Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Like a Tidal Wave
The number of enemies is surging, and our first line of defense is nothing more than a nominal presence.
No one expected the Fallen Apostles to push the mother ship formation into the Main Material Plane in such a short ti. To push a mother ship into the battlefield, almost impossible to evade any artillery fire, after the vanguard suffered a saturation strike, is an extrely dangerous move. Yet, they indeed had the capital to take this risk: the number of enemies appearing before the Imperial Army far exceeded expectations. The joint shield ford by the Fallen Apostles’ mother ship formation blocked the follow-up attacks of the legion cannon position in a short ti. After a brief charge, the Galaxy Main Gun filled with Abyssal Aura swept across the asteroid belt like a flood, tearing the entire asteroid belt to pieces in an instant. The positions ford by the legion cannons were split into hundreds of fragnts, with nearly two-thirds of the artillery losing response in the first round of attacks. The remaining artillery, due to strong Ghost Energy interference, beca uncontrollable, having to rely on the AI equipped within them to fight individually.
Without the coordination of the information network, the legion cannons, which can only exert their advantages as part of a collective, quickly fell into chaos, and at this mont, the Imperial Fleet had to advance prematurely.
After just a few minutes of engagent, the entire asteroid belt had been swept clean, and all natural celestial bodies floating in space turned into basic particles. Everywhere one looked, the wrecks of warships began to pile up, including the recently demolished legion cannon positions, the vanguard fleet wreckage of the Fallen Apostles, and the warships of the Imperial Defense Army.
“Your Majesty! Unable to suppress! The Void Rift is expanding!”
More disastrous news ca from the “Rangers” formation: the power with which the Fallen Apostles assaulted this world had exceeded expectations. They were creating a gigantic Void Rift, and an unending stream of enemies was pouring in from it. We not only couldn’t prevent this rift from appearing but also couldn’t slow down its rate of expansion.
The Leaving World Courtyard System had to step in, doing its utmost to use mathematical corrections to create trouble for the Fallen Apostles’ coordinate positioning, which slightly alleviated the frontline soldiers’ pressure, yet the enemies continued to pour into this world.
“How is this possible, how can there be so many,” Sandora couldn’t help but exclaim, “Squad Four, is there a Mirror Generation Ship behind the enemy array?”
“No Mirror Generation Ship found. All enemy units on the battlefield are real objects. Found the Fallen Emperor Harlan’s emblem, and at least three other unidentified Emperor’s Emblems.”
“The United Forces, Harlan’s remnants, and other Emperors’ troops are attacking this universe together,” Sandora slamd the table, “They might have discovered the plan was exposed and are launching a fierce assault!”
Sandora’s guess was quickly confird as news ca from the defense forces resisting invasions in the other three worlds and from Father God’s side: the local invading forces suddenly weakened their onslaught. Except for those interference transmitters still working, the enemy’s main combat spaceships were leaving the current world in an orderly manner.
“They might be coming to support here,” Big Sister took a deep breath, “We must hold those guys off!”
“We are already doing that,” Sandora replied, “Other legions are trying their best to keep the local invading armies pinned, and there’s nothing to worry about on Father God’s side; not a single enemy under him will escape. However, before that, a part of the enemy from the other three worlds has already successfully made their way out. We’re likely to have trouble here soon.”
The trouble Sandora ntioned might be a while away, but we’re already feeling quite a bit of pressure now.
The attack from the Fallen Apostles is insane, of course, they’ve always been mad, but this ti the madness is different from before: they don’t seem to care about casualties and tactics anymore. All warships are advancing head-on towards the Imperial Army with the artillery fire, and for the attacking side that’s been intercepted, this tactic will definitely cause at least double the extra casualties, yet they still charge forward bravely. On the holographic projection of the bridge, almost every intuitive view has been occupied by the glaring lights and explosive flas; the mass of small red dots on the holographic screen swells into a patch, making it hard to discern number and formation. The ship’s main computer is about to go crazy, broadcasting an alert of high-energy reactions almost every few seconds, yet this alert now seems entirely useless; even without it saying anything, we can all see those high-energy reactions.
