633: Gate of Past Days – Danacus’ fanatics (two chapters combined, so there’s only this one update today) _1 633: Gate of Past Days – Danacus’ fanatics (two chapters combined, so there’s only this one update today) _1 “Rattle, rattle,” as the first step crossed the threshold of the temple, all outside sounds vanished – the noise of the wind, the sound of sands, the collision of bones, the wailing of ghosts, the chant of necromancers, even the death breath of the bone dragons.

All disappeared.

The temple seed like a different world, all sights could only be seen, but no sound could enter.

The temple was alarmingly quiet, echoing only the rattling of footsteps.

Around them was complete darkness, only a cold light seeping in from the entrance.

With the help of this light, one could see a long corridor, the end of which disappeared into the vast darkness like a giant python with its mouth ajar, ready to swallow its prey.

If you pay close attention, you might feel a faint breeze blowing from the inner temple, embedded with a rotten sll, causing a great discomfort.

“It’s so dark.” “So terrifying,” the winged twins held each other close, their bodies tightly pressed against each other.

Their voices trembled slightly.

Given their age, they were still children, and it was in a child’s nature to fear the dark and the unknown.

Regardless of their individual strength, they could not fight against this instinct: “I feel there’s sothing inside.” “Can we not go in?” “We’re scared.” “I want to leave this place.”

“Two cowards.” Christo jeered at the trembling sisters with his sharp voice.

But his pace quickened, and his body unconsciously shielded the two girls.

Still, he continued with his mockery: “So you’re afraid of the dark.

Do you have to sleep in mommy’s arms at night too, haha, oh my.”

The twin sisters smirked and withdrew their feet that simultaneously kicked the goblin’s shins, saying triumphantly, “Stupid little Curlee.” “Dare to mock us.” “Forget about last year when you were swallowed by a giant python in the Forest of Death.” “When we pulled you out, your pants were wet.” “You must have peed yourself.”

“Nonsense, I was soaked throughout.” Christo argued infurially: “How many tis have I told you, that was the python’s digestive fluids and blood, not peeing my pants.

Can’t you understand common language?”

“You three, stop it.” Nellie sighed, signaling the trio to look at Kyle.

The three noisy ones turned their heads and found that Kyle was facing the wall, stroking his chin and deep in thought.

“Maya.” Kyle, as if confirming sothing, suddenly turned around and startled the three of them who were watching him: “There are no traces of any living being here, so it’s unlikely that there’s anything that is light-sensitive.

Light up for us.”

“No problem.” The white-winged Maya crisply agreed, clapping her hands and whispering, “God said, let there be light.”

And so there was light.

Soft light lit up the long hallway in an instant.

No one knew where the light ca from since there was no visible source around.

It was as if the light erged out of nowhere, evenly distributed around Maya as the center.

The light in all directions was even, so no one in the corridor had a shadow.

The soft light illuminated the long corridor, revealing intricate, ancient patterns etched into the walls.

Instead of being re patterns, they betrayed hints of being an ancient script.

Though their aning was unclear, the solemnity and gravity they commanded was palpable.

“This is the script the deities use for communication with the supernatural during ceremonies.” Standing next to Kyle, Nellie observed the winding script etched into the walls: “Among the deities, only those in charge of ceremonies and rituals could use this text.

Even the strongest among them would not know it if they were not in such a position.

It’s basically reserved for the highest-ranking holy occupation.

I rember a trend in the last period of the Mythical Age where such divine texts were engraved at the entrance of temples.”

“Let’s move further in.” Kyle squinted at the script blanketing the walls, obliviously responded: “I think we will have to interact with Grimreaper Danacus this ti.

Lady Mina, are you certain Danacus had fallen?”

“I am quite certain.” Mina nodded earnestly: “Because one of my elders witnessed it.

The seventeen most formidable amongst the deities, including Loki who led them, battled him.

Danacus and his fanatics fought for nine days and nights on the Mjolnir Plains.

In the last two days, he began to falter, hence he used his temple as a dium to absorb the offerings from his followers, who thus beca dried corpses.

Yet, he was defeated in the end.

His divine kingdom fell, and he also fell.

Even his temple sank under the ground that collapsed during the fighting and was never seen again.”

“And so.” Kyle nodded towards the temple interiors: “Today it has erged.”

“Yes, today it has erged.” Mina’s smile hidden under her hood was a bit bitter: “Since the temple has appeared here and appears to be well restored, this proves our previous assumptions wrong.

We’re likely not only facing a god soul fragnt but might have to confront a weakened divine soul directly.

It’s my mistake, and I should take the responsibility.

We had a chance of victory against a god soul fragnt, but against a weakened divine soul, our chances of victory are probably…”
