Chapter 698: Chapter 698: Ascension Plan?
The demons that had been replaced temporarily for a rest quickly gathered under the highly proactive summoning by Moriya, forming a fan shape on the largest clearing on the mountainside.
Looking at the circle of attentive eyes in front of and a few faces mixed in that could probably guess their nas but not call them out directly at this mont, I contacted the mother ship in outer space to prepare the projection system while organizing my language.
This place is the holand of Boli Lingng, dear to Yukari Yakumo’s heart, the last sanctuary of the demons, and now they both are my friends. Hence, I decided to reduce the impact of the Atlantis incident on this world as much as possible, and the first step was how to make these sowhat isolated demons aware of the crisis their world was facing.
But before that, I felt I should resolve the Eight Diagram crisis I was facing: what on Earth was that flying around in the sky!
A black-haired young girl in a white shirt and black short skirt had been flying around above us since a while ago, her identity revealed by the black wings extending from her back and the cara in her hands: Shi Maru Wen, the infamous tengu and leading tabloid journalist in Fantasy Country.
Reportedly, Shi Maru Wen’s cara contains records of the underwear styles of all the girls in Fantasy Country, and her notebook contains gossip about any being that breathes since this world was created. Anyone marked by this troubleso individual faces total exposure within three days; you could say she’s a disaster zone in Fantasy Country—Of course, I’m quite indifferent to it: if you have a sister who can look five hundred years into the past and future and calculate the decibels of the fart released by the president of a certain country at a certain latitude and longitude the next afternoon in the blink of an eye, you would be indifferent to any form of snooping too.
However, being indifferent is one thing, and being incessantly followed and photographed is another.
This ever-persistent Crow Tengu, always on the chase for gossip news, developed a significant curiosity for an outsider who could strut into Fantasy Country without being expelled. Since she had been blatantly following us from the start, snapping photos incessantly, could soone now help knock down that black-winged, cara-snapping nuisance flying around? Co, bring my Patriot!
“Cough cough, let introduce myself first, Chen Jun, theoretically… a human, a human from another world; you only need to know my na because my identity probably doesn’t resonate with you. This is my lover, Sandora Kervy Yurasis, likewise, just knowing our nas will suffice for now.”
After the brief introduction, I pointed to Ling ng, sipping tea beside , “You can get more detailed information from this person here.”
“Pfft—” The Red and White sprayed the sleeping cat-eared little girl Orange awake with her green tea; as Yakumo Lan was frantically soothing her household’s cat-eared loli, Ling ng started berating furiously, “Hey! Unscrupulous boss! It’s supposed to be a holiday now!”
The words “unscrupulous boss” leaked out, and whispers imdiately spread among the demons. The photographing black-haired girl with the black wings swooped down in front of us all of a sudden, took out a paper and pen as if to say sothing, but retreated back with a glare from Sandora. Then she ran to Boli Lingng and asked solemnly, “The third question now: How did this human deceive you in body and soul?”
I was completely stunned at that mont: Could this be Lilina’s senior apprentice?
Boli Lingng, furious, grabbed the Sacred Coin intending to chase away the gossiping Tengu in front of her: “Don’t do such boring interviews at a ti like this!”
Shi Maru Wen dodged Ling ng’s attack calmly: “The party in question refuses to respond to the journalist due to extre mortification. Now, the seventh question: How is the child?”
Hence, I promptly relegated these two to just background noise.
“In short, the thing above your heads has fallen from our world.”
I pointed at the Atlantis Continent with a calm expression.
After three seconds of silence, the surroundings erupted into chaos.
Even a shaless gossip journalist who was busy questioning Ling ng about various indiscretions stopped working, staring straight at us.
Realizing that I had successfully captured the attention of this unruly crowd, I explained the problem of the other world and how this massive Floating Island ca to be in the simplest terms possible—while many Demons seed quite intelligent, getting them to understand these things required explaining it in simple and straightforward terms.
“Of course, you might not understand these abstract descriptions, so here are so more intuitive things.” I pressed my hand down, trying to calm the rowdy Demons to listen, then commanded the Mother Ship: begin broad projection.
A nearly inaudible sound of Energy flow started around us, weak but heard distinctly by everyone present, settling down the residents of Fantasy Country as they looked around curiously, trying to locate the source of the noise. Then, in an instant, a massive holographic projection enveloped the area: the surrounding mountains and vegetation disappeared, replaced by the dark backdrop of outer space, and a blue planet suspended under the night sky—Earth.
From the birth of Atlantis… Civilizations, prosperity, the arrival of the Empire, a glorious era, disasters, invasions, Doomsday, tens of thousands of years of roaming in outer space, collision, life and death, falling, Fantasy Country, the history spanning hundreds of thousands of years was condensed into this ten-minute holographic projection. Even those with the weakest comprehension would probably get a vague idea of what had happened.
