Chapter 33: Xiao Yu Finally Strikes—Burning the Enemy!

“I’m fine,” Zhang Fancheng said, summoning the fire-starting rod back into his hand. As his fingers wrapped around the ugly, sinister artefact, a cool energy coursed through his body, instantly rejuvenating his spirit.

“Kill!” Jingang roared.

“Kill!” Zhang Fancheng echoed.

The two had spent an entire night in pursuit, hoping to exterminate the monster terrorising the town. Having finally found a target, they were eager to unleash their full strength.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Jingang and Zhang Fancheng joined forces against Li Xun. Jingang’s wolf-tooth mace struck with earth-shattering force, while the fire-starting rod’s sinister energy proved even more terrifying.

Forged using the Bloodthirst Pearl and Soul-Devouring Staff, two demonic treasures refined through blood rituals, the fire-starting rod radiated an aura of malevolence from the mont it appeared. Li Xun found himself in an increasingly dire predicant as the rod drained his energy and vitality with every strike.

“You fools! I’m no monster! I’m a living, breathing human! Stop attacking !” Li Xun, usually haughty, was forced to plead mid-battle, his tone bereft of its usual arrogance.

“Junior Brother Zhang, this monster is cunning. Don’t believe its lies,” Jingang growled, convinced Li Xun was a demon in disguise. Infusing his mace with golden spiritual energy, he unleashed a relentless flurry of blows, stirring up a storm of dust and debris.

“Understood! I won’t fall for it!” Zhang Fancheng replied, commanding the fire-starting rod to press its assault. The rod’s Bloodthirst Pearl emitted an ominous crimson glow, absorbing Li Xun’s life force and strength with increasing ferocity. Li Xun’s situation grew desperate.

“Damn it!” Li Xun cursed inwardly, furious at being mistaken for a monster by two clueless cultivators. Their refusal to listen to reason was maddening.

“I don’t have ti for this nonsense!”

Forced into a corner, Li Xun activated his Nine Suns Ruler and soared into the night sky, attempting to escape.

“Trying to run? Not so fast.”

Xiao Yu, who had been quietly observing, shot into the air and blocked Li Xun’s retreat. His voice was calm but laced with nace.

“Didn’t you want the Mysterious Fire Mirror? Let grant your wish.”

Suspended in mid-air, Xiao Yu slowly raised an ancient bronze mirror, angling it toward Li Xun. During their earlier clash in the cave, Li Xun had deduced Xiao Yu’s identity as a disciple of Tianyong City. For that reason, Xiao Yu knew Li Xun couldn’t be allowed to live.

“The Mysterious Fire Mirror!”

Li Xun’s initial reaction was one of joy, quickly replaced by alarm as flas ignited within the mirror.

“Farewell!”

Xiao Yu activated the artefact. Blinding light erupted from the mirror’s surface, followed by a searing pillar of fire. Though modest in size, the pillar’s intensity caused the surrounding temperature to spike instantly, with nearby plants wilting and shrivelling.

Even Zhang Fancheng and Jingang felt the heatwave and instinctively retreated a few steps.

Whoosh!

The fiery beam shot toward Li Xun with terrifying speed, traversing space in the blink of an eye. It was so fast that escape was impossible.

“Nooooo!”

Li Xun’s anguished scream echoed as the fire tore through his chest, leaving a smouldering hole. The flas carried divine ferocity, obliterating everything in their path as they exited through his back, continuing far into the night sky.

“What kind of treasure is that?!” Jingang stood rooted in place, eyes wide with shock.

“Senior Brother Xiao truly lives up to his Tianyong City reputation. His artefacts are extraordinary,” Zhang Fancheng murmured, assuming the mirror belonged to Xiao Yu.

“Return!”

Xiao Yu smiled faintly and recalled the Mysterious Fire Mirror. The mirror responded imdiately, extinguishing its flas and reverting to an ordinary bronze appearance before flying back into his hand.

Thud!

Li Xun’s lifeless body plumted to the ground. Though largely intact, the gaping hole in his chest—its edges charred black—bore silent testimony to the mirror’s devastating power.

Ding!

The host has slain Li Xun. Luck plunder successful!

Ding!

Li Xun’s luck: 150!

Hearing the system notification, Xiao Yu chuckled, “Only 150 points? A re side character… even as a prodigy of a major sect, he’s still pitiful compared to the true protagonists.”

His eyes fell on Li Xun’s body, or more specifically, the storage pouch at his waist.

“Hmm? A storage pouch?”
