Roland’s aura spread like a rising tide.
A huge sword of Aether ford in his hand.
He shot forward like a cot toward Elvira and Draeven.
Draeven slamd his shovel upward.
The purple mist along its edge thickened.
CLANG!!!
The clash shook the barrier do around them.
Roland’s sword slid, then snapped back into line.
"Oh?" Roland said.
"So you still hide so of your power."
Draeven did not answer.
He never hid any power. This was what he got from the Primordial Fla.
He charged again.
The shovel carved a sharp arc aid for Roland’s neck.
Roland twisted his wrist.
His sword grew longer by a full ter.
The tip cut down like a guillotine.
BAM!!!
Draeven blocked.
The force drove him back three steps.
His arms went numb for a heartbeat.
Elvira’s eyes flashed.
She lifted her hand and sent thin threads of mana into the air.
They ford a small circle that spun beside Draeven’s shoulder.
"Don’t waste ti," she said.
Roland lunged again.
This ti his sword split into three afterimages.
Each strike ca from a different angle.
Draeven took two hits on his armor.
He let the third slide past his ribs.
Then he ramd his shoulder into Roland’s chest.
BOOM!!!
Roland’s body spun in midair.
He flipped once and kicked off the air again, drifting back with controlled distance.
The sword returned to a single shape.
SWOSH!!!
Before Roland could act, a huge fireball shot out from the circle Elvira created.
It roared past Draeven’s shoulder and swallowed Roland’s position in fla and smoke.
"Good," Roland said from inside the blaze.
"Now we can enjoy this."
BOOM!
Around them, the open plain below erupted into total war.
The Magus lines raised their staves in unison.
Mana and Aether surged like a tide.
Flaming lances, ice spears, lightning storms.
The Krell Mages answered with a unified roar.
The massive circle above their ranks split into nine rotating arrays.
Crystal shields rose in layered waves.
The first exchange turned the plain into a storm of light.
Shockwaves tore trenches into the ground.
Dust and sparks mixed with heat haze.
Draeven caught it in the corner of his eyes while the smoke still hung between him and Roland.
Old mories surfaced.
Back then they had found only one Magus, and he lost all of his friends.
Now he fought a whole army of them, and sohow they could keep up.
The Krell had evolved at an unprecedented speed.
’If we have more ti...’
Draeven was sure they would be invincible.
A line of Krell Archers stepped forward.
Mana gathered along their arms and ford glowing shafts in midair.
SHHFFFT! SHHFFFT!
The arrows pierced half-ford spells.
They shattered magic circles before they stabilized.
Above them, Krell riders leaped forward.
Their chitin armor glowed under the rotating arrays.
They smashed into the edges of the Magus line, crushing them.
Aether exploded.
Several riders died in the blast.
But the second wave used the smoke as cover and pushed deeper.
Tancred’s eyes narrowed.
"Seems our army is losing."
Galahad gave a low laugh.
"As I said, they’re all trash."
Tristan raised his lance.
"Knights, move!"
Roland glanced over his shoulder through the smoke.
He clicked his tongue like he was annoyed to be interrupted.
Then he moved in a way that finally made the air clear.
He snapped one fast strike at Draeven.
CLAAANG!!!
The impact shoved Draeven back half a step.
Roland’s sword brightened.
He used that tiny gap and moved like a teor, straight toward the Krell front line.
"Roland!" Tancred called.
Roland answered with action.
He hit the ground in the middle of a Krell formation and swung his sword in a wide arc.
BOOOOM!!!
The impact spread out in a ring.
The shockwave tore through the shields and bodies around him.
Dozens of Krell were thrown back.
Their Armor bent.
The Ground cracked.
Elvira’s pupils shrank.
"Such Power, the krell won’t hold long..."
Roland laughed from inside the dust.
He swung again.
BAM!!! BAM!!! BAM!!!
Every swing turned into an area blast.
Krell formations were forced to loosen, then bend around him.
"Draeven!" Elvira called.
Draeven did not hesitate.
He kicked off the air and shot down after Roland.
Tancred finally moved.
He raised his staff.
Aether flowed around him like chains.
"Bind," he said.
Silver chains of Aether appeared out of thin air.
They moved onto Krell Mages, one by one.
A Mage tried to raise his staff.
The chain tightened for half a breath.
His casting window was cut.
The spell fizzled out.
Another tried to stack shields.
The chain jerked his hand at the last mont.
The shield ford late and left a gap.
A Magus spell pierced through and blew a Krell rider off his mount.
At the sa ti, he spread a faint glow over the Magus ranks.
The next volley of spells beco more stronger.
"Buff support..." Elvira muttered.
Galahad stepped forward with a lazy tilt of his head.
He spread his hands.
"Let’s make it even more fun," he said.
The air in front of the Krell army shimred.
The ground seed to shift by a few steps to the left.
Then to the right.
Rows of Krell Archers loosed their next shot.
The arrows rained down three ters off target.
So even fell into their own front line shields.
"Elvira!" one of the Krell shouted.
"Our range is off!"
"Galahad," she said through clenched teeth.
"Sight and sense interference. Illusion."
And this is not just normal spell.
Elvira could feel it contain power of Law.
Looking up he could see the barrier that seal the space.
She clicked her tongue.
"Tristan is the anchor. As long as he holds that lance, we will never leave."
Roland drove forward through the Krell.
Each swing of his sword turned into a small disaster.
Tancred’s chains shoot forward, helping the Magus hit harder.
Galahad’s distortion made every Krell long range attack miss.
"This is bad," Draeven growled.
He landed between Roland and the nearest Krell Mage line.
Roland’s sword ca down.
CLAAANG!!!
The shovel blocked it.
Purple mist clashed with bright Aether.
