Chapter Four Hundred and Thirty-Three [My World]
The passage of ti in the copied space felt sowhat off.
Chen Nuo had calculated that since midnight, when he was dragged into this place by The Fourth Seed, several hours had passed.
By the normal flow of ti, it should be morning by now.
But this world remained pitch-dark.
The three girls had already started searching for food.
Before finding a way to break free, the priority was to ensure survival, and food and water were essentials.
Fortunately, food was not a problem for the ti being.
Opening the door to Room 504 and throwing down a rope, one could descend to the outside.
This residential building was destroyed, but the surrounding neighborhood was still there.
The three girls took on the task of gathering food while Chen Nuo drew a simple map of the area from mory.
When the girls went out, they quickly found food in the nearby convenience stores.
Rice, flour, drinking water, and various dry goods and snacks.
Chen Nuo, on the other hand, took the opportunity to carefully study the space of this place.
All the spatial rules here were intact, yet they had beco very fragile.
And the space of Room 504, this "old ho," was even more fragile.
Chen Nuo even felt that using his teleportation abilities here, with the spatial movent involved, could cause this place to completely collapse.
He actually wanted to try it, as the collapse of this misaligned space might allow him to escape this copied world and return to reality.
But, he didn’t dare to be too reckless.
There was only one chance, and what if it didn’t work?
Hiding here, The Fourth Seed still couldn’t find him. If he ruined this place and didn’t make it out,
there would no longer be a safe refuge.
Chen Nuo made another attempt.
He discovered that the connection between this misaligned space and the copied world’s space was blocked off.
This blockage seed to be a kind of spatial rule.
Well, to draw an analogy, it was like a wall.
However, this wall had so issues.
Chen Nuo found that he could actually move this "wall".
He quietly made an attempt.
The three girls didn’t notice that when they went out to forage and then returned, the door of Room 504 had actually moved a few centiters from its original position.
Chen Nuo ca to a conclusion. So, I can actually move this space.
This misaligned space of Room 504 was like a small boat floating on the copied world.
He could steer it.
Then, he carefully retracted all his energy and began to watch the outside world with caution.
It seed that this thod did not alert The Fourth Seed.
But that was where the problem lay.
If this world was a space copied by The Fourth Seed from his own mory,
then why couldn’t The Fourth Seed detect this place?
That is to say, if The Fourth Seed created this space based on the mories in his mind.
Then it’s as if there were a blueprint in his mind.
And The Fourth Seed built this space following that blueprint.
But how could the creator not know about the secret room?
So... it didn’t make sense.
So... it wasn’t a copy?
"We need to get moving, and before we do, we have to gather as many usable resources as possible."
Chen Nuo gathered the three girls and shared his thoughts.
The search circle for food began to expand.
Quickly, based on mory, they found a farrs’ market two kiloters away. They managed to secure a large supply of food from the market.
After discussing several ergency plans, Chen Nuo decided to take action.
Brother Lei gnawed on a piece of dry bread and drank half a bottle of mineral water.
The food had been carried up from a convenience store on the roadside.
After eating, Brother Lei tiptoed to the balcony, picked up a pair of binoculars, and took a look outside.
On a building a hundred ters away, on the tenth floor, the third window from the left.
There was a celebrity poster stuck on the window.
Brother Lei breathed a slight sigh of relief and then picked up a walkie-talkie.
"Lin Sheng? Lin Sheng?"
"I’m here, Brother Lei."
"Is everything okay on your end?"
"All good," ca the voice of Zhang Linsheng. "I’ll head out in ten minutes and search the western area. How does that sound?"
"Alright, run if you encounter any danger."
"I know."
The conversation ended.
Brother Lei turned and stuffed the rest of the bread into his mouth, swallowing it in a few gulps.
Sitting in the pitch-dark room, he sighed helplessly.
Shit, what kind of situation is this?
In fact, many people have had a similar fantasy when they were children: What if everyone in the world disappeared, leaving only ...
In the fantasies of our youth, it’s actually pretty exhilarating.
All the things in the world would be at my disposal.
The ice cream in the freezer on the street, eat it however I want.
The video gas in the arcade, play them however I want.
And so on.
But at this mont, Brother Lei’s real experience made him realize that when he recalled his youthful fantasy, his current real feeling was:
Dammit, it’s not fun at all!
He and Zhang Linsheng had separated after discussing it together.
Staying together ant that if that mysterious expert caught them, they’d both be done for, so it was safer to split up.
They found a communication equipnt shop and got walkie-talkies—these devices could communicate without any network.
After the explosion, Jinling City was without electricity, and there had been no network to speak of from the start.
The communication range of the walkie-talkies was about five hundred ters—but in the city, the high buildings would block the signal, so the actual range was reduced by about half.
The two of them operated separately, maintaining a certain distance, agreed on tis, found places to hide, rested, ate, and then slowly explored the surrounding areas.
