543: Chapter 12 Tower of Colossus_1 543: Chapter 12 Tower of Colossus_1 The Tower of Colossus is located in the northern part of the Holy City Magic District.

This steep tower, standing eighty ters tall, is surrounded and protected by twenty chanical workshops.

In tis of peace, these workshops function as supply and production centers affiliated to the Tower of Colossus.

They transform the research achievents of the tower into physical products and distribute them worldwide, while continually supplying the tower with blood, transferring the profits from sales and a wealth of resources for research purposes.

However, once the city is invaded and defenses are breached, the Tower of Colossus rapidly morphs into a ferocious beast of war.

Each of the twenty chanical workshops hides two legion-level war puppets produced using goblin technology, capable of being assembled in an hour.

Of course, these replicated puppets, whether in terms of material strength or weapon power, are far weaker than the originals.

None of them possess the capability to combat an army of ten thousand.

However, when forty of these massive, ferocious tallic puppets gather and unleash their firepower, even several armies of ten thousand would not dare to confront them directly, especially after the mages, in their frenzied pursuit of power, integrate a Scorching Fla Spell onto each puppet.

The spell’s impact isn’t particularly potent, only creating a region with a duration of a hundred degrees within ten ters of the puppet.

But with it, any lower-rank professionals and ordinary soldiers who don’t have a shield spell wouldn’t dare to approach the puppet or they risk being burnt alive.

And the defense asures don’t stop there.

In actuality, if a war were to break out, these war puppets exist with the primary purpose to defend the Starshine Tower and to reinforce the other towers.

The Tower of Colossus itself is a terrifying killing machine.

Inside this largely tal-made tower hides sixteen high-powered magic crystal cannons, ready to obliterate any enemy that cos within range.

Unless there’s a demigod present, even if the invaders consist of a dozen Legend-grade leaders, they’d turn to dust under the concentrated fire of the sixteen magic crystal cannons.

Moreover, aside from magic crystal cannons, the mad chanics ard every corner of the tower with crystal energy guns of various specifications.

Any army wanting to conquer this tower would have to wait until the tower’s stored leyline energy is completely drained – a nearly impossible task.

Further, it is said that the Tower of Colossus hides even more terrifying secrets, one that only those in charge of the tower, who possess the highest security clearance, have the privilege to know.

“So you see, aside from the chanics themselves, very few normal people, including mages from other disciplines, are willing to live nearby.” Standing outside the uniquely designed Tower of Colossus, Freya said: “No one wishes to place themselves in a location that might be bombarded by magic crystal cannons at any mont, especially when they don’t have control over it.”

“That’s not sothing to be proud of.” Pannis responded, “And yet you seem to be quite pleased.”

“Of course.” Freya stepped onto the tallic stairs of the Tower of Colossus: “As chanics who have inherited so goblin technology, we naturally take pride in our collective achievents.

After all, the Tower of Colossus represents the pinnacle of achievent in both magic machinery and crystal energy machinery in the Yarran Continent, and even the tower mages from the Mage Country of Butt have to concede defeat.”

Freya is right.

For the other schools of magic, even though the Mage Guild generally holds the upper hand due to the convenience of internal resources and partial knowledge sharing, the Mage Country of Butt has taken the lead in many research achievents, often mocking the guild for this reason in their exchanges.

Only the two branches of chanical study pose a challenge to the mages of Butt – they are unable to compete and are forced to seek knowledge humbly.

Upon entering the grand doors of the Tower of Colossus, it was as if stepping into another world.

Unlike other mage towers, emitting the scent of books and potions, the air here was filled with the pungent sll of lubricating oil and a unique tallic stench.

The mages around, all dressed in greasy overalls, ran about in a frenzy.

Furthermore, on the tower’s floors, small transport machines carrying various tools and parts moved to and fro, delivering supplies.

These oddly shaped machines, controlled by no one, seed to possess their consciousness, perfectly executing their tasks.

Having already seen a lot of strange autonomous puppets in the goblin ruins, Pannis wasn’t surprised by this.

However, this scene of chaos and order, bustling with activity, made him, who was visiting the Tower of Colossus for the first ti, marvel at the sight.

“I heard that chanics are oddballs among mages.

Never realised this from Christo.” Pannis sighed:” It is only after coming here that I realised how true this assumption was, very impressive.”

“That’s because we act differently in and out of the lab.” Freya laughed softly: “chanics are no different from other mages.

Think about Vivian when she is engrossed and going mad in her lab.

