"Ignis Nova!"
A surge of fire erupted outward, a do of scorching heat expanding across the battlefield.
FWOOSH!
The flas collided with her earlier wind spell, fusing into a concentrated stream of roaring fire, all of it aid straight at the swirling black mist.
The inferno engulfed it, light and heat devouring the shadow.
For a brief mont, the darkness writhed, twisting and thrashing violently inside the firestorm.
Then—it moved.
From within the smoke, the Alpha's voice rumbled, low and chilling. "Too late."
Ben's stomach dropped. The black mass lurched forward, its movent unnatural, oily, like sothing that didn't belong in the physical world.
Suddenly, a tendril of solidified shadow burst from the mist, twisting mid-air as it lashed toward Elvira.
"Move!" Ben shouted.
Elvira leapt back, barely evading as the tendril slamd into the ground, carving deep, jagged fissures into the scorched earth.
The swirling smoke began to thicken, the shadows pulling together, compacting—then solidifying.
A figure erged. The Krell Alpha was back. But sothing was different.
It was smaller—almost like a chibi-sized version of its previous form. Yet despite the reduced size, its presence was heavier, its grin twisted into sothing far more malevolent.
Its body crackled with unstable energy, and its six glowing eyes were now sharper, smarter, more deliberate.
Then—the shadow beneath it moved. Like a living thing, it twisted and coiled, snaking upward in long, fluid tentacles.
One of them wrapped around the fireball Elvira had launched earlier.
The tentacle compressed like rubber, absorbing the remaining heat, then snapped back—HURLING the blazing projectile straight at her.
Elvira's eyes widened as the stolen fireball roared toward her, flas spinning wildly. She twisted mid-air, casting "Adamant Bastion!"
A shimring shield snapped into place—just in ti.
BOOM!
The impact rocked her backward, the heat searing through the barrier before it shattered. She landed hard, skidding across the broken ground, smoke rising from her boots.
The new Krell Alpha stepped forward, its smaller fra make it more agile, the darkness under him start to spread creating it's own domain.
The Alpha raised its arm.
The shadow beneath its feet peeled away, twisting upward like liquid silk. In an instant, blades ford.
Ben charged from the side, "You guys really a cockroach!"
He swung his pickaxe. But the Alpha vanished it's body lded into the shadow.
Swosh! Swosh! Swosh!
Dozens of shadow spears burst from the ground, launched like missiles.
Ben's eyes widened. "What—" He dodged the first—barely. Swiped the second away—barely.
The third tore across his side, shredding through adaptive muscle like cloth. Blood sprayed.
"Tch!"
More shadows rose behind him, forming a cage of spears, twisting together like a storm of blades.
Ben tried to retreat, but the spears moved with him, adapting to his motion, cutting off his angles, pinning him down.
From above, Elvira's voice rang out. "Tempest Fang!"
A cyclone of razor-edged wind and lightning tore down from the sky, slicing through the shadow constructs.
CRASH!
The impact shredded half the spears, giving Ben just enough of an opening. He leapt back, landing hard, breathing raggedly, shoulder bleeding, his clothes ripped to tatters.
"Bastard," he growled, wiping blood from his jaw. "It's even faster now. It's really controlling darkness... but why didn't it use this before?"
Elvira floated down beside him, eyes locked on the new form of the Alpha, who stood still, surrounded by living, pulsing shadows.
"He couldn't," she said calmly. "It didn't evolve. It sacrificed its old powers to gain this one."
As if on cue, the Alpha lifted one hand. The shadows pulsed—then surged. Dozens of spears multiplied in an instant, twisting into sleek bolts of darkness. They launched forward like a swarm of black arrows, screaming through the air.
Seeing the incoming attack, a storm of thoughts flooded Elvira's mind.
Even though she was confident in what she had told Ben earlier, part of her still couldn't understand how the Alpha had changed so drastically.
"Elvira, try using your light magic," Ben said, eyes locked on the advancing wave of shadows. He didn't know if it would work—but in most cases, darkness had only one natural counter. Light. There was no harm in trying.
Elvira hesitated for only a heartbeat. She didn't fully understand the logic—but when her beloved suggested sothing, there was always a reason behind it.
Without a word, her hands lifted. "Hallowed Barrage!"
The sky shimred. Dozens of luminous spears appeared in the air, glowing with radiant energy. They shot forward, colliding with the oncoming darkness.
Light clashed with shadow, each impact bursting in a violent flash as the battlefield lit up with explosions of magic.
The darkness spears ca fast and relentless, a swarm so dense it was like a black tidal wave bearing down on them.
Elvira's Hallowed Barrage t them mid-air—bright, divine spears of light piercing into the shadow, each collision bursting into blinding flashes.
But there were too many. The darkness overwheld the light, engulfing the glowing lances one by one. The spears of shadow twisted and writhed, consuming everything in their path.
Elvira's breath hitched. "It's not enough."
She glanced at the bracelet on her wrist—the oen gifted by Ben. White gemstone could enhance holy elental magic. Before she never use it, as holy elnt barely have any effect. But now? Now it's different.
Her magic circle expanded. The spears of light flared, each one glowing with more intensity—then they split, forking into multiple radiant spear.
Dozens beca hundreds. The swarm of shadow clashed again, but this ti, it wasn't enough.
Light tore through the dark, illuminating the battlefield with bursts of brilliance as more and more spears struck ho.
The Krell Alpha, still standing in the center, narrowed its six eyes. Its shadows lashed outward, trying to reinforce the collapsing tide.
That was the mont Ben moved. He dashed through the chaos, using the blasts of light as cover. His pickaxe glead, ready for the final strike.
He launched himself at the Alpha's back. But the shadows felt him coming. A mass of dark tendrils shot up from the ground, forming a wall between them.
