"This data terminal," Sandora raised the hexagonal, shiny thin board in her hand. This ancient device, at least tens of thousands of years old, looked as good as new after being wiped clean, reflecting a radiant glow as Sandora waved it, "There are special markings on it, absolutely authorized, if I’m not mistaken, it was used by your sister back then."
I was stunned like that for a while, then suddenly rembered that Big Sister was once the Fifteen-day Zone Emperor back in the day...
Ok, I almost forgot this. The main reason is that Big Sister usually either does housework or watches over the children at ho. She is practically clueless when it cos to politics and military affairs, and she’s even more hands-off than I am in the relevant departnts. Within a few days, I had forgotten she used to be such a renowned figure. I took the small device identified as a data terminal, trying to activate it as one would with a regular data terminal. This thing was unlike the usual model I was familiar with, and perhaps the magic-powered type has a unique structure. I fiddled with it for a while, and the only accomplishnt was that it beca so shiny after being polished that it could reflect my image.
"...Uh, Sis, how does this thing work?" I turned to Big Sister for help. She took the terminal, fiddled with it, and polished the back until it could reflect images, then said, frowning, "Uh, it seems different from the usual model."
"Wasn’t this used by you back then?" Qianqian leaned over to ask, while combing her hair in front of the shiny exterior of the data terminal as if using it as a mirror.
"The problem is, I forgot," Big Sister stuck out her tongue, "I only know vaguely and just a little bit from back then, and that was ’viewed’ with Lin Xue’s help. I have absolutely no recollection of this thing."
"Let see, maybe so minor issues due to the long ti, technically, it should be smartly initiated," Sandora observed us fiddling with it cluelessly for a while, couldn’t help but co over, then fiddled with the palm-sized device, yet it remained unmoving, "Uh, looks like so intense asures might be needed."
Just after saying this, she tilted the data terminal at a forty-five-degree angle and landed it on the nearby table... and then it lit up.
: "...This actually worked?!" Certainly, the ’forty-five-degree angle strike’ godly ho appliance repair skill is also a Void universal skill!
"Well, coincidentally, perhaps the external sensors were a bit faulty, a strong stimulus made it repair itself," Sandora chuckled awkwardly, "Now we don’t need to bother those data recovery experts. Let see what your sister stored here back then..."
"Cough cough, it’s what the Fifteen-day Zone Emperor stored back then," Big Sister couldn’t help but mumble from the side, "That’s a previous life thing, it doesn’t have much to do with now."
"Don’t mind the details," I said casually, and along with the others, leaned in closer to Sandora. A large group gathered around her, watching her operate that ancient little device, the flas of gossip were burning vigorously, almost scorching the sky, everyone’s mind now was taken over by curiosity, the kind of information in this little thing was so alluring to us. Qianqian even creatively suggested, "Hey, do you think this has those kinds of photos of Sister Chen Qian from back then?"
"Do you think everyone is as mindless as you?" I swung a slap to the back of her head, then swiftly kicked Yelsen out of the circle, "Hmm, just in case, irrelevant personnel should step away."
"Alright, alright, I’ll step away myself," Uncle Kenser raised his hand before I could act, then wobbled aside to draw circles in the corner with 123.
Bingdisi turned her head to look around and then smugly remarked, "You guys really can play anyti, how could a dignified, serious, well-educated Goddess ever associate with you... Oh, the image is coming out."
The data terminal still seed to have so issues, initially producing a holographic image that shook vigorously and had accompanying noise, but it soon stabilized. The image was of a spirited young woman wearing a stylish yet elegant female windbreaker, with long, black, smooth hair flowing in the wind, holding a Commander’s Sword, standing high at the bow of the ship as if overlooking a battlefield. The sound of a long "Oh—" ca from around, Miss Lin couldn’t help but look at Big Sister, "Using her own full-body image as a startup screen... So Sister Chen Qian had this hobby back then?"
Big Sister’s face turned red with embarrassnt, and her usually modest and simple character made her now obviously feel this was sowhat akin to an embarrassing play, hurriedly waving her hands, "This... this was from back then, I can’t rember."
"Stop fooling around, there might be important data here," Sandora motioned for us to quiet down while searching the data terminal’s database, "Hmm, let’s see... There are indeed multiple levels of authorization, without access, you’d only see your sister’s military portrait looping here. Ah Jun, try pressing your hand on this, see if your identification code works."
Although feeling it might be a bit nonsensical, I still followed Sandora’s instructions and placed my hand on the data terminal, and unexpectedly at that mont, it produced a light beep: "Authorization recognized, database opened. Welco back, Your Majesty."
"Look, the identification technology of this thing with regard to Void Creature-level fake IDs is just like trash." Bingdisi sharply pointed out, and I imdiately broke out in cold sweat: was she indicating that the New Empire’s fake ID originator is actually the current Emperor?
I suddenly felt my worldview over the past four years crumbling, afraid I would no longer be able to look at Sicaro directly...
