Chapter 1451: Chapter 237 Nellie’s Ultimate Goal
“It seems you’re stalling for ti,” Danacus slowly descended the bone steps from his throne, standing before Pannis with a sly smile. “I think, maybe you’re still harboring so unrealistic fantasies? You surely don’t believe that at this point, the original owner of this body still has a fortuitous chance to take control of it again, do you? Hehehe, if you really think like that, then you are far too naive. True, she had been barely suppressing before, preventing from taking control, but that was only because I was still asleep. Her will is indeed strong, as humans go, she is quite exceptional, but humans, after all, are just humans, incomparable to deities. No, they don’t even qualify to be compared, and my re instinctual reactions in slumber were almost too much for her to combat. Now that I am awake, the mont I woke up, I regained control of the body. Do you think she has any chance of taking it back?”
“Anything is possible. Until sothing happens, no one can be certain about the odds of it occurring. An absolute impossibility is a judgnt that seems out of place, Grimreaper.” Pannis calmly t Danacus’s gaze, or rather, he calmly looked into the eyes that once belonged to Nellie. Such familiar eyes, which had once gazed at him like this countless tis, each ti their affection seed to lt his heart, but now, they’ve beco so strange, void of emotion, cold as the cruelty of death itself. Thinking of the story behind these changes, Pannis slowly closed his eyes, heaved a deep sigh, and managed a faint smile. “After all, she is still in her own body. You haven’t devoured her, nor have you completely banished her, so how can you be sure that what I’m hoping for won’t happen?”
“Unrealistic fantasies, childish,” scoffed Danacus. “I don’t devour her now only to have the opportunity to tornt her soul after everything is over. During my slumber, she’s caused quite a bit of trouble. It would be really disappointing if I couldn’t properly tornt her.”
“Well, only you know the real reason,” Pannis’s expression darkened as he spoke softly. “You can say whatever you like, since no one can refute you. However, I will never believe what you say; I trust only my own judgnt. I understand Nellie, and although you’ve taken over her body and possibly seen most of her mories, I know her better than you do. Her fearlessness, her strength, her defiance is incomparable. As long as her soul is alive, she will never cease to resist, and even if she must die, she would drag you down with her. I believe in her more than I believe in myself, I know she will do so, and therefore, your words have no effect on , not to say the impact you hoped for.”
“Hahahahaha, you’re as fragile as when we last t,” Danacus laughed even louder. “If it truly had no effect, your face wouldn’t look the way it does now. Your change just goes to show you believe my words.”
“No, I am just a bit angry,” Pannis replied darkly. “Even though I know you are lying, trying to stir my emotions, to shake my will, I can’t help but feel this rage. More than when I first ca in, I now look forward to the mont when I will kill you with my own hands.”
“It appears you truly trust her, no wonder she trusts you so much,” Danacus sneered sinisterly. “Even at the last mont, all she thought about was you. She laid many sches in secret when I hadn’t completely suppressed her. Her ultimate aim was to have you face here, hoping you would kill , take over my theocracy, and beco the new God of Death. What makes her think you are capable of killing , I cannot comprehend. Does she really think with that arrow belonging to Artemis that you hold, you’d have a chance to take my life? Hahahaha, stop with the jokes. At my weakest, perhaps there was a chance, but now, it’s nothing but a fantasy for you two.”
“I don’t see it that way, Grimreaper,” Pannis said, not finding the situation amusing at all. He pulled out the slender Hundred Layer Box from the bag on his back, took out the Hunting Arrow, and tossed the box aside carelessly. Playing with the most dangerous and most precious arrow between his fingers, he narrowed his eyes and whispered, “Unless you take back the divine power within now, I’d say I have a pretty good chance of success if I shoot this arrow with divine power, especially now that you have a body.”
“Then why don’t you try?” In the mont she saw the Hunting Arrow, Nellie’s pupils constricted, and for so reason, her gaze showed not only concern but also an almost imperceptible hint of delight. “Since you’re so deluded, let the truth prove your foolishness.”
“I’ve told you, I’m not in a hurry, not at all,” Pannis said, scratching his cheek with the arrow’s tail. Looking up, he continued, “See, the weather is so nice, perfect for a leisurely sunbath. Rather than experinting now, isn’t it better to sit down and have a relaxed chat? Why the rush?”
“You’re stalling again,” Danacus finally beca wary. “It seems you have made other preparations and need ti to complete them.”
“Hehe, maybe that’s the case, but actually, I’m mostly just Curiosity,” Pannis said evasively. “For example, you’ve just ntioned her plan.”
“You’re interested in that plan?” Danacus replied with a sneer. “Indeed, all the obstacles she set for were so you could have the chance to co here and confront , then steal my theocracy. If you succeed, you’d beco the new God of Death, wielding the Power of Death, guiding the world according to your whims. That was her naively childish plan, which almost made laugh when I first saw it in her mories.”
“Is it my imagination?” Pannis squinted and asked. “It seems you’re quite looking forward to that outco, so much that you’re willing to share her thoughts aloud.”
“Because it’s nothing but a joke,” Danacus said dismissively. “Who would care about a joke?”
“A joke, huh?” Pannis responded ambiguously. “Well then, are there any other jokes? Let hear them as well.”
