Chapter 15: You Little?!

“Alright, if I don’t make you puke today, I’m not surnad Jiang.”

“Fine, and if I don’t make you cry from eating today, I’m not surnad Guo.”

One of the more childish things about boys was how much they love making dumb bets. No matter how silly, they’ll go all out to win.

As the saying goes: Under a heavy oath, there will be brave n!

Ten minutes later, the two arrived at Hongyun Restaurant.

It was a well-known spot in Linjiang City, but since it was expensive, the average person rarely went there.

But today, soone else was footing the bill, so Guo Wei naturally didn’t hold back.

He waved his hand grandly and ordered a whole table of food.

Then he added two whole crates of “Brave the World” beer.

Drink after drink, the evening flew by.

In just two hours, Guo Wei had thrown up three tis.

Under Jiang Zhou’s relentless pushing, he even jokingly changed his surna.

Not that Jiang Zhou fared much better.

He had eight bottles himself and had no idea how he even got ho afterward.

It was the first ti he drank that much since being reborn.

In his hazy, half-conscious state, it all felt like a dream.

A beautiful dream.

In it, he had his original partner in one arm, and Chu Yuwei squeezed between his legs.

What a blissful scene.

But by the next morning, that dream was brutally shattered.

He was yanked out of bed by his parents and shoved into the car.

They were heading to their old ho in Nancun.

Now that he had his admission letter and college was starting soon, Jiang Hongshan and Yuan Youqin wanted him to visit his grandparents.

After all, getting into college was a big deal, and big deals should be shared with family.

Especially since he had been accepted into Shangjing University, a major bragging right.

“Our son got into one of the top universities in the whole country!”

“The campus is huge. It must be thousands of acres!”

His grandparents grinned ear to ear at that.

Thousands of acres? That’s enough to grow a lot of apple trees.

But Jiang Zhou’s aunt didn’t look too pleased.

“Our Yuqi’s grades weren’t bad either. Getting into Shangjing University wouldn’t have been a problem for her.”

Yuan Youqin snorted. “That’s not necessarily true.”

“And why not?”

“Even their class monitor, who had really high scores, didn’t make it in.”

His aunt’s face dropped. “Sister-in-law, are you implying Yuqi couldn’t get in?”

Yuan Youqin coughed. “I didn’t say that.”

“You sure sounded like you did.”

“Oh, Hongi, don’t be so sensitive. I wasn’t talking about Yuqi, just the class monitor.”

His aunt rolled her eyes and turned to Jiang Zhou.

“Jiang Zhou, I heard from Yuqi that you had a little early romance going on?”

“Huh? Since when?”

“You had a crush on a girl in your class and got rejected, didn’t you?”

Jiang Zhou was stunned.

Apparently, his 18-year-old self had not only been a hopeless simp but also couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

To think he’d even told his cousin about getting rejected…

But Yuqi had really gone overboard.

This wasn’t sothing to gossip about, and yet she told everyone.

He shot a dark look at his cousin, who now looked guilty and avoided eye contact.

His mom, on the other hand, gave him a grilling stare.

“You brat. You did fall in love early, didn’t you?”

Jiang Zhou coughed awkwardly. “That’s a rumor. A total lie!”

Yuan Youqin gave him a sharp glare. “Was it a boy or a girl?”

“Mom! Don’t you trust my orientation at all?!”

His aunt chid in with wide eyes, “Wait, does that an Jiang Zhou likes boys?!”

COUGH COUGH COUGH.

Jiang Zhou nearly choked.

This was supposed to be a minor scuffle between two in-laws. How did he get caught in the crossfire?

Family dinners really were dangerous.

He decided he’d had enough and got up.

He looked at Yuqi. “Co with . We need to talk.”

“Okay…” she mumbled, reluctantly following him out.

Jiang Yuqi was sixteen this year.

She was beautiful and charming, the kind that turned heads.

But she was also mischievous and energetic — a complete handful.

Still, Jiang Zhou never expected her to sell him out.

“I know I ssed up, okay?” she said.

“Too late. Why’d you go blabbing about ?”

She pouted. “That day my mom was upset, so I told her sothing funny to cheer her up.”

Jiang Zhou nearly spat blood.

“So my heartbreak is entertainnt for your whole family?”

“No, no, my dad didn’t laugh!”

“Hmm, second uncle’s not bad. I’ll bring him so cigarettes next ti.”

Yuqi giggled. “But he did tell all the aunties at the village entrance. Everyone’s really happy now.”

Jiang Zhou’s eyes widened in horror.

“You an those bored gossip aunties who chat all day at the village gate?!”

“Yup!”

“It’s over. My reputation’s officially ruined.”

She tried to comfort him. “There’s plenty of fish in the sea, right?”

Jiang Zhou turned to her with a cold grin.

“Right now, I just wanna yank this particular ‘weed’ out of the ground.”

“Uncle! Uncle! My brother’s gonna hit !

“Help! Sobody help!”

On the way back, Jiang Zhou looked absolutely defeated.

He felt like this family visit was a complete disaster.

Not only that, but his once noble image had gone up in smoke.

The gossiping aunties at the village gate were practically the CIA of Nancun.

Now that they knew, it ant everyone knew.

How could he return rich and successful one day and show off in style?

How could he honor his ancestors?

How was he supposed to build that “self-made millionaire” persona?

After all, isn’t the whole point of getting rich just to flex at Chinese New Year?

“Son,” his mom suddenly said, “there’s this Auntie Li at my office. Her daughter’s really sweet. Want to et her?”

Jiang Zhou sighed. “Mom, do you really think I can’t get a girlfriend?”

Yuan Youqin gave a long, dramatic sigh.

“It’s not that I think you can’t find one. I’m just scared you’ll bring ho a boyfriend instead.”

“I…” Jiang Zhou was speechless, veins popping.

Where on earth did they get this idea?

Was it just because I didn’t pay attention to Chu Yuwei?

Wow, so now not liking her was a cri?

Did everyone assu she was so universal love interest or sothing?

“Fine, Mom. This winter break, I’ll bring ho your real daughter-in-law and prove it to you!”

Yuan Youqin glanced at Jiang Hongshan.

Jiang Hongshan looked back at her.

“Son,” he said seriously, “we don’t ask for much… just… just make sure it’s a girl.”
