Boredom isn't painful since she had already gotten used to it. What was painful was giving her hope and then disappointing her again.

It's like eting a super handso guy at a party, tall and humorous, almost the embodint of perfection, and you were so chard that you booked a hotel room without hesitation, ready to spend a wonderful night with him.

But then, after the foreplay was done and you were fully ready, excitedly pulling down his pants, you discovered that he was a short, soft disappointnt!

Who could bear that? Who could bear that?

Whenever Catherine thought of this, she hated Shen Mochen so much that her teeth itched.

What was even more infuriating was Shen Mochen, thinking himself clever by playing a full act. He didn't start by falling to the bottom of the class, but gradually slid from second or third place, steadily backward.

Did he really think that he could avoid suspicion this way?

Every ti Catherine saw Shen Mochen's grades, she was furious, feeling mocked and utterly frustrated, and she couldn't help but make sarcastic remarks.

Of course, she wasn't really that childish. Beyond venting her emotions, she hoped Shen Mochen would be shad into striving harder, to ignite so fighting spirit.

Unfortunately, she really didn't have the talent to play the villain, or perhaps it was just Shen Mochen flopping so convincingly, like sludge, unfazed by boiling water.

Catherine knew Shen Mochen, this guy was definitely not as ek as he appeared, heaven knows how he cursed her in his heart! This thought only deepened her gloom.

It wasn't worth fussing over if it seed like she couldn't beat him just this once and it appeared as if she was retaliating. But to let him off would be too hard to swallow!

As ti passed, her dissatisfaction with Shen Mochen grew day by day. Seeing him accelerated her heartbeat, making her want to kick him to death; not seeing him made her miss him, relishing the idea of tearing him apart.

Shen Mochen could be as cunning as a fox or as ferocious as a wolf, yet now, he acted like a re lamb, which was shaless. Sotis Catherine would even lie awake at night, steaming with anger.

Well, she had to keep her anger inside since it wasn't sothing to be shared with outsiders.

But fate let her overhear a conversation between Shen Mochen and Gu Yange, where Shen Mochen rejected the latter's confession, using her as an excuse.

Hearing Shen Mochen's "declaration of love," she couldn't help but smirk. Hence, she took the opportunity to co out and imdiately agreed to date Shen Mochen.

Actually, Catherine hadn't initially decided to seek revenge on Shen Mochen; dating him was out of sheer spur-of-the-mont feeling.

Since you say you like , then out of great rcy, here I am!

She subconsciously felt this was an opportunity she couldn't miss. In that mont, Shen Mochen, that coward, would definitely not dare to disagree, and if he were truly brave, he wouldn't have purposely suppressed his scores.

Seeing Shen Mochen acting compliantly but not daring to refuse directly, Catherine's long-suppressed mood finally felt a lot better.

Making Shen Mochen uncomfortable was refreshingly satisfying!

After returning ho, the idea of revenge officially ford in Catherine's mind. The death of Yin Huailian had caused him enough pain to alter his deanor; what could be more tornting than a hormone-driven love?

To make him fall hopelessly in love with her, then dump him in the cruelest way possible!

Imagining Shen Mochen clutching at her legs, begging her to reconsider, Catherine felt an unprecedented rush of pleasure from her feet to her crown.

Yes, continue to beg before , regret, repent!

That would be another kind of exhilarating victory.

According to Catherine's thoughts, the above was the proper script. But these last few days, she herself felt sowhat disheartened.

No special reasons, it wasn't related to the progress between them, she just felt disheartened.

She had always been persistently goal-driven, and it was the first ti she felt like giving up so quickly.

Perhaps it was because she saw Shen Mochen having dinner with Cai Yuncui the previous night, that warm, natural scene, those relaxed, joyful expressions. Suddenly, she felt like she was immaturely playing house.

She hated playing house.

But wouldn't giving up be even more annoying? It felt like admitting defeat!

Catherine knew this, and she should have continued teasing Shen Mochen today. There was still progress between them. But sohow, she just couldn't muster the energy.

She was also distracted in class… but it didn't matter if she didn't listen, since she already knew the material.

"Hey, it's my birthday next month, do you want to co?"

Catherine threw a note that hit Shen Mochen on the head.

A birthday party?

Shen Mochen looked at the note and hesitated for a mont. He really didn't want to go, but he could tell she was in a bad mood this morning, so he didn't outright refuse.

"How many people?" Shen Mochen asked.

"Not many."

"What should I co as?"

"Whatever you want."

"Then we'll see, if nothing cos up, I'll go..."

Catherine's lips curved into a smile, satisfied as she put away the note.

Shen Mochen thought that was the end of it and didn't give it much thought, continuing to focus on the class. But not long after, Catherine threw another note at him.

"Forget it, you better not co."

Are you playing with ? Shen Mochen's mouth twitched slightly, and he rolled his eyes at Catherine, who provocatively blinked back.

Fine, I won't go. Did she really think I wanted to? Shen Mochen scoffed to himself, crumpled the note into a ball, and casually tossed it into the trash can behind him.

Catherine lay bored on her desk, unable to suppress a laugh.

She had originally wanted to tease him. At next month's birthday party, all the guests were distinguished mbers of the Family, and she wanted to see Shen Mochen's awkward, clueless look when he was tricked into attending.

But in the end, she softened. Alright, she'd let him off the hook.

"It's my birthday in July, you can co."

Catherine handed Shen Mochen another note.

"How many birthdays do you have in a year?"

Shen Mochen replied on the note, clearly annoyed.

"Are you coming or not?"

"Not going, you just played , I'm angry!"

Catherine knew Shen Mochen was making excuses, bargaining, and she went along with it: "Co and celebrate my birthday, it's my second wish."

Shen Mochen tilted his head, surprised she had already made two wishes so quickly.

"The third wish better not be for three more wishes or sothing!" he wrote on the note.

Catherine clutched her stomach, laughing. She didn't reply on the note but mouthed "okay."

The morning classes ended with the lodious ringing of the bell, and Shen Mochen went to the cafeteria alone for lunch, then headed to the library to study with Catherine.