Trying to find out where Chen Nuo and the others were.
The process was very slow.
Jinling City wasn’t too big or too small; after all, it was the capital of a province.
For two people to search on foot, silently, without making any noise, finding another person in a city... it was pretty much like looking for a needle in a haystack.
But beyond that, the two of them really couldn’t think of any better ideas.
Making so noise to attract Chen Nuo’s attention—such a foolish idea was imdiately dismissed by both of them.
It’d be terrible to not attract Chen Nuo but instead provoke their adversary who was even more formidable than Chen Nuo.
After eating, the two communicated once again before simultaneously leaving their temporary hiding spots.
Once out of the building, the two kept a distance of about one to two hundred ters apart—roughly the length of one street.
They walked slowly, heading westward.
What they didn’t know at the ti was that the direction they were moving in was gradually bringing them closer to where Chen Nuo was hiding.
"We’re going to split up?"
As soon as Chen Nuo shared his plan, the three girls imdiately voiced their objections, with Li Yingwan being the most vehent.
Firefly looked at Chen Nuo with a cold face, "I disagree!"
Without giving any ground, Chen Nuo quickly said, "I want to try to see if I can leave this city, but the thod I want to try might be dangerous... I’m worried that if I touch the edge of the city, it might trigger so reaction that lets our adversary detect us."
Li Yingwan misunderstood and imdiately said, "So, you need us to go out to create so distractions to draw that guy away? No problem!"
The other two girls who had planned to object seed to imdiately accept this idea—they were unwilling to separate, but if it was for protecting Chen Nuo by sacrificing themselves as bait, they wouldn’t hesitate at all.
"This isn’t a bait operation," Chen Nuo clarified directly. "I don’t want you to create any distractions!"
After a pause, Chen Nuo added, "If I encounter an enemy alone, I at least have a chance to contend with them, or even escape, but with the three of you, that chance greatly diminishes."
Although they were extrely reluctant, upon realizing that they might beco a burden or hold him back, the three girls fell silent.
Chen Nuo quickly made a decision, "That settles it!"
"Then let the two of them leave, and I’ll stay with you to try so periter probing," Xicheng Xun suddenly spoke up.
The two girls imdiately turned and glared at her.
Unperturbed, Xicheng Xun said calmly, "Considering overall combat strength, I am the strongest here besides the BOSS. Both of you are not a match for . Moreover, my Body Technique and concealnt abilities are quite good. Even if I engage the enemy, I have ways to assist the BOSS...
"Li Yingwan, you now have the physical body from 2002!
"In the current tiline, the 2002 version of you hasn’t gone through any rigorous training! Your physical condition and your combat ability are all very weak, and you haven’t even developed your abilities! Moreover, we can’t find military arms here, so your abilities are greatly weakened!
"Right now, your combat capability isn’t much stronger than a regular person.
"The sa goes for you, Niveer!
"On the 2002 tiline, the bodies you possess now have not undergone any developnt or training of abilities. You’re a bit stronger than the average person, but in a fight, you won’t be of much real use.
"As for , my abilities were showcased and developed very early on! I am already an Ability User!
"With outstanding close-combat abilities, when fighting is necessary, I can even take on the role of covering the retreat and drawing the enemy’s attention."
Li Yingwan imdiately retorted, "I acknowledge your Body Technique and your close-combat abilities—but since when did you have concealnt abilities?!"
Without a word, Xicheng Xun gave a slight smile, and with a flash, her figure suddenly vanished! Before everyone’s eyes, where Xicheng Xun had just been standing, now only a set of clothes floated in mid-air!
Xicheng Xun then chuckled, retracted her ability, and allowed herself to beco visible again. "I discovered this ability just now... I also don’t know why the 2002 version of has such an ability."
The two girls frowned in thought, then turned to look at Chen Nuo.
"Why is her strength at this level in 2002? So BOSS, you brought us back to 2002, turned us into ordinary people but still assisted her in awakening her ability?!" Li Yingwan complained discontentedly.
"Just a reminder, even in my last life, I awakened my abilities before I t the BOSS," Xicheng Xun said coldly.
"Stop arguing!" Niveer took a deep breath, then surprisingly nodded. "Priority should be given to the success of the mission! I agree with Little Blueberry’s argunts."
Chen Nuo wanted to say sothing, but Xicheng Xun looked at him, squinting her eyes. "Analytically, I am useful to you! If you insist on staying, I can only assu you just want to get rid of us—regardless of your reasons for wanting to do so. Even if it’s for my safety, I won’t accept it."
Well, Little Blueberry was just that stubborn. Whatever she said was non-negotiable. This person only wanted to reason things out.
Chen Nuo felt a bit of a headache coming on.
But the three girls had already moved the conversation forward.
Niveer had already taken out a map and started marking several locations. "If we get separated by accident, we et up at these spots..."
Li Yingwan said, "I’ll rely on the map to search for the law enforcent departnts in the city and see if I can find so usable gear."
"The rest of the supplies will be left to us," Xicheng Xun quickly said. "You’ll find it easier to gather supplies staying in Jinling."
"Okay," Li Yingwan agreed.
"And we need a few old-style digital walkie-talkies for communication," Xicheng Xun continued.
"Got it," Li Yingwan replied. "It’s 2002 now; you won’t find the more advanced walkie-talkies anyway."
The girls wrapped up the discussion in a few words, then all turned to look at Chen Nuo.
"..." Chen Nuo sighed and nodded. "Alright, let’s do that."
"Everyone, do your best in your tasks, and... don’t die aninglessly," Xicheng Xun told the other two girls in a low voice.
A rope was dropped from the open door, and Li Yingwan and Niveer descended to the ground one after the other.
Then the door closed, and they were no longer visible.
The two girls on the ground looked at each other.
"Split up?"
"Yes, let’s et at the first rendezvous point in two hours."
Chen Nuo stood by the window, watching Li Yingwan and Niveer, who had gone in separate directions on the ground.
Behind him, there was a rustling sound.
Chen Nuo turned around and frowned, "What are you doing?"
Xicheng Xun was already down to her underwear.
"Just doing what needs to be done," Xicheng Xun said calmly, then, without caring about Chen Nuo’s gaze, took off her underwear and just stood there in front of him.
Chen Nuo’s face was a bit awkward as he imdiately looked away.
Xicheng Xun seed taken aback for a mont, then burst out laughing, "BOSS?"
"Hmm?"
"You look really weird right now."
"...Uh?"
Xicheng Xun’s eyes held a strange smile. "You’ve seen my body before, after all. You’ve seen it when I was injured, and... during that operation in Australia, we jumped into that energy field together, and eventually, everyone had to walk out of there naked...
"Your current expression... it’s like... like..."
Chen Nuo: "..."
Xicheng Xun suddenly laughed, "BOSS? Is it because of my age now?
"Or is it that in our previous life, you had no interest in in my twenties or thirties.
"But now, faced with my teenage body, it particularly stirs your male instincts?"
Saying this, Xicheng Xun suddenly stepped forward, closing in on Chen Nuo, and whispered with a laugh, "Actually, as you know, you can do anything to ... There should still be ti, don’t you want to try?"
Chen Nuo sighed, his face stern as he pointed to the quilt on the bed, "If you take one more step forward, you will be tied up again—do you want to try that?"
Damn it!
This life’s Xicheng Xun is adorable!
Xicheng Xun from the past life—no, including those other devils and fiends—always liked to seize every opportunity to stir up trouble!
Xicheng Xun pursed her lips, then turned around without bothering about the underwear on the ground and picked up her outer garnt to put it on.
"This is better. When I need to hide, I can quickly take off my outerwear to enter invisibility mode. And... it seems I can also teleport short distances... This ability, I didn’t have in my previous life."
Chen Nuo sighed, "Stop it, I’m starting to regret letting you gain this power."
Moving this misaligned space was like rowing on the surface of the water.
Chen Nuo could control the space, moving it silently and effortlessly, and the power it used seed minimal.
It was as if, with Chen Nuo’s sensing power, he found this independent Room 504 space extrely easy to manipulate.
Chen Nuo’s "old ho," originally located near the northern edge of Jinling City,
was only about a kiloter away from the riverbank.
And monts later, when Chen Nuo moved the misaligned space to the edge of the city...
Chen Nuo and Xicheng Xun stood side by side at the window, looking outside.
Beyond the edge of the city...
There was a void!
As if shrouded by a thick fog that no light could penetrate.
"What do we do? Go straight out?" Xicheng Xun asked.
After thinking for a mont, Chen Nuo opened the window, then picked up a middle school exercise book from the shelf in the room and handed it to Xicheng Xun.
Xicheng Xun imdiately caught on, made a throwing motion, and tossed the book far into the foggy area!
The book sliced through the sky and flew into the foggy area, then promptly fell to the ground.
It was as if there was an invisible wall at the edge of the fog.
"What’s this? A barrier at the edge of space?" Xicheng Xun asked.
Chen Nuo didn’t say anything, then he picked up a pencil from the desk, squeezed it lightly in his hand, and threw it out the window!
The pencil traced through mid-air, falling into the foggy zone...
And then, the foggy area ahead began to disperse!
As the fog dispersed, the muddy banks of the river, wasteland, and the dim outlines of buildings in the distance gradually beca visible!
Xicheng Xun’s eyes widened instantaneously!
She watched as the fog cleared up in a small area... around the spot where the pencil had dropped, the fog slowly dissipated, but after clearing a large area, the fog stopped.
Further away, it was still foggy.
Chen Nuo’s lips curved into a thoughtful smile.
So... this is... ’My World’... I see.
The Fourth Seed... it really did fool !