"You two quit fooling around, I found the root directory," Sandora fiddled with the data terminal with one hand while using her free hand to give both and Bingdisi a swipe on the head: she recently learned this trick too, probably because of the naughty kid at ho, "Uh, your sister’s past life’s use of the terminal really wasn’t good... Everything just dumped directly in the root directory..."
Big Sister imdiately turned her head, "Don’t look at , I know nothing."
"Usually there aren’t confidential records stored in this type of terminal, but sotis an Emperor’s life journal is more valuable than confidential records, look here, records show that approximately a thousand years before the disaster, the Fifteen-day Zone organized a large-scale battle against the Abyss, at the ti there were massive numbers of Servant Army troops involved, the leaders were lowa people... less than a fifth of the Servant Army fleet survived the battle... Tsk, it seems to be a major battle. I should have heard of this conflict; it was a joint battle by the Fifteen-day Zone and the 86th Day Zone, but I didn’t participate back then. I was busy handling the border disputes."
"You’re constantly dragged out to fight wars that can lead to genocide if things go wrong, lowa people should’ve rebelled sooner." Bingdisi pointed out sharply again, Sandora couldn’t stand it anymore and slamd a fist on this female hooligan’s shoulder, "If you stop talking, no one will assu you’re mute. The Imperial Fleet’s losses aren’t small either."
Sandora quickly browsed through the disorganized information in the data terminal. As she said, Big Sister’s past life habit of using electronic devices was not very good, likely because of her association with the Mysterious Side (Cursers are a special advanced unit of the Mysterious Side). mbers of the Mysterious Side, even when using their own devices, seem a bit disorganized, so sifting valuable information from these records is not easy. Finally, Sandora simply connected the data terminal to her thinking module to start reading the database directly: this would be more efficient.
I glanced at Big Sister: "Sister, you seem to have the sa problem in this life too. Look at the data terminal you’re using now—I can’t even find a song..."
Miss Lin looked at us with horror: "... You use such high-tech stuff as an MP3 player?"
"Better than her," I pointed at Qianqian, who was beside us with a silly smile, "She played Super Mario for two hours on the mainfra of the Imperial Admiral and nearly drove it crazy. Later, the starship sailed out jumping..."
Miss Lin started to look at Qianqian and as if we were monsters: "...When I first got the data terminal, I treated it like a treasure, wiping it three tis a day... You rich upstart..."
A personal data terminal certainly wouldn’t store any military secrets or scientific research archives. What this small device contains are mostly mundane matters casually noted down by Big Sister back in the day, as well as not-so-highly-confidential daily reports. These reports might have been significant once, dominating the life and death of countless species across multiple worlds. Yet ti has erased everything, and now they hold no value, like stories known by no one. The nas they ntion have long since faded into the dust. Sandora looked at these reports waiting for review and could only let out a soft sigh.
"So, there was so much unfinished work back then..." Big Sister lowered her head slightly and said softly. I couldn’t help but squeeze her hand, to which she gave a carefree smile: "It’s nothing, just feeling a bit sentintal."
"Looks like there isn’t much valuable intelligence... but it could serve as research history material or sothing like that..." Sandora said with so disappointnt while setting down the data terminal. Just as she was about to turn it off, she suddenly frowned, "Hmm? What’s this?"
She found a file pending deletion casually cast aside. After quickly restoring this docunt, she projected it onto the holographic display. What appeared before us was a very peculiar device, seemingly like an abstract sculpture composed of a hemisphere and a large number of concentric circles, its surface covered with flickering lights and incomprehensible spikes. The device floated in darkness, possibly in outer space or in the common Other Space assembly field used by the Empire. Judging by the small working platforms and personnel surrounding this "abstract sculpture" and their size scale, this thing should be several hundred ters high. In my impression, I had never seen such a facility... Well, it can be confird that the New Empire has not made anything like this. Of course, my knowledge might be insufficient, but looking at Sandora’s expression, she too seed puzzled by this thing. After enlarging it several tis, the details of this device were fully shown before us, and Sandora, based on her common knowledge, inferred, "This seems to be so sort of communication device. I see structures like multiple amplifiers, but the architecture is not quite... Hmm, I found sothing, a log docunt generated at the sa ti as this image."