“Main computer, focus on firepower above the mother ships among the enemies, ignore ordinary alarms,” Sandora said impatiently, “Let the lower command hall handle ordinary alerts now.”
“The situation is not looking good. Shouldn’t we find reinforcents too?”
Qianqian looked at worriedly, occasionally shifting her weight; the artillery fire had not yet reached the Royal Fleet, but the warships of the Royal Fleet had already begun releasing distant firepower. The shock from activating the three special Galaxy Main Guns equipped on the Imperial Admiral gave a kind of seasick illusion, which Qianqian disliked.
“The Great Governor is already on the way, bringing along the just-operational War Song—that at least counts as high-level combat strength.”
Sandora let out a breath, speaking in a deep tone.
I connected with the Revenge Fleet, and imdiately, a grandiose female soprano blasted from the other end: “Hello, who is this! This ship’s last na is Chen!”
The unhinged AI now only rembers its last na as Chen…
“How soon can you reach the battlefield,” I took a deep breath, “The defense line is critical, the enemy numbers exceed expectations, and their support units are already on the way; you’d better arrive before them.”
“This ship is jumping right now! Your Excellency General can hold them off! Piece of cake, piece of cake ha! Once this ship gets over there, it’ll blow those bastards to bits—back in the day, this ship had 765 main guns…”
I promptly hung up the communication with the Revenge Army and shrugged at Sandora: “Honestly, I don’t think they can get here any sooner than the Fallen Apostles’ reinforcents.”
The Royal Fleet rapidly engaged in the fight, with more powerful artillery, more sophisticated fire control equipnt, and sturdier warships. When the most elite units of the Imperial Army engaged with the Invading Army, the enemy’s offensive was finally suppressed sowhat. The Assault Fleet had completely left the frontline battlefield, and both sides were now in a mother ship bombardnt state, with small spaceships’ operational space on the frontline greatly restricted. Pandora and Visca, leading a batch of high-firepower heavy marauder ships, left the formation to infiltrate the space folds, taking a wide path to attack from the enemy’s flank. However, this operation did not go smoothly from the start as the Fallen Apostles maintained the highest level of vigilance while mounting a strong assault: Pandora reported they found an astonishing number of Floating Cannons on the opponent’s flank, and they even used light carriers as escort ships.
Luckily, the squad was led by such war madn like Pandora and Visca; before leaving, they still desperately fired at least a thousand tons of Jumping Heavy Missiles into those Floating Cannon positions, returning completely smoking.
“Detected multiple infiltration points,” the shipboard computer suddenly interrupted with an unusual alert as the battle here reached a stalemate. “Many Void Rifts have appeared in this universe, with nurous mass reactions forming in space, estimation for a full-scale invasion in fifteen minutes.”
“Damn it!” Bingdisi couldn’t help but curse, “This is insane! Did they bring out their entire secret stash of forces?”
“They’ve probably mobilized at least half of their military strength,” I quickly thought through my limited knowledge, “The Imperial Army has half of its forces stationed across various worlds, and it’s impossible for them to completely pull back to deal with this invasion. So, the enemy only needs to bring over half of their national military to form an absolute nurical superiority against us. But conversely—at this ti, their holand must be exceedingly empty, at least I don’t believe after dispatching so many fleets, there would be much Defense Army left on Harlan’s territory…”
“They aren’t fools, why would they do sothing so senseless? Aren’t they afraid of getting their house raided?” my sister exclaid in surprise. Sandora shook her head, “Fighting with madn is the most troubleso; they aren’t afraid of casualties. I even suspect that Harlan has already been abandoned. He has lost too much power, like Bellavilla ntioned, in a wicked group like the Fallen Apostle, soone who has lost military strength yet still occupies a large Sky Zone will inevitably be overthrown. If this world indeed has a target of sufficient value, the Fallen Apostle might be willing to sacrifice Harlan’s territories and troops entirely, because they are controlled by an unseen manipulator and have no ans to resist.”
