536: Chapter 5 Acquaintance_1 536: Chapter 5 Acquaintance_1 “What are you guys doing here?” A small girl’s naive voice ca from around the corner, “Didn’t we agree to let bygones be bygones?

Why are you still following ?

What on earth do you want?”

In front of the five mbers of the adventure team, a doll-like little girl was standing with a magic staff in her hand, vigilantly looking at everyone, ready to cast a spell at any sign of trouble.

“Amanda, who are you talking to?” Another familiar voice echoed from the building from which the little girl had erged.

“Did you bump into sothing?

I told you not to run so fast.

Let see if you’re hurt.”

“Brother, brother, run!” The little girl nad Amanda yelled anxiously, “So bad guys have co to cause trouble.

I’ll hold them off for you, just run.”

“Why should a little girl face trouble on her brother’s behalf?” After running hurriedly out of the building, a young man called out while still running, “If you want to fight, co at !

Ganging up on a little girl is nothing to be proud of.

Amanda, hold them off for while I make a run for it.”

“Wesker, stop right there!” Vivian and Lina easily took the little girl Amanda hostage.

Lina held Amanda in her arms while Vivian squeezed Amanda’s cute face into various humorous shapes.

“If you dare run, we’ll make your sister’s face swell.”

“How dare you threaten with a hostage.” Wesker stopped in the middle of his attempted escape and turned back indignantly.

“You guys are really despicable, have you no professional honor or morality?”

“You’ve got nerve calling us out after hurting Freya.” Vivian let go of Amanda’s face with a nasty smirk.

Lina followed suit and released Amanda’s arm.

Suddenly switching her attitude, she puffed out her chest and said condescendingly, “I’ve seen plenty of cowards who toy with girls’ feelings like you.

If it were up to , n like you would’ve been castrated by now.”

Amanda finally escaped and angrily kicked at the two wicked girls before running back to her brother’s side.

She clinged onto his clothes, hiding behind him and gave the two villains a hard stare.

“Wesker, do you really dislike that much?” Freya, who had been silent so far, slowly lifted her head, her hands on her chest and tears shimring in her gorgeous eyes, “It’s been so long since it happened, are you going to keep avoiding ?

Although I no longer love you, I do not bla you for the wedding.

Thanks to you, I’ve had the chance to face my true self and to discover what true love is.

I should be thanking you.

I’ve let go of the past, why can’t you?”

“Uh, sorry.” Wesker bowed his head in embarrassnt, scratching his hair.

“I’m truly sorry, Freya.

I was completely wrong, and I have reflected on it for many months.

I’ve wanted to apologize to you, it’s just that I felt so guilty, so when I saw you all just now, I instinctively wanted to run away.

Not just to you, Freya, but to all of the Nellie’s adventure team mbers.

I should apologize for my behavior in the past and for all the trouble I’ve caused.

I’m sorry.”

“This is more like it.” Lina huffed and turned her face away, “We’ll defer the castration penalty then.”

“What exactly is this ‘castration penalty’?” Pannis asked quietly, “Is it a special punishnt from Isabella’s era?”

“You want to know?” Lina looked up and down Pannis’s body with an evil grin, “You really want to know?”

“I apologize, I suddenly have no desire to know.” Pannis instinctively took a few steps sideways, using Catherine as a barrier between him and Lina, cutting off her dreadful gaze.

“That’s good.” Uninterrupted by the little episode, Freya’s sorrowful face showed a tearful smile.

She looked up at the now dim sky, and softly said in a breathtaking voice, “Thanks to the Deity, we’ve settled our disputes.

Thanks to the Deity, we no longer need to be on guard against each other.

Although love is no longer between us, the innocent friendship of our childhood cannot be erased.

I hope that we can still keep this pure friendship in the future and always regard each other as friends.”

“‘Marriage after the Tolling of the Death Knell’, the closing of the third act, Master Mainea’s ten-minute monologue was truly touching.” Pannis twitched the corner of his mouth, whispering behind Catherine, “Freya’s habit of quoting lines is really sothing.

Quoting at such a ti, it seems like a natural instinct.”

“Shut up, don’t speak nonsense.” Catherine held back a laugh and rolled her eyes silently, patted Freya on the shoulder, “Okay, since we’ve forgiven each other, there’s no need to be sorrowful.

After all, as childhood friends, we may have to frequently et in future.

So, cheer up.”

“Dong, dong, dong.” The sound of footsteps resonated from the building again, and seven or eight people quickly erged from the doorway.

As soon as they stepped out, they saw the drama playing out near the door.

The crowd suddenly quietened in a strange silence, and a few familiar faces quickly hid behind the others.

The rest of the strangers imdiately looked up to the sky and their eyes drifted off, feigning ignorance as they quietly slid away down the street.

“All of you, stand right there.” Wesker’s temples throbbed, and he shouted angrily, “Are you planning to run away at a ti like this?”

With Wesker’s shout, the others no longer hid their intentions.

Each of them yelled out and ran off even faster, disappearing into the streets in the blink of an eye.

Only Wesker and Amanda were left behind, stomping their feet in frustration.

Finding the scene amusing despite her lancholy, Freya couldn’t help herself but laugh.

She shook her head and asked in resignation, “Are these your friends?

You all seem to have a strong bond.”

“Yes, they are.

Their elders were officers in the rcenary group my father was part of,” Wesker admitted awkwardly.

“I used to spend ti with them when you weren’t around.

We’re the closest friends I’ve got.

After we all grew up, we built a small rcenary group, which is now dium-sized.

Our shared goal is to follow in our parents’ footsteps and make our rcenary group one of the top ten through our own efforts.”

“Quite an ambitious target,” Freya nodded.

“I wish you success.

Once you achieve it, I will co and give you a congratulatory gift.”

“Thank you,” replied Wesker, feeling sowhat awkward in Freya’s presence.

To change the subject, he asked, “Did you co to the City of Freedom for a mission?

Let know if you need any help.”

“No, we’re just passing by,” Catherine answered.

“We previously went to the deep sea to interact with the Sea Race and have just returned from the port.

We’ve been at sea for almost a month, so we want to relax at the Kate Blue Hotel before finding an inn to rest.

We’ll probably stay in the City of Freedom for another couple of days before returning to the Holy City.”

“Do you need a guide?” Wesker asked politely.

“Our rcenary group has so free ti over the next few days.

We could show you around to prevent you from getting lost.”

“No need, we’ve visited the City of Freedom many tis,” Catherine declined, smiling.

“While we may not know the place as well as locals do, we’re familiar with every street here.

We don’t want to disrupt your work.”

“All right.

But don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything,” said Wesker, nodding.

Then, as if sothing occurred to him, he added, “Oh, you might not know this since you’ve just returned from the deep sea, but soone has been trying to get in touch with you through several Guild information channels.”

“Looking for us?” Catherine asked, taken aback.

The group exchanged confused glances.

“What’s going on?”

“I’m not sure,” Wesker shrugged.

“I overheard it by accident.

I didn’t think I’d run into you, so I didn’t ask for details.

But it seed urgent.

If you want to know more, you could ask at the Guild Hall tomorrow.

They should have the exact information.”

“Thank you very much,” Catherine replied seriously.

“Without your information, we might have missed sothing crucial.”

“No problem.” Wesker scratched his head.

“Well, we won’t disturb you any longer.

Enjoy your ti in the City of Freedom.”

Wesker, taking Amanda with him, bowed.

In the middle of it, Amanda peeked out to stick her tongue at Freya in a cute grimace.

But as soon as she saw Lina and Vivian pointing at her and glaring, she quickly hid behind her brother again, giving the two girls an angry stare from halfway behind him.

As the brother and sister left hand in hand, Catherine frowned in thought and muttered, “Who might be looking for us?

Has sothing happened at ho?

Did the Flower and Grass Sisters lose control and hurt a neighbor?

But that shouldn’t be possible.

Rachel and the others are keeping an eye on them.

There should be no major issues.”

“Why are you thinking so much?” Lina, back to her usual self, pushed Catherine from behind.

“We can ask at the rcenary Guild tomorrow.

Co on, it’s getting dark, and we haven’t reached the hotel yet.

And later, we still need to find an inn.

So troubleso!”

“Stop pushing,” Catherine said with a bitter smile.

“We’ll figure it out tomorrow, then.” (To be continued.
