Ben's eyes snapped downward. A massive wave of Ravagers sprinted toward the entrance, claws digging deep into the earth, tearing through the fungal terrain with terrifying speed.
They weren't just attacking. They were going to break through. The Krell Archers loosed their arrows—dark streaks slicing through the air, striking down the first line of attackers. So fell, screeching as they crashed into the ground, their bodies twitching.
But it wasn't enough. For every Ravager that fell, ten more surged forward.
What use was a handful of projectiles against a hundred enemies?
"Reinforce the gate! NOW!" Ben barked, already turning on his heel, sprinting full speed back to the stronghold. 'If this was a ga, I'd just press M and teleport back.'
But this wasn't a ga. And he had no teleportation thod. Right now, all he could do was run. And hope the walls and gates held until he got there. The base didn't have many resources left, so at least there was nothing valuable to lose. But that didn't an he didn't care.
All the ti. The effort. His stronghold was his foundation. 'Why the hell are they attacking now?'
Is it really just revenge?
He had only killed a few of them before. As he ran, his mind raced. The Ravagers were smart—but not like Shadow. Not like humans. 'Is this territorial? Did I step into their hunting grounds? Or… is it just in their instinct to take revenge for any kind of loss?' While Ben was deep in thought The battle had already begun.
***
anwhile at the stronghold The Ravagers crashed into the gate like a living battering ram, their bodies slamming against reinforced wood and stone. The entire stronghold shook under the impact.
Above, the Krell Archers fired relentlessly. Arrows rained down, piercing into the pack, but the Ravagers didn't slow.
Instead, They climbed. With terrifying strength, they scaled the walls, claws digging into every crevice. The Krell Scouts let out warning cries, turning their fire onto the climbers, but for every one they shot down, two more replaced it.
The gate buckled. Cracks splintered through the reinforced structure. It wouldn't hold. From the walls—the Krell Soldiers moved. They leaped. Dark chitin bodies soared through the air, weapons drawn. With a deafening CRASH, they landed right into the heart of the Ravager horde.
The battle erupted.
A Krell Soldier tore into the frontlines, its halberd slicing clean through a Ravager's neck. The beast collapsed instantly, but another jumped, its fangs aiming for the Krell's throat. The Soldier twisted sidestepping just in ti before slamming its shield into the creature's skull.
CRACK!
The Ravager's head caved in, its body dropping lifelessly to the ground. But there were too many. Two more pounced from the side, claws raking across the Krell's armor, sparks flying.
Another Krell Soldier move forward, impaling one through the stomach with its spear, before twisting the weapon free, splattering the ground with dark blood. Another Krell spun mid-air, landing atop a Ravager's back. Before the beast could react its head was severed clean from its body.
But the tide was endless.
The Ravagers pushed forward relentlessly, their glowing spines flashing rapidly, coordinating attacks like a swarm of predators working in unison. The gate—on its last legs—finally gave in.
With a thunderous crack, the entire structure collapsed inward, dust and debris exploding outward. The stronghold was breached. The Ravagers poured in, their glowing spines pulsing rapidly, signaling to one another as they surged through the entrance.
The Krell inside braced for impact.
BOOM!!!
The first wave of Ravagers never even made it past the threshold. The ground erupted in a fiery explosion, bodies ripped apart mid-charge. Explosive talismans triggered. More detonations followed in quick succession.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
The battlefield turned into chaos. Ravagers shrieked as flas engulfed them, bodies torn apart by the concussive blasts. The unlucky ones that survived the explosions staggered, dazed, their movents disoriented. And the Krell took advantage.
A Krell Soldier leapt forward, driving its halberd through a wounded Ravager's chest, pinning it to the ground. Another Krell followed up, slamming its shield into the skull of a half-burned beast, caving it in instantly.
The traps had done their job. But the wave wasn't over. The Ravagers at the back adjusted imdiately, their spines flickering in rapid sequences, relaying orders. They began weaving through the explosions, avoiding the remaining traps, charging in from multiple directions.
A second wave flooded into the stronghold. The Krell t them head-on. A Ravager rushed forward, jaws stretching wide to tear through armor and flesh. The Krell Soldier didn't flinch. It sidestepped, caught the beast's massive head with two of its arms, and with a sickening crack, snapped its neck clean in half. The Ravager's body convulsed, but the Soldier was already moving, hurling the corpse into the next attacker, knocking it off balance.
Another Ravager smashed into a Krell, sending them both tumbling across the battlefield. The beast raked its claws across the soldier's carapace, trying to tear through the armor. The Krell snarled, four arms locking onto its opponent. Jaw crushed down onto the Ravager's throat. Dark blood sprayed across the ground as the soldier ripped its windpipe out.
More Ravagers rushed the walls. Above, the Krell Scouts fired down relentlessly, but they could only do so much. The mont quivers ran empty, they discarded their bows, drawing their blades instead.
So jumped straight into the chaos below. A Scout landed on a Ravager's back, blade punching into its skull. The beast thrashed wildly, but the Scout refused to let go It twisted the blade, hacked again, again—until the head split apart.
The gate collapsed completely, and the Ravagers flooded in. But the Krell had prepared for this. One Soldier grabbed a Ravager by its tail, spun, and hurled it sideways Directly onto a trap.
BOOOOM!
The explosion ripped the beast apart, sending chunks of burning flesh flying. Another Ravager charged recklessly, blinded by bloodlust. A Krell Scout sidestepped, kicking it backward right into a pressure plate.
BOOM!
The trap detonated instantly, vaporizing the creature mid-air. Smoke filled the battlefield.