“The question is, what’s so attractive about this world…” Qianqian mumbled, swaying her body, just as the warship suddenly jolted violently, causing her to almost fall over, “Ahhh! I’ve had enough!”
“Prepare to engage in the battle.”
Sandora gazed at the red spots on the radar that were spreading slowly but visibly to the naked eye, her voice calm and steady, “No matter what the enemy intends, just fight them off.”
I glanced at Qianqian and my sister. To be honest, emotionally, I wasn’t keen on them charging into battle, but it seems even they themselves have grown accustod to going to war by now: Qianqian has even learned to fly a fighter, and my sister dexterously pulled out a sketchbook commonly used by elentary students, the thick variety…
Is this the legendary “born into a general’s family, never laying down arms”? Did I say that right? Although the armor they use is a bit odd.
Pandora and Visca have been fighting outside for too long, having nearly depleted the armory of four regints. The two firepower enthusiasts, both only 1.2 ters tall, returned steaming. They still wanted to go out and continue fighting, for which I had to once again plant an egg on Visca’s cheek to demonstrate my stance: the egg instantly charred, so now the two Shorties were temporarily kept in the main flagship to rest. anwhile, the Divine Clan’s Five, who had rested enough ti after the last world’s battle, just charged to the front lines. They’re currently pursuing a group of Eternal-class Mother Ships that lost their Joint Shield, this fleet was separated due to Monina’s ambush: Monina used omnipresent Shadows in space to cut off the enemy’s perception channels, leading the warships to mistakenly believe they had been teleported to Other Space, resulting in them rashly charging into an open area.
Qianqian hadn’t been to the battlefield in a long ti, and her other persona made uneasy, as the volatile dark version of Qianqian was erratic, and would do anything except harm allies. But I could only restrain the obedient and sensible version of Qianqian. Once she darkens, no one can stop her. The enraged Master of Ti in a shuttle bolted straight into outer space, my sister and I couldn’t even keep up with her: she accelerated herself.
Apart from Sandora who needed to stay on the flagship to command the battle, the rest of us who were of little use in commanding stood personally on the battlefield. Qianqian just rushed ahead; behind her followed a formidable crowd of fierce girls and tough guys…
The shuttle itself is a relatively fragile unit without a strong Shield and only lightweight arms, yet Qianqian loved this swift and thrilling thing. Its speed was extrely fast, with flexible responsiveness, requiring no complicated navigational skills. For a lively girl with thousands of ideas bouncing in her mind all the ti, this thing was an absolute treasure. Qianqian had her own shuttle, painted in her favorite light blue—at least, the recently favorite light blue. Once this little Flying Device hit the battlefield, it was imdiately noticed by the enemy radar, then specifically targeted by a group of Escort Ships: this should have been incredibly dangerous, but in reality, you couldn’t find sothing stronger than that thing here, because it used ti as its Shield.
It might be a talent developed after mastering the power of ti. Qianqian possesses an “imdiate response” ability that even Taville cannot explain. She can grasp the temporal gaps in any event; as long as it occurs and exists within the tiline, no matter how fleeting it is, it can’t escape Qianqian’s intuition. She never worries about things happening too fast for her to react because no matter how instantaneous, things appear like still images to her. This is why we trust Qianqian to pilot the shuttle alone to the frontline.
She can lock onto every attack directed at her and spend several hours figuring out how to avoid getting hit. During this process, she can even play a couple of rounds of tile-matching gas and dodge the incoming artillery when bored, or simply render them ineffective. Then, amidst the nearly still battlefield, she’ll space out for a few minutes before considering how to tackle the next shell… As long as that thing isn’t too high-level, she has always handled things this way.
