Chapter 625: Chapter 625: Screw Over, Screw Over to Death
“The defense barrier has temporarily entered a dormant state; we will continue to suppress its tendency to restart here. The situation ahead is unclear, so please be very careful.” In front of the now ash-white defense barrier, Raven 001 warned us. Behind her, there was an exceedingly complex arcane array. Hundreds of Ravens stood on the array forming magic power nodes, using this thod to simulate the magic power of an Emperor-level Raven. In the distance, one could vaguely make out three arcane arrays of similar scale, seeming to form a square together with the one behind Raven 001.
“We’ll be careful. How long can you guys maintain this thing?”
I didn’t know how powerful Silvia had beco after her awakening, but the fact that it took thousands of Ravens just to simulate a spell for opening doors was staggeringly disproportionate. I was concerned that they would overstrain their magical powers. For Ravens, whose bodies were composed of over eighty percent mystic energy, overstraining their magic power was tantamount to overstraining their souls. With just one command from , they would probably continue to persevere until they were reduced to ashes and smoke.
“Don’t worry about us,” Raven 001 understood what I ant and flashed a slightly shy smile. “The four arrays can rest in rotation. We can hold on for two or three days without a problem.”
Assured by her response, I turned and called to everyone—especially Taville.
This was because a certain Research Girl was now practically lying on top of the extinguished defense barrier, completely engulfed in a scientific frenzy, even forgoing her usual tranquil deanor and exclaiming excitedly, “This… this is simply incredible! How exactly is it composed? This structure lacks any foundational elents, yet it manifests in the macroscopic world and, after ceasing operation, it transforms into this marvelous pure energy state, nearly perfectly balanced! Could it be Ghost Energy? No, pure Ghost Energy couldn’t form such a stable state, and the materials transford from Ghost Energy would have a secondary structure…”
After so hesitation, I pulled out a roll of rope and quickly tied up Taville—her dignified lady image was utterly ruined today.
“Uh, wait… wait, Your Majesty, I’m about to make a discovery! The device isn’t complex yet so fascinating,” Taville struggled as she was hoisted onto the shoulders of Pandora and Visca, one at each end. “Perhaps I can reverse engineer its production thod… uh, Your Majesty, these ropes are really uncomfortable…”
“Quiet down, you image-ruining mischief,” I snapped, turning my head furiously, “either you stay there and research or behave and listen, going inside there’s stuff for you to study! Why is it that whenever it involves research, you just…”
I was mid-sentence when I paused, stunned, then suddenly turned back to whisper to Sandora, “I didn’t notice when we first caught her that her figure was this good, did I?”
…Who am I even consulting here!
Amid what could almost be described as the characteristic pre-action chaos of the Imperial High Level, we crossed that indescribable defense barrier. Contrary to expectation, it didn’t feel rough but rather seed like an illusion, effortlessly passed through by us, leaving behind nothing but a patch of gray-white haze in the direction we ca from when we looked back.
“That is a two-dinsional plane, with no thickness or strength,” Taville, still carried on the shoulders of the Twin Generals, seamlessly entered her analytical mode, though she unfortunately couldn’t adjust her glasses, “The only thod for an indestructible structure to defend against attacks is the Cosmic Law. Apart from that unreasonable law, the device itself is rely a visible yet intangible energy film—Your Majesty, can you let down now? Even for , this is quite embarrassing…”
Where did your sense of propriety go when you were nearly sprawled on that defense barrier just to study it!
Having a beautiful girl tied up and carried over just didn’t seem proper. Deeply commanding Taville to prioritize her research second in the upcoming actions, I had the Twin Generals set her free. As soon as she was liberated, Taville ticulously straightened her attire, adjusted her glasses, stabilized her expression, and instantaneously entered the perfect, composed, and reliable Research Girl state.
