“Exceptional!”
“In the Spirit Brew contest, it’s been several tis now that we haven’t seen an ‘Exceptional’ rating, right?!”
“More precisely, the last ti an ‘Exceptional’ rating appeared, we would have to flip back through eight contests, which is two hundred and forty years ago.”
A bearded elder said softly.
Hearing this rating, a murmur ran through the many Sword Peak disciples below.
An ‘Exceptional’ rating signified that Lu Xuan was flawless in every aspect of Spirit Brewing, far surpassing any other Spirit Brew Master present.
“Sincerely convinced.”
“A success rate of eighty percent for a fourth-grade Spirit Brew, a sixty percent success rate for the fifth-grade Treasure Item Return True Sword Liquid, I have to admit defeat.”
“If I rember correctly, Huanzhen Sword Peak had only managed a ‘Fair’ at best in the recent Spirit Brew contests, and there were even two occasions where they didn’t send any disciples to participate.”
“This ti, Lu Xuan alone achieved an ‘Exceptional,’ and even if Spirit Brewing represents only a small fraction in all the contests, it’s still a major improvent.”
The crowd was moved by the rating and harbored no objections in their hearts.
After all, they had seen Lu Xuan’s performance with their own eyes, and it didn’t make sense to embarrass themselves and offend Huanzhen Sword Peak.
After the dust settled in the Spirit Brew contest, Lu Xuan returned to the plaza, planning to watch a few bouts of the Fight law competition before participating in the upcoming Charm crafting contest.
“Disciple Lu, how did it go?”
True Sword Master and a few others appeared out of nowhere in front of Lu Xuan, their tone gentle, but their eyes filled with anticipation.
“I have not disgraced the mission, ‘Exceptional.'”
Lu Xuan replied with a smile.
“Exceptional? Exceptional! Hahaha!”
Sword Huanzhen laughed heartily.
“Well done, well done, I truly haven’t misjudged you, my disciple.”
He said, filled with relief.
Yuan Rong and the others likewise expressed their admiration.
With these significant figures watching him, Lu Xuan lost interest in watching the Fight law contests and obediently returned to his Cave Abode to rest.
After resting for one day, he was full of energy and made his way to the Sword Palace.
In another grand hall, hundreds of people had already gathered.
Most were Talisman Masters from the nine great Sword Peaks, and a few were Sword Palace disciples maintaining order and patrolling the examination halls.
Among them, there were five Nascent Soul Elders presiding over the Talisman Making contest, each a talisman master, who secluded themselves within the Sword Palace, indifferent to worldly affairs, devotedly researching the way of the talismans.
“The talisman Masters from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak have arrived.”
Soone in the grand hall said softly.
Lu Xuan looked in the direction of the voice and saw a group of more than thirty people entering majestically, making their way to the center of the grand hall.
“Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak, the lineage among the nine great Sword Peaks that’s most skilled in talisman making, capable of crafting the majority of the talismans used in the Cultivation World.”
“The one leading them, Ji Changhai, is a direct disciple of the Heavenly Talisman Sword Master. His mastery in talisman craft has reached the Transformation Stage, and he can even draw the rarely seen seventh-grade talismans.”
“Everyone who ca has a profound level of talisman crafting. Without the limits on registration numbers, the talisman Masters from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak alone could dominate the contest.”
The crowd murmured quietly among themselves.
“Speaking of talisman crafting, there’s a rumor that a rising talent from Huanzhen Sword Peak has opened a store in Sword Abyss City, selling several types of high-rank Sword Talismans, including two that are fifth-grade.”
“I’ve heard of it, I’m even considering whether to save up so Spirit Stones to buy one for self-defense.”
“When exploring Secret Lands, having a powerful Sword Talisman that can be activated at any mont could potentially reverse a dire situation and save one’s life.”
Lu Xuan even heard so talks about the Grocery Store, but since he seldom showed his face there and kept a low profile, no one realized the shop owner was right before their eyes.
“The nine great Sword Peaks have sent out over two hundred talisman Masters;
that’s several tis more than the Spirit Brew contestants.”
“If there were no restrictions on the number of participants, given the popularity of Talisman Making among Cultivators, the numbers could easily double.”
Lu Xuan looked around, pondering silently.
“In the process of cultivation, every ‘cultivator’ will, to a greater or lesser extent, co into contact with alchemy and talisman crafting, these several cultivation techniques,”
“Among the nine great Sword Peaks, Huanzhen Sword Peak has the fewest people, with only fifteen mbers.”
“The most famous of these is Ye Lingkong at the Early Nascent Soul Stage. Before Lu Xuan arrived, he was the most powerful Talisman Master of Huanzhen Sword Peak, able to consistently produce Fourth Grade Talismans and, on occasion, shine by crafting a Fifth Rank Sword Talisman.”
