You find yourself in a large square of the ancient troglodyte stronghold. In so places, the stained glass (or perhaps a type of stone) that emits the light in this place is replaced by huge lanterns held by large Dwarf statues. These lanterns give off a mysterious bluish glow. Perhaps the effect of so particular stones?
Between the tall stone pillars of the hall, nurous piles of wood, weathered by ti and chewed on by Goblins, suggest that there may once have been stalls, small buildings, or other similar structures. Now, it is a large empty space scattered with various debris.
Ahead of you, you notice a wide staircase leading to a broad corridor above. Far to your left, a passage continues into a semi-dark, unsettling gloom. Ahead of you, slightly to the right, a path seems to slope gently upward to another level. Finally, directly to your right, a staircase appears to descend into the lower depths of the fortress.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
In the walls of the mountain, a few stone houses line up, their gaping openings giving the sinister impression of half-asleep giants watching you. Towards the middle of the square, surrounded by a surprisingly clean area despite the often-broken paving, a large fountain gurgles softly.
Will you explore the place? For example, take a closer look at the fountain at 534? Or explore the worm-eaten doors of these ancient houses at 552?
You may also leave the area. If you take the passage to the left, proceed to (for now, this passage is blocked…). If you climb the staircase, go to 406 and note code J7. The gentle slope to the right will take you to 529, and the staircase descending leads to 530.