This projection was previously rushed by Bubbles; we tried to present the history of Atlantis in the simplest and most straightforward way to the Demons encountering these things for the first ti, aiming to minimize the ti wasted in communicating. Looking at it now, the child’s mother truly excelled from her experiences in the 2D World—the video editing level was superb, the scene of Atlantis falling was fild like a satellite descending for combat…
The holographic projection dissolved from the air like flowing water, but the crowd of onlooking Demons still maintained their silence as if watching a “movie.” I had to cough loudly to catch their attention: “Cough, cough, in a nutshell, that’s what happened… but where did so many people go?”
Looking at the thin crowd in front of , I said in great confusion.
Shi Maru Wen raised her hand: “When the Outer Heaven Island scene fell, so people unconsciously stepped back—they all fell off the mountain.”
: “…”
It seems that outdoor movies should not be too realistic unless you rember to tie the audience to their chairs.
“Overall, that’s the situation. The matter of Atlantis’s civilization ends here; now we must first figure out how to send this Floating Island back to a high orbit. Our army will take care of the Mutant Monsters on it, but there’s a problem: you need to cooperate.”
I believed I had made the situation clear, then pointed up at the continent above: Under the flickering light ford by the Demons’ Spells, the dark underside of the continent appeared like a dense swamp hanging upside down from the sky, creating a profound sense of oppression.
“Our Mother Ship will create an anti-gravity field from outer space, then ‘suck’ the entire Atlantis up to a high orbit, but your power has already been fused into its Shield System by Atlantis’s energy pipelines—well, to be honest, Atlantis’s own power reactor already shut down two days ago; its Shield is maintained by the combined effort of thousands of Demons here. The old relic Shield’s pan-energy conversion core is damaged, causing a blank period when switching energy Attributes, which ans we can’t safely replace the currently supporting erratic energy of the Demons maintaining the Floating Island with another energy source. When Atlantis ascends halfway, it will lose its Shield due to being too far from these energy sources, and at the sa ti, the city’s Abyss suppression facilities will also shut down—then with the entire Floating Island disintegrating, the Abyss Energy inside will burst forth, and this world will be finished.”
“Foreseeing Boli Lingng’s testimony and following the holographic projection catastrophe demonstration, now complented with a solemn explanation by the Imperial Leader, and coupled with that Floating Island looming over us for days, no one doubted the severity of our predicant.”
“However… disorganization and indiscipline have always characterized Fantasy Country, with its array of clannish demons, clearly lacking any unified command. How could any attempt to take comprehensive command of these entities ever succeed?”
“Looking at the group whispering furtively in front of and those unlucky souls climbing up the mountain behind them, I felt an imnse pressure.”
“But the unrest among the demons did not last long; as a slightly chilling breath approached, all the demons simultaneously quieted down, and a soft, refined voice spoke from behind us, ‘Although I haven’t fully understood, I reckon the gist of it. It seems that destroying Fantasy Country was not your intention, and now’s not the ti to assign bla.'”
“I turned around and saw two young girls who had appeared behind us at so point.”
“The one walking in front led with her pink mid-length hair, her skin carrying an unusual pallor yet not appearing frail, dressed in a tastefully elegant, light purple dress, enhancing a figure that would make common girls feel insecure. Her fluffed soft hat reminded of Yukari Yakumo’s favorite hat, notably adorned with a winged logo…”
“Cough, cough, my mistake!”
“This pink-haired young lady seed to naturally exude a noble and elegant deanor, standing in the chaotic mountain path as if she were a princess in a magnificent courtyard. Behind her stood a petite girl with short hair, who wore a white, neck-length bob, a green dress, and a playful black hairpiece, giving her the appearance typical of the Loli group. Yet, the long and short blades strapped to her waist and the marshmallow-soft ‘Spiritual Body’ floating behind her betrayed her extraordinary status.”
“Unlike the poised first girl, the white-haired one in a green dress seed sowhat immature, her face stern as she tried to project an air of diligence, remarkably akin to a child stubbornly flaunting maturity—why am I thinking of rcury Lamp?”
“Wow! You’ve shown up too!”
“Moriya exclaid upon seeing the two girls, seemingly surprised as they had not shown themselves since the trouble began in Fantasy Country. anwhile, Ling ng casually set down her teacup, ‘Ah, Youyouzi is here, along with Yao ng. So even the White Jade Tower feels the danger now?'”
“The Dead Soul Princess, Xixingsi Youyouzi, that was the elegant girl’s na, setting aside her assorted issues, her presence seed quite refined. Facing Ling ng’s mumbling, she rely glanced over indifferently, ‘Though it seems this island won’t hit my place, I felt uneasy from the start. Turns out this was why. Outsiders, I feel I should trust you, but what shall we do? People here aren’t used to being commanded.'”