“In addition, there are four others whose levels are decent, barely qualifying as proficient.”
“The remaining nine are more about participation.”
“Talisman Crafting Competitions differ slightly from Spirit Brew.”
“After all, for a Spirit Brew Master to master one or two types of Spirit Brews is already quite good, whereas most Talisman Masters can usually craft upwards of ten, or even dozens, of different talismans.”
“At registration, Talisman Masters can list the types of talismans they are good at crafting, then the Sword Palace randomly selects three types and prepares five sets of materials for the Talisman Masters to use.”
“At the sa ti, the Sword Palace ‘cultivators’ also test the theoretical level of each Talisman Master in talisman crafting, ranging from basic talisman knowledge to expertise within the types of talismans the masters specialize in.”
“Although Lu Xuan had dabbled in so basic talismans, his crafting level was still not up to those of higher-order sword talismans, so he only listed the types of sword talismans he was proficient in crafting.”
“These included the Roaring Sea Sword Charm, Great Sun Sword Charms, Starfall Sword Charm, and Wind-Thunder Sword Talisman, these four Fourth Grade Sword Symbols, as well as the True Evil Sword Charm and Xuan Yin Sword Talisman, two Fifth Grade Sword Talismans.”
“The final draw was the Fourth Grade Wind Thunder Sword Talisman and Great Sun Sword Charms, along with a Fifth Grade Xuan Yin Sword Talisman.”
“The number of Sword Talisman Experience Packages he absorbed was not as much as Spirit Brew, but he still had levels of Great Achievent and even Grandmaster,”
“In the end, he crafted three Wind-Thunder Sword Talismans and Great Sun Sword Charms, as well as two Xuan Yin Sword Talismans.”
“During the competition, a Nascent Soul Talisman Master from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak successfully crafted a Seventh Grade Talisman, conjuring a massive spectacle of dragons and tigers, eliciting gasps of amazent from the crowd.”
“A full day later, all the Talisman Masters completed their crafting and gathered together quietly awaiting the results.”
“‘I was lucky to craft a Fourth Grade Sword Talisman this ti, I wonder if my score will be better than last ti.’
“‘I was less fortunate this ti. Not a single Fourth Grade Talisman was successful. I hope the Elder of the Sword Palace will give so credit for my crafting technique.’
“‘Don’t worry, there won’t be much. The Sword Palace Elder has seen your so-called techniques.’
“…”
“Behind Lu Xuan, a few Talisman Masters were discussing in hushed tones.”
“‘Thank you all Talisman Masters for participating in the Talisman Crafting Competition, we now announce the results.’
“A gaunt elder flicked his hand, and a long strip of talisman paper appeared in the air above the great hall.”
“The nas of many Talisman Masters shone brightly on the talisman paper, and next to them were their corresponding scores.”
“‘Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak, Ji Changhai, Grade: Top.’
“‘Indeed, True Monarch Changhai has once again received the top grade.’
“To no cultivator’s objection, the Talisman Master who crafted a Seventh Grade Talisman received that evaluation.”
“Lu Xuan was naturally among the ranks;
he was only skilled in a number of high-level sword talismans, his focus was more on Spirit Plants, even surpassing Spirit Brew in importance than talismans.”
“That Nascent Soul Talisman Master from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak, after all, was a talisman genius of the Dongxuan Sword Sect, imrsed in the art for at least hundreds of years. Even with the reward of Experience Packages from the Light Cluster, it would be difficult to surpass him.”
“‘Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak…’
“‘It’s Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak again!’
“The second to fourth places also belonged to Talisman Masters from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak, sharing the sa Grade: Middle.”
“‘Fifth place, Huanzhen Sword Peak, Lu Xuan, Grade: Middle.’
“‘Huanzhen Sword Peak… no way. I rember the level of talisman crafting was just average there. Even Ye Lingkong never received a Grade: A.’
“‘Where did this Lu Xuan spring out from?’
“The crowd buzzed with discussion, utterly surprised by the sudden ergence of Lu Xuan.”
“A total of six people received the Grade: Middle score, including three from Heavenly Talisman Sword Peak and two others from Chong Xu Sword Peak and Hundred Artisans Sword Peak, with these three peaks firmly in the top echelons of strength within the nine great Sword Peaks, their achievents were to be expected.”
“But the last to receive the Grade: Middle, Lu Xuan, was a different story.”
“You see, the level of talisman craft at Huanzhen Sword Peak and even the mastery of all arts of cultivation, not one was outstanding.”
“Yet suddenly, a Talisman Master who achieved a Grade: Middle without making a sound appeared?”
