray cat seed to forget his grievance. He ate his food happily before he went to curl on his favorite sofa.
Song Xing Xing cleaned up the house a little bit and lay down on her bed. She reached to grab her phone and saw that she got a ssage from Producer Ming, who reminded her to co to the studio on Monday.
At the thought that she was going to start her work at the new place in a few days, Song Xing Xing had mixed feelings. It was exciting that she was going to start a new job at the new studio, but the thought that her sleeping hours are going to turn crazy again made her a little dispirited.
Just as she had finished replying to the producer, a call ca in.
Song Xing Xing saw the na on her screen and hesitated before she decided to answer.
"Xing Xing!" Bai Zhi's cheery voice was heard on the other line. "Are you back in Capital City?"
"Mhm…"
"That's great," Bai Zhi spoke quickly. "Xing Xing co out and let's go out and hang around together. I got a role for a new drama. Co out and let's celebrate."
Song Xing Xing glanced at the laundry bag she brought ho with her before she agreed to et up with Bai Zhi. A few seconds after their call ended, Bai Zhi sent her a ssage with the address of the restaurant and a reminder to dress up a little bit.
Seeing that Bai Zhi had requested to et at a luxury restaurant, Song Xing Xing complied and picked up a nice dress before she went out.
When she arrived, Bai Zhi was waiting for her outside the building. She saw her friend walking over and quickly grabbed Song Xing Xing in her arms.
"You look nice today," Bai Zhi complinted as she gave her friend a look over.
Song Xing Xing heaved a sigh. You already reminded to dress up a little. Besides, I was worried that the staff would not let enter this place when she saw that I was not dressed properly."
Bai Zhi flashed her a smile. "Co on. Let's go inside."
Song Xing Xing followed her friend to a private room upstairs and was surprised that there were a lot of people inside the room. Most of them were people from the entertainnt industry. There were producers, directors, and celebrities as well. Although she had never interacted with most of them, Song Xing Xing had seen them before and knew who they were.
"I thought that it's going to be just the two of us?" Song Xing Xing whispered and nudged at her friend's waist.
Bai Zhi shot her a look as if she was surprised. "Didn't I tell you? I did say that we are going to celebrate."
Song Xing Xing glanced around the room and saw that there were a few celebrities around as well.
"Don't be upset," Bai Zhi chuckled when she saw the unhappy look on Song Xing Xing's face. "I did this for you. I thought that you are still looking for a new job with a permanent position? Isn't this is a perfect opportunity for you to et everyone in the industry?"
Song Xing Xing bit her lips and recalled that she had kept the matter about her new job a secret from her friend. Seeing that her friend was worrying about her made her heart warm a little. But soon, Song Xing Xing felt a little guilty about hiding her matter from Bai Zhi.
"You don't have to worry about ." Song Xing Xing patted Bai Zhi's hand. "Producer Ming called the other day and ntioned a new show. I might have a job soon."
Bai Zhi waved her hand. "Anyway, we're already here. Just sit down and have sothing to eat. It's fine. There were a few people who did not turn up to this gathering as they were stuck in their hotown. The producer said I should invite so friends or else, the food and drinks would be wasted."
Hearing her words, Song Xing Xing began to relax.
So people were still in the festivity mood and Song Xing Xing thought that her friend's words made sense.
Just like that, she was already dragged over to the table. Bai Zhi introduced her to the director and producers before she was allowed to sit down at the least crowded table.
Song Xing Xing looked at the group of actors on the other table and nudged at Bai Zhi again. "What kind of drama did you join this ti? What about your role?"
"A costu drama," Bai Zhi whispered. "I'm the third female lead. The princess's maid."
Song Xing Xing glanced at the table of celebrities again and guessed who would be playing the princess's role. She saw the glass of wine in front of her and raised it high. "Bai Zhi, let congratulate you on your new roles."
Bai Zhi quickly raised her hand to decline her offer. "I can't drink. I still have a job after this." She scanned the table and picked up a glass of juice instead. "Let substitute it with this."
Song Xing Xing did not mind and the two toasted for Bai Zhi's new roles.
Just then, the producer that Bai Zhi had introduced to Song Xing Xing before walked over to their table.
"Producer Ye." Bai Zhi quickly stood up and greeted the man.
"Bai Zhi, congratulation on getting this role." Producer Ye raised his glass at Bai Zhi. "I hope you will do your best and don't disappoint ."
"Of course," Bai Zhi flashed a bright smile. "Producer Ye, I will do my best." She eyed the wine glass on the producer's hand and hesitated. "Producer Ye, I cannot drink this ti. I still have another job after this."
The producer's expression turned ugly when he heard Bai Zhi's words. His gaze shifted to Song Xing Xing. "Then what about your friend? Have her drink on your stead."
Song Xing Xing frowned when she heard the producer's words.. Then, she saw Bai Zhi's pleading expression.