“Ah Jun, I don’t know why, but I suddenly feel there’s sothing special about this girl.”
“Sandora tugged at my sleeve and whispered seriously.”
“Suddenly, chills swept from every direction, and I foresaw a very serious matter: What was Fantasy Country’s food production this year? Did this place have what’s called a ten-year disaster reserve?”
“‘Whether to command or not, isn’t it quite clear,’ Ling ng clapped her hands and stood up, ‘We have no way to resolve this crisis indeed, and although this human may seem like this, he’s an important great figure, just too good-natured perhaps.'”
“If he wants to, there’s no point in bargaining at all.”
Suddenly, a black crack appeared in the air next to Ling ng, and Yukari Yakumo jumped out of it. God knows how long she had been eavesdropping in so corner, and the statent she made was exactly what she added as she erged.
“Yukari?!” As soon as she saw Yukari Yakumo, Youyouzi couldn’t maintain her usual calm and elegant deanor anymore. With a tone of surprise, she exclaid, “Where have you been these past few days?”
“With this human, to be exact, I’ve been working for him.”
Suddenly, you could hear a pin drop around them.
I quickly waved my hand to get Youyouzi to back off, “Ahem, we can discuss this issue later when you have ti to catch up with Ling ng. Now that Yukari is here as well, with everyone’s cooperation, there shouldn’t be any problems, right?”
Due to their lack of discipline, the demons of Fantasy Country were a group of unruly tough-to-manage fellows, as evident from the crowd that had gathered around us since our arrival. But if there was anyone here who truly held authority, it was Yukari Yakumo, the chief CEO and founder of Fantasy Country and a Great Sage amongst the demons. She undeniably held persuasive power among the disorderly crowd here. Although she couldn’t issue absolute commands, her words were not often opposed. Even though Mother Zi had beco a slacker, notorious for being tardy, skiving off, cutting in at the food lines, and managing employee cards while chewing on a pen to rip up tickets for the law-violating employees during her half a month in Shadow City, the folks of Fantasy Country hadn’t yet realized this.
“My plan is actually quite simple: you guys will co up too.”
I pointed at the ceiling and chuckled.
Due to various coincidences, now thousands of individuals from various races gathered on Demon Mountain had beco the batteries for Atlantis. They maintained the last energy supply for this ancient migrant ship. Once Atlantis ascended, this energy supply would be cut off. By then, the purification devices on the Floating Island would shut down and perhaps our ground forces could eliminate the Pollution Source before Atlantis disintegrated. However, uncontainable Abyss Energy would be released, contaminating all of Fantasy Country. Since Atlantis’s pan-energy conversion equipnt was damaged, we couldn’t seamlessly switch the chaotic energy charging of the demons using the Ghost Energy Channels from the Mother Ship. The simplest and safest way to ensure Atlantis safely enters higher orbit is to take these “batteries” along.
Of course, I wouldn’t explain these complex matters too much to the demons. Given their confused looks after my speech, it was clear to assu the level of higher physics knowledge available in Fantasy Country. Besides the Tengu and Kappas, perhaps no one here even understood high school physics, let alone the daunting theory of Ghost Energy-pan energy conversion that even boggled scientists from Protos.
“There’s probably no one here who can project their power above the stratosphere, right?” I paused briefly, whispering to Yukari Yakumo for confirmation.
“What’s the stratosphere? Is it higher than Heaven?”
“It seems not,” I coughed softly, raising my voice, “Well then, the people here can now go inform their fellows: when Atlantis ascends, everyone moves together. Apart from ascending, you don’t need to worry about anything. Just continue exerting your power as you do now, hold out as long as you can. Our equipnt will provide you with enough oxygen and radiation protection. But since we can’t switch personnel during the ascent, those with weaker physical strength might not keep up, and floating in outer space is not so fun. In the end, Atlantis will enter high orbit—don’t worry about what high orbit ans; just understand that it’s a very high place. Our Mother Ship is ready and waiting there. The demons following Atlantis will evacuate simultaneously. Rember, be quick and orderly. The old relic’s Energy Pool can only store energy for a few minutes, so you all have to evacuate to the safe zone within three minutes following the instructions. The Mother Ship’s stand barriers will protect you from the Abyss harm. Lastly, just wait with Boli Lingng for your housing compensation afterwards. Any questions?”
“Ah, got it,” Moriya was the first to nod, “Although it’s weird having soone unfamiliar suddenly directing us, since you’re a friend of Ling ng and the Big Demon, and we have no choice, I’ll listen to you, DAZE!”
Despite the unwilling tone, the expression on the face of the little blonde witch clearly showed her eagerness for this novel experience…