The temperant of a sophisticated beauty suddenly shone brilliantly; those unaware of the facts might mistake her for a twenty-year-old dual-doctorate recipient and graduate advisor who had dropped out of the sky. The once-serious and quiet female scientist had finally resurrected. It seed that her recent mad-scientist deanor was just an occasional quirk. I wondered if she was always like this when leading a team of Xyrin Technicians to tackle technical challenges. This experience certainly revealed another side of Taville—a side whose brazen personality left one in awe and brought the unfortunate news: starting today, one of the few normal people within the Empire’s power hierarchy would be stripped of their title… This was truly sad, but I was used to it.
The core zone was filled with a weird, grayish-white smoke, yet like the native soup of outer space, it did not affect visibility. With enhanced vision, I could see a blurry dark spot in the distance, our intended destination. Silvia must have learned the secret of this core area during that evening’s summons, which gave her the courage to drive into it with the shuttle. But we were unaware, and to avoid accidentally waking any potential guardians in the ruins by using the shuttle—which was noisy by the standards of this high-security area’s sensitive alarm systems—we opted to activate the Invisibility Field, enveloping everyone. However, even after advancing for about fifteen minutes, all that surrounded us was the endless nebula, and the anticipated guardians seed nonexistent.
Taville always had several complex projection screens floating around her, displaying formulas that no one else could understand. She was analyzing the composition of these nebulae, but it seed there were no aningful results, aside from the inexplicable un-attenuated transmission phenonon. They were nothing more than the most common space gases and dust particles, unlike the outer space soup. Here, sound could travel, and these dust particles possessed normal physical properties: they were rich in heavy tals and radioactive elents, capable of killing a robust human within seconds. However, for us, it was just a slightly choking taste, which made activate my Shield specifically to block out the sll. anwhile, Sandora gave a little hmph after tasting it and complained to , “Ugh, Ah Jun, it’s a bit gritty…”
I was shocked at that mont; this girl actually tried to taste new things by eating them first? Now I understood why, when she first moved into my house, she was not hungry but still bit a fist-sized hole in the kitchen cupboard—perhaps that was also her way of familiarizing herself with the environnt.
“Your Majesty, there doesn’t seem to be anything noteworthy here,” Taville closed one of the screens in front of her and shook her head at us, “The material composition has nothing unusual, and the surrounding energy distribution is quite balanced. Let’s head directly towards the central area.”
At that mont, Qianqian, who always had a habit of looking around curiously and had particularly sharp eyes, suddenly grabbed my sleeve and started shouting, pointing to sothing in the distance, “Ah Jun! Ah Jun! Look over there! There’s sothing!”
Using energy recoil and our individual driving skills, we quickly reached the location Qianqian pointed to—a powerless shuttle was floating in the mist, spinning, with the Imperial Army’s insignia on its hull.
“Silvia’s trace,” Pandora recognized it at a glance and said succinctly.
“Why would Silvia leave the shuttle here?” Sandora caressed the smooth armor plate of the streamlined flying device, her gaze suddenly focusing on a crack near its hatch—the shuttle’s door was open, and at its connection to the main body of the craft, there was a tear that had clearly been forcibly made.
“The shuttle’s core is damaged, and the control terminal shows signs of overload,” Visca imdiately dove into the shuttle, “The weapon system hasn’t been activated, but the navigation system is completely wrecked.”
“Attacked, there’s an enemy!” Pandora said without hesitation, pulling out her war cannon and starting to guard the surroundings, but after inspecting the otherwise undamaged outer shell of the shuttle, I dismissed Pandora’s assumption, “Don’t panic. This only shows that Silvia can even break sothing as simple as auto-pilot. This shuttle is ruined from the inside out.”
Everyone was montarily speechless, wondering exactly how Silvia managed to ss up a high-intelligence shuttle that could accurately take you to any corner of the universe with just a spoken command—and she even forgot how to open the door! At least give a baseline for idiocy, damn it!
“Okay, at least this proves that the person who entered here is still the sa old dopey Silvia we know,” said Sandora, covering her head with a long sigh, “Ah Jun, your self-consolation thod is truly remarkable.”