It’s a fact that brings much frustration: In everyone’s eyes, Qianqian is excessively full of energy, darting around lively and swiftly all day long. However, in her own mind, she considers herself pretty laid-back and slow-paced; she said this herself. Alright, I’ll take it as her joking then.
From the mont an escort ship’s rapid-fire cannon is triggered to when it fires, it takes no longer than the fall of a pistol’s trigger. Yet, this is more than enough ti for Qianqian to react countless tis. The small shuttle advances boldly amid the dense artillery, all attacks passing through its body as if hitting a shadow. The process resembles anti-phasing, but it’s actually Qianqian’s ultimate defensive ability, initiated mont by mont as “ti gaps.” This seems insane — that daring girl relies solely on her incredibly high “reaction speed” to flicker between current and displaced ti gaps. Each flicker lasts probably less than a hundred millionth of a femtosecond (thereby reducing the gap’s consumption to almost zero), imperceptible to the naked eye but sufficient to render any attack futile. A master of ti is terrifying. If it were Silvia, she’d probably be riddled with holes — even I could hit that slow-responding mole with a water gun.
“I’ll make sure you die magnificently—how about so BBQ?!”
Qianqian shot straight into the center of a large group of escort ships. While the mystified Fallen Apostle pilots frantically bombarded the indestructible shuttle in vain, a sinister voice suddenly echoed across all channels. Before the enemies could react, chaos ensued.
A vast area of black and red enemy ships abruptly went dead silent, suspended in space. Blue flas started burning from the inside out as surplus Ghost Energy leaked from their weapon systems, igniting the ships’ interiors. All energy output paths of the ships were sealed off, leaving their Energy Furnaces trapped in “full output mode,” unable to extricate themselves. Qianqian can control multiple tilines of an object individually, speeding, slowing, or stopping them, creating almost infinite combinations. For instance, she stopped the transmission of Ghost Energy while allowing its deadly impact to persist. Through her ticulous manipulation, the small blue shuttle soon found itself surrounded by hundreds of sealed tombs burning fiercely inside.
It’s like a vast stretch of foxfire floating in space.
She halted the ships’ external movents and energy exchanges while catalyzing their power and fire systems, akin to completely sealing a boiler and tossing in tons of catalysts. This has beco Qianqian’s preferred combat style as she becos more familiar with her power, producing effects that transcend re ti acceleration and deceleration, exuding a high-tech flavor. In her darkened form, she declares this to have more “artistic value” than those brutal, decaying attacks.
The crew inside those Abyssalized ships might take over half an hour to burn to death, given the Fallen Apostles’ incredibly tenacious life force. It’s truly a lengthy BBQ.
After resolving all this, the off-kilter Qianqian leisurely returned. She had no choice but to co back because the enemy’s mothership fleet had noticed the single shuttle akin to one possessed by hundreds of Ultran coated in divine oil undergoing three transformations. At least dozens of Galaxy Main Guns were charging in this direction, and even an outburst of twenty rage pipes from Qianqian wouldn’t withstand this onslaught.
“Frankly speaking, she is darker than the darkest Dark Divine Race,” Bingdisi tossed a hardcover book up and down with one hand while holding a radiant Warhamr with the other, looking quite mismatched, as if this rogue woman were proficient with all eighteen kinds of weapons, “What exactly does she have against this world…”
“Enemies are everywhere.” Big Sister worriedly watched the distant chaotic lights, where a final successful sneak attack by Hidden Boom against the enemy army had caused them so trouble but didn’t seem to have inflicted any effective damage. Dense high-energy rays and Jumping Warheads wove a silent web of fire at so distance from us. Using herself as the core, Big Sister created a probability zone where any aid firepower would deflect through various mishaps. Yet, the enemies seed endless, and even cutting-edge forces appeared to have limited effect in such a battlefield. (To be continued.