We’re just the sa, it’s just that the things we research are typically larger in scale, requiring us to be constantly busy, getting up close and personal with chanical parts, hence we may not seem like mages.

But when it cos to being passionate about research, we’re all the sa.”

“Typical of mages.” Pannis said: “Common folk find it hard to understand.”

“You’re also a spellcaster, in a way.” Freya said: “You speak as if you have no ties to mages.”

“But I’m not a researcher.” Pannis explained: “So it’s hard for to understand this fanaticism.”

Amid the casual chatter, the pair managed to navigate through the extraordinarily spacious hall of the Tower of Colossus.

After dodging seven or eight chanics who almost ran into them, they finally reached the reception desk on the opposite end of the hall.

A young female apprentice was hunched over the desk, busily scribbling modifications on a blueprint spread out on the desk’s surface, completely oblivious to the fact that the pair had been standing in front of her for half a minute.

If it were just Freya, a high-ranking mber of the chanic Guild, there would be no need to go through the reception for access to the areas above the second floor in the Tower of Colossus.

However, Pannis isn’t a guild mber.

Without a temporary visitor’s badge, it would be hard for him to pass through the second-floor defense barrier.

Granted, with Pannis’s power, he could easily bypass the barrier using his inherent psychic domain and enter, but even if he did, there’s a high chance that the automatic defense chanisms scattered everywhere would detect his intrusion and set off the alarm.

Moreover, such an action would be considered extrely hostile and rude.

Unless planning to wage a war, very few demigods would resort to this.

“Although I hate to disturb you, I have to say, we’ve been waiting a long ti.” Freya tapped the reception desk with her hand and said to the female apprentice, “We need a visitor’s identity, with access to the sixteenth level, could you help us with that?”

“Highest level privilege?” The apprentice glanced at the two of them, then went back to working on a plan.

“Which Master are you looking for?”

“Master Christo.” Freya answered.

“Sixteenth level, first area.”

“Huh?” The apprentice finally took her attention away from her work and attentively looked at the two of them, then shook her head, “I’m sorry, Master Christo has special status.

Without an appointnt no visitor permissions can be given.

I also didn’t receive any appointnt notifications, so I’m very sorry, but I can’t process the visitor registration for you.”

“I am a student of Master Christo.” Freya pulled out the mage emblem representing her identity, “Does this also not work?”

“If you’re visiting the Master by yourself, it’s no problem.

Your access allows you to visit any research room on any floor within the tower.” The female apprentice seriously verified Freya’s emblem, but regretfully said, “However, you only have access to the fifteenth floor, you can’t take this gentleman with you to the sixteenth floor.

I’m afraid I can’t help you either.

But if you insist on taking this gentleman up, you can go and notify Master Christo yourself first, request for an appointnt permit from him, then I can process your visitor registration.

I’m very sorry, but as you know, the Guild’s regulations on this are strict, and I cannot violate them.”

“What a bother.” Freya frowned and said to Pannis, “I had never taken anyone into the Guild before, I didn’t know there were rules like this.

Never mind, you wait here, I’ll go up and notify the Master.”

“No need, there’s no point going up then coming back down.” Pannis shook his head, “I’ve already notified him.

He should co down to et us soon, we just need to wait a little.”

“Huh?” Freya was taken aback but imdiately understood, “Oh, I almost forgot.

You guys always have so special sense and can find each other even tens of kiloters away.”

“Yes, I think he was too focused just now and didn’t notice that we were here.” Pannis said, “I startled him a few tis, and finally got his attention.

If he’s on the sixteenth floor, it shouldn’t take too long.”

“It shouldn’t take long, each level has a teleportation array that leads directly to the second floor.” Freya explained, “Then from the second floor take the elevator down.

Even though my Master is slow, it should only take a few minutes.”

While the two were talking, the female apprentice was curiously stealing glances at these two strange visitors.

As Freya had rarely visited the Guild using her original identity since her image change, and since the Mage Emblem only reads permissions and doesn’t record identities, the female apprentice didn’t realize the oval-faced beauty standing before her was none other than the mayor’s daughter Freya.

As for Pannis, she knew him even less.

However, upon hearing the conversation between the two visitors, wherein they were waiting for a demigod level Master to co down and greet them, she found their strange and almost comical confidence quite surprising.

But what surprised her even more was when, a few minutes later, one of the highest ranked and most powerful figures in the Tower of Colossus, Master Christo, actually walked out of the elevator.
