You manage to approach the door without difficulty. You notice that it is a large wooden door, designed for reasonably humanoid dinsions. It is fastened from the outside with a wooden latch.
Out of caution, before deciding to open it, you knock as hard and as softly as possible—a rather tricky contrast to achieve. You ask who is on the other side, and for a mont, you fear that the thickness of the barrier has blocked your voice. Yet, with the dragon so close, you cannot speak any louder. Fortunately, a small voice reaches your ears. You have a bit of trouble understanding it, but in essence, this is what is said:

Well… perhaps you misheard. Is “blond” really a necessary criterion? And why the horse?
Unsure if you are being heard, you assure the princess that she will soon be freed. Easy to say. Easy to do, since all you need to do is lift the latch. However, one final small detail remains:
