Vincent Hawthorne held the phone and spoke softly: "I understand. Thank you, Rhys, I owe you a favor."

Rhys Lucas: "There’s no need to say that between us. Tell Mother Hawthorne not to worry, I’ve already spoken to acquaintances in the military. If Yvonne is among the hostages, they’ll arrange for her to be sent back first."

"Alright."

Vincent had just put down the phone when Mother Hawthorne eagerly stepped forward and asked, "How is it? Is there any news of Yvonne?"

Vincent briefly recounted what Rhys had just said.

Mother Hawthorne grabbed him urgently and said, "So it ans if they want Tanya Sinclair, they’ll return my Yvonne?"

Vincent was already annoyed and showed it.

"Return her for what? She likes to run, loves Felix Kendall, might as well stay there!"

"What are you saying? She’s your sister!" Mother Hawthorne glared at him dissatisfied, "It’s all Tanya Sinclair’s fault. She hard you during the divorce! Now you’re divorced, and even knowing Yvonne likes Felix, she still seduces Felix..."

"Mom!" Vincent interrupted, his patience exhausted, "This has nothing to do with Tanya! She has a boyfriend now, Felix doesn’t like Yvonne, how can you bla Tanya? Tanya already has soone she’s seeing!"

Mother Hawthorne was startled.

"What? How long since the divorce, and she already has another man?" Mother Hawthorne responded with ridicule, "I get it, she must have hooked up with so guy outside before you even divorced! No wonder she was desperate to get divorced then!"

Vincent looked at Mother Hawthorne’s an expression, feeling his head ache.

"Mom, Tanya is going to save people. Over three hundred hostages, the other side are ruthless criminals, she might not co back! She’s the mother of my two children, could you show her so kindness?"

Mother Hawthorne was incredulous: "Vincent! Are you now reprimanding your own mom for the sake of Tanya, your ex-wife? Back then, she clung to you shalessly, trying to climb high!"

Vincent didn’t want to talk anymore, grabbed his coat and left.

"I’m going out for so air."

"Hey, keep a close watch on any news about your sister!" Mother Hawthorne reminded loudly, concerned.

Vincent left reluctantly.

Upon leaving ho, he got into the car and drove aimlessly around the city. Unknowingly, he arrived at the entrance of the neighborhood where Tanya had lived with Caden.

Vincent stared at the neighborhood entrance, his chest suddenly felt heavy.

He bought the apartnt below hers, and after she moved out, he bought the one she briefly lived in... even found a girl who resembled her from back then...

It was only after completely losing Tanya that he realized he had loved her all along.

Vincent closed his eyes, leaning against the seat, his mind a ss.

Why did the kidnappers specifically ask for Tanya to go?

As far as he knew, Declan Pierce had beco The Pierce Consortium’s formal leader, he loved Tanya so much, why would he let her take such risks?

Vincent suddenly opened his eyes, the light in his eyes cold.

Seems he guessed right!

Declan was only using Tanya, just like when Vincent married her, letting her help him stabilize his position in the group... Declan was perhaps another version of him!

Is it possible he used Tanya to climb to the position of The Pierce Clan’s leader?

At that mont, the car window was suddenly knocked on.

Vincent turned to look outside, and for a mont, froze seeing the person out the window.

He rolled down the window; Leah Thorne’s young, pretty face was filled with joy: "Mr. Hawthorne, what’s up? Why didn’t you tell in advance? Luckily, I have no classes today."

The emotion in Vincent’s eyes faded considerably, he said: "Just passing by."

Leah wasn’t upset by his indifference, she simply subdued her joy.

"So, do you have any plans for lunch? Want to stay for a al?" She raised her hand with the groceries she just bought from the nearby market, "I’m good at cooking, would you like to try?"

Leah winked at him, her tone was restrained with understanding, but she couldn’t entirely hide the young girl’s expectation in her eyes.

He suddenly rembered Tanya from a long ti ago.

She wasn’t really a pushy girl, not particularly outgoing.

When inviting him to the movies, she’d deliberately say there was a discount for buying two tickets together.

When he pretended to hesitate, Tanya would quickly say it was okay, as she wasn’t particularly keen on seeing that movie... but her eyes couldn’t hide her disappointnt.

Looking at Leah now, Vincent smiled and said: "Alright, let’s try it."

Leah was sowhat flattered.

When she saw Vincent’s car, she was indeed a bit surprised and happy, but Leah didn’t presumptuously think Vincent ca for her.

She knew her place very well and understood what she wanted.

Getting close to Vincent, she wasn’t asking for his heart, she just wanted to get what she desired from him.