We found no valuable clues on the shuttle Silvia left behind, but at least it proved she had safely entered this place. She navigated thousands of miles through a firefight, deep into the enemy’s military core within two light years, all by herself in a shuttle defenseless against large warships. And she never once encountered a firefight—the post-awakening Silvia was simply too terrifying.
“It seems her mystical skills have fully recovered, even to the point where she can twist her own view of the world within a certain range to conceal her traces,” Sandora casually obliterated the now non-ignitable shuttle and took the lead, flying ahead, “The shuttle’s engine cycle ducts still had residual Ghost Energy. Luckily, Silvia’s driving skills are terrible, so she hasn’t been gone from here too long!”
We followed closely behind. Although we didn’t use space jumps, this distance, visible to the naked eye, was just monts away for us. Within a few minutes, the silhouette hidden in the mist gradually beca clear in our field of view.
That was a gigantic tallic structure, cylindrical in shape, that appeared to be the main body of so sort of warship, though it only resembled one in shape. Its long axis was roughly estimated to be four to five hundred kiloters, with a radius likely between eighty to ninety kiloters. Even among the colossal Imperial Battleships, this was considered a behemoth. The surface of the tal structure showcased a weathered dark gray color, unlike the ticulously imposing and luxurious designs of the Imperial Battleships; it had no decorations or emblems, only nurous unidentifiable line-like protrusions that made it seem as if it was covered in printed circuits, apart from which, there were no structures resembling weapon turrets or communication antennas, indicating that the target was not ant for battle and might even lack basic offensive and defensive capabilities—could it actually not be a military unit?
What was noteworthy was that this tallic structure seed incomplete, as if it had been forcibly torn from a larger apparatus. Both ends were filled with rough, massive breaks, with countless tal branches and floating pipelines extending from inside, reminiscent of severed limbs exposing blood vessels and muscles; it was sowhat disgusting but evidently true.
However, as we approached one of the breaches, to our surprise, we found that it was not destroyed by force; the surfaces of the extended pipelines and connectors showed no signs of fractures, but were unusually neat, as if deliberately designed that way. Hovering several kiloters above this massive wreckage, we turned our gaze to Taville in search of answers.
The only expert and scholar on the scene, it’s all on you now.
Unlike combat-focused Angels whose personal spaces were cramd with ammunition, Taville always filled her personal space with research modules and scanning probes, maintaining at least two standard laboratories’ worth of equipnt even if it was just for mass projection. She had already deployed nurous probes on the terminals of the pipelines extending from the giant wreckage, and was now analyzing the massive amount of data being retrieved—an unexpectedly large volu of data, to the extent that even Pandora had to switch into her blue-haired, blue-eyed calculation mode to help with processing. Honestly, Pandora rarely shifted into this Ice Fairy-like state in a whole year; her brain’s design truly had eighty percent of its potential wasted…
“Analysis complete,” finally, Taville reopened her eyes, “This giant structure is rely a component, sothing for calculation and storage. The enduring pipelines and connecting ports are used for executing read and write commands and for connecting to another larger facility. We initially mistook it for the remnants of a warship, which led us into a misunderstanding. Now it appears, it is simply a standard processing core. I’ve extracted so bizarre records from those connectors, indicating that the device is still operational but in a standby mode—in theory, at least.”
A 400 to 500-kiloter-long object that’s essentially just an unenclosed CPU? I was once again terrified by the ruthless lack of morals of the ancient Xyrin Apostles. But considering the Celestial System Fleet docked outside, well, morals and limits had probably been thrown out when the world was created, hadn’t they?
“While I’m not sure how Silvia entered, I did scan an entry point over there—in theory, at least.”
Taville pointed to a small spot below us, “The main access pathways of this thing are completely locked, but there’s a maintenance passageway in the outer area over there. It’s also locked, but not very solidly; it should be forcible. Even if the outer area is damaged, it won’t affect the integrity of the wreckage inside.”
