1226: Chapter 12 Secret eting 1226: Chapter 12 Secret eting “Let’s stop discussing this issue for now,” Flare said gloomily, staring at Pannis.
Pannis, however, looked back at her leisurely, a faint smile on his face.
It took the queen a long ti to sternly say, “Although ti is running out, there’s no rush within a day.
You have traveled a long way from the Core Area and must be very tired.
Rest for today, and we can talk about everything else tomorrow.”
“That’s fine,” Pannis nodded and smiled.
“I’d like to stay in one of those rooms atop the trees again tonight, the view overlooking the Lost Forest is really nice.”
“No problem, those rooms are unoccupied anyway,” said Flare, seemingly very tired, massaging her nose weakly.
“Let Muir take you there.
I’m exhausted and need to have so tea and rest.
I won’t be hosting you tonight, we’ll et again tomorrow.”
“Then we’ll be going first,” Pannis clapped Catherine on the shoulder, waved goodbye to Flare, and left the reception room with a relaxed air.
As soon as he stepped out of the door, he saw Muir standing with crossed arms, leaning against the trunk of the World Tree, watching everyone with a curious expression.
Pannis, casually holding a cuisha fruit, tossed it at him and teased, “You rascal, eavesdropping, that’s awful.”
“Do you think everyone’s like you?
Besides, do I need to eavesdrop?” Muir dodged Pannis’s fruit attack, scoffing.
“You’re heading to the top level?
Then follow , but it’s a long way, not as quick as last ti.”
“You girls go up with him,” Pannis looked down and thought for a mont, then told the young won, “I’m going down to the market to buy so things, and I’ll also visit a few old friends in the residential area.
I’ll be back after I finish.”
“Sure,” surprisingly, the girls seed to have reached a consensus, acting as if nothing had happened, especially Catherine, who seed unconcerned about Pannis’s earlier words and just nodded gently.
“But you’ve had the hardest ti recently and need to rest well, so whatever you do, co back early tonight and don’t worry us.”
“Uh, I know,” Pannis looked at the young won before him, taken aback, and hesitated before nodding, “Then I’ll be going first.”
“What’s wrong, is there sothing strange?” Catherine, puzzled by Pannis’s gaze, looked down at herself.
“Is there sothing wrong with ?”
“No, nothing’s wrong, everything’s quite normal,” Pannis shook his head vigorously and sighed, “Don’t worry, I won’t be too late.
I’m just eting with so old friends to catch up; it will be quick.”
“Then we’ll wait for you to have dinner together,” Catherine said calmly, “Mr.
Muir, we can still enjoy the fine cuisine of the Elves tonight, right?
Ever since tasting it last ti, I haven’t been able to forget it.”
“Of course, it would be our honor,” Muir said gentlemanly, bowing with a hand to his chest, and motioning with his hand, “Ladies, please follow , this way.”
Watching the young girls follow Muir and leave, Pannis could hardly hide the surprise and awe in his eyes.
He did not exhale a soft sigh until the girls had disappeared among the branches and leaves, skillfully climbing down the vines.
It was not long before his feet touched the forest floor again.
As soon as he landed, a thin stream of water sprayed towards him.
Pannis slightly sidestepped, avoiding the water droplets playfully sprayed by the fairies.
With the fairies scrambling to hide, he shook his head in resignation, walked past the vines and aerial roots hanging to the ground, and stepped out of the World Tree-covered area.
Soon after leaving the World Tree, one could see the once-bustling market of the Elven Royal Court.
Because war might break out at any ti, the market area of the King’s Court had beco much quieter.
Many shops had closed, and whether the owners who had leased those shops would have an opportunity to co back and reopen was anyone’s guess.
However, even so, more than half of the shops were still open.
It was only the afternoon, and there were still quite a few custors coming and going, making the market seem barely operational.
However, Pannis did not shop in the market area as he had said.
He just wandered around the market district, eventually turning into a quiet side street.
After walking for five minutes along this path, Pannis suddenly stopped, stared at a tree house beside the road which likely had fifteen or sixteen rooms.
The sign hanging at the entrance of the tree house, bearing strange patterns, indicated the nature of the business.
As he pushed open the door and entered, soft harp music and a gentle female voice humming an unintelligible song could be heard.
The song was intermittent, but its sound was soothing to the soul.
“Oh, a human guest, that’s quite rare,” said the female store owner, who was leisurely playing the harp and singing for her own amusent in the lobby at the entrance.
She lazily lifted her head upon hearing soone enter and imdiately saw Pannis.
She greeted him with surprise and then seed to rember sothing, “Ah, I rember now, you might have co here a hundred and seventeen years ago, no wait, it must have been even earlier, about a hundred and twenty years ago when you first ca.
Oh, isn’t your knight friend with you this ti?”
“Ah, you still rember,” Pannis twitched at the corner of his mouth but did not respond to the question about the knight friend.
Instead, he counter-questioned, “I am here to et soone today; I’ve already made an appointnt with a friend.”
“Ah, I see,” the Elf store owner cleverly guessed the implication and nodded, “You are here to see Her Majesty, right?
The Queen just went in not long ago.
She’s in the room she often uses.”
“Isn’t she sitting in a public space this ti?” Pannis asked, “I rember she prefers public spaces.”
“Not this ti, she seems to have sothing on her mind, looking quite somber,” the store owner shook her head, “But it doesn’t make much difference nowadays.
There have been no custors these days.
Both the public space and the private rooms are the sa.”
“Yes, her mood has indeed been off today,” Pannis said with a smile, nodding, “I guess it will be hard for her to feel better any ti soon, but don’t worry, soday she will feel better.”
Ignoring the puzzled look on the female store owner’s face, Pannis walked up the stairs inside the tree house.
After descending a few floors, he stood in front of a wooden door adorned with natural wood grain.
“Co in,” Flare’s deep and gentle voice ca from inside, “I didn’t expect you to arrive so soon.
It seems you managed to soothe them pretty easily.”