Sandora found a log that could possibly correspond to the image; the following is an excerpt from this docunt:
"(Ti Error) The last batch of envoys from the Divine Race reportedly returned without success, and the Empire adopted a one-sided blockade and repulsive attitude towards them, unprecedented and incomprehensible. Perhaps the Star Domain will no longer send envoys, as the end of their expedition cycle is also approaching... (Data corruption) So far, the warnings from the Fifteenth Day Zone have been ignored, they (this should refer to other emperors) stubbornly adhere to the conclusions derived from the Empire’s ultimate calculation system, believing that the stability of the entire plan is still above the threshold... Reiji’s premonition grows stronger and can no longer be ignored... (Data corruption) Conducted another deep dive, bringing back supposedly valuable samples this ti, nad EN-166 and uploaded to the public database. Due to the ergence of EN-166, the proactive behavior of the Other Shore Civilization had a predictable impact on the entire X Plan; now a large amount of research focus shifted from Void distortion to deep dive-related subjects. They remain optimistic, believing this is the dawn of ending everything. I can’t understand why the most intelligent beings in the Void would fall into such a frenzy, firmly convinced the end of the Abyss is near, when the Divine Race with countless eons of conquest couldn’t end this war, could our civilization’s journey surpass Father God’s experience? But the bridging work does need to continue, whether to end the Abyss or to establish a joint restraint chanism, or to maintain an advantage in an unpredictable future; it is necessary to establish stable contact with the other side, and preferably get ahead in progress. The communication array research of the extre depths undertaken by the Fifteenth Day Zone has made significant progress; the previous idea of forcibly using orderly signals to break through Abyss interference indeed had issues; Sivis organized a shallow layer sampling and discovered that disorder signal coding can also be interpreted, implying that ’disorder’ itself is considered an information elent... (Data Error) The prototype has been completed, about only one-third of the expected power, yet it has already exceeded existing deep diving equipnt by far. Ocam claims he will directly install the prototype on a deep-diving ship for the next deep dive, hoping the current power will be enough to break through the critical point to dialogue with the other side... His excessive optimism and recklessness make people uneasy, just like the emperor he is loyal to. Next, wait for Ocam’s deep-diving ship to co and take this prototype away, further developnt work can be left to Sivis and Orelia, while I focus my efforts on Reiji’s vague foreboding... (Data Error) There may still be much the Fifteenth Day Zone can do for the Empire... (Data Error, unreadable beyond this point)."
A massive amount of information, yes, a considerable flood.
"Fifteenth Day Zone was also involved in part of the deep dive plan’s R&D..." Sandora muttered, "It’s not surprising though, since the Fifteenth Day Zone only opposed the X Plan’s Void project, not explicitly opposed to the deep dive plan itself."
I organized the information revealed by this docunt and looked at Big Sister: "Back then, the Fifteenth Day Zone built a prototype, a communication array used on a deep-diving ship, sothing that could possibly break the critical point and connect with that Other Shore Civilization!?"
Big Sister slowly glanced at sideways: "Ah Jun, how many tis have I told you, don’t look at , I know nothing."
"No one knew about the existence of this prototype before!" Sandora suddenly brought up a situation that we hadn’t noticed, "The prototype’s developnt involved Sivis and a bunch of scientists from the Old Fifteenth Day Zone; now that the concept discontinuity has been resolved, theoretically all related materials should have been unlocked! But Sivis didn’t report anything about the prototype... and nothing concerning this device appears in the database either." Sandora said as she shook the data terminal in her hand: "Except for this bit of record in this device. This isn’t normal, the New Empire has resud the deep dive plan, and all old records related should have been screened out, but this communication array was simply overlooked."
"Could be a residual effect of concept discontinuity," I tried to organize the little information I knew about concept discontinuity, "You know, even after resolving the concept discontinuity, so information loss still occurs, caused by the ti lapse of tens of thousands of years, with the Void erasing so information."
"Hmm, that can be an explanation, but I feel there must be a direct reason this communication array was overlooked," Sandora frowned, "This is too important... it’s crucial equipnt on a deep-diving ship! It was actually completed in the Fifteenth Day Zone! I had never thought the Fifteenth Day Zone was involved in all this... Wait, then where is this prototype now?"
"Wasn’t it taken away by Ocam?" Qianqian chid in, "It’s written in the log."
"No, the prototype ship of the deep-diving ship fell into our hands back then. It’s been thoroughly scanned, and I can confidently say that there wasn’t anything like this on board. The prototype wasn’t taken away," Sandora handed the data terminal to Big Sister while she began to pace on the spot, "Back then, Ocam didn’t have ti to take this equipnt... It should have been a high-priority task for him, but sothing held him up, the deep-diving ship..."
As Sandora spoke, our eyes involuntarily fell on Visca. I covered my face and tapped on Visca’s head, "This ancient mystery finally figured out... Back then, the deep-diving ship and Ocam’s escorts were sunk by Visca en route to the Fifteenth Day Zone to fetch the equipnt..."
Visca, sotis silly, was not foolish here and imdiately realized it was her doing, muttering with her head down: "Big brother... sorry... I ssed up again back then..."
"No, it might be a good thing," Sandora waved her hand, "Don’t forget, the deep-diving ship had already been destroyed before we obtained this docunt. Fortunately, Ocam was blocked by Visca back then; he didn’t get a chance to take the communication array away, or this precious prototype would surely have been destroyed with the ship before we realized its value. Now, the most urgent thing is..."
I imdiately followed her words: "To find where this thing is!" (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to visit Qidian and vote for recomndations or monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation.)