Following Taville’s guidance, we indeed found an entrance at the bottom of the giant wreckage; it was a section of silver-white alloy wall distinctly different from its surroundings, inscribed with symbols I didn’t recognize. And at the center of the wall, was a thick alloy hatch spanning several dozen ters, which was the maintenance entrance Taville had ntioned.
Central to the entrance was a hexagonal crystal panel; Sandora stepped up and knocked a few tis, but the damn thing didn’t budge an inch.
“The door chanics are offline; we can only hack it by force,” Sandora signaled to the Pandora Sisters, “Just open fire, the durability of this thing is unheard of, it’s even harder than the armor plates of the Imperial Admiral.”
Hearing this, the always expressionless Pandora imdiately lit up with those gray, foggy eyes almost sparkling joyously. Beside her, Visca simply went all out, scattering ship cannons, bombs, and Floating Cannons all over the place, happily diving in to create havoc—those two little madn were truly set free.
Despite what Sandora had said about the breathtakingly sturdy materials of the giant wreckage’s gates, that even Pandora and Visca were free to open fire, I was seriously concerned that these two might just demolish the entire relic outright, considering the several hundred square ters of arms they were indiscriminately throwing at the target!
“Pandora 1000mm Ship-to-ship Ghost Energy Cannon!”
“Visca 1000mm Abyss Cannon!”
When sisters unite, their power can cut through tal. The little sisters, already hot-tempered from the nitroglycerin accelerating to their foreheads, each shouldered a pillar and almost simultaneously launched their attack. A pair of dazzling beams, one blue and one red, burst forth and directly hit the perfectly aligned ancient relic door. Instantly, a trendous fireball erupted, accompanied by a thunderous explosion sound, but shockingly, after the explosion subsided, what remained before us was the completely intact relic door. Other than being scorched black, it had withstood the fierce frontal assault of the two most violent Little Lolies?
“Boom!” Pandora and Visca imdiately launched a second attack, still in perfect sync as they opened fire. This ti, they increased the firepower of the cannons, but despite the explosion, the door remained completely undamaged.
“Regular cannons aren’t working,” Sandora frowned. “This must be a special alloy designed to resist Ghost Energy attacks. What is this relic for? Just the cost of producing these armor plates could probably arm an entire army group!”
Failing twice in their attacks felt like losing face in front of Brother, and both Pandora and Visca looked visibly frustrated. I was just about to go over to comfort them when I saw the little girls retract all their weapons and then each took a step back. Following that, they both sharply leaned back, mimicking the motion of taking a deep breath.
Deep breath… no, Helium Flash! They were getting serious this ti!
As I watched the Little Lolies’ faces turn red with the effort of gathering energy, the atmosphere around them changed dramatically, and a huge amount of energy converged towards them. Simultaneously, a line of text appeared before everyone: The Twin Generals took a deep breath.
“Cough, cough… cough, cough…”
Annoyingly, the Twin Generals choked.
“Wuwuwu, Brother, I used too much Helium Flash fighting the rebels earlier, and now I can’t do it anymore, wuwu…” Visca ran into my arms, crying pitifully, while Pandora desperately tried to pull her twin sister, who had reached first, off and put herself in Brother’s arms. Speaking of their Brother…
Who can lend a shoulder now so I can find a place to cry? Damn it, what kind of godly twist is this? Can you not ss with for just one day?
While we were in disarray, Qianqian suddenly started shouting not far from us: “Ah Jun, Ah Jun! Co and see this!”
Hurriedly pulling the two squabbling little girls, we ran over to find Qianqian standing at the edge of the silvery alloy wall. When she saw us approaching, she bragged and kicked the wall forcefully.
“Clang,” a large tal plate fell off in response.
“Ah Jun, Ah Jun, this thing is only solid at the main gate!”
Us: “…”
Who the hell designed this crappy thing!! (
