{Chapter: 227 Thor}

William narrowed his eyes at the group standing atop the mound and said calmly, "That's S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson. Since there's nothing left for us to do here, let's head back to Old Bridge City." Without waiting for a response, he reached out and grabbed Pepper's hand, gently but firmly leading her toward the parked car.

"Let go of ," Pepper protested sharply, yanking her hand back. "I can walk on my own, thank you very much."

William smirked, unfazed. "Suit yourself."

The vehicle roared to life and rolled eastward along the dusty road, leaving behind the mysterious hamr and the murmuring crowd.

As they sped along the plateau highway under the vast blue sky, Pepper broke the silence with a pointed question. "Why are you so determined to go to Old Bridge City? What's there that you're so eager to see?"

"To find a beautiful woman," William replied without hesitation, his voice as casual as if he were comnting on the weather.

Pepper scoffed in disbelief. "You're unbelievable. Just a damn stallion in a nice suit. You're involved with Alice and Ada—do you even know the aning of loyalty? I honestly don't know what's wrong with them for sticking around soone like you."

Her words were sharp, laced with bitterness and judgnt.

William raised an eyebrow, not bothering to defend himself. "You're harsh today," he said simply. "But maybe one day soone will say the sa about us. we are also in a relationship of adultery."

Pepper's head whipped toward him, her voice fierce and unwavering. "Absolutely not. That is never going to happen. You've crossed too many lines with . If I could rip you to pieces and throw each part into a different volcano, I would."

William gave a quiet chuckle, unfazed. "If saying that out loud helps you feel better, then say it. But rember—verbal attacks don't change a thing."

Pepper clenched her fists. "Damn you."

anwhile, in the heart of Jiuqiao City, two n and two won stepped into a brightly lit fast-food restaurant. The clatter of trays and the low hum of conversation filled the air. One of the n was exceptionally tall, with broad shoulders and a proud glint in his eyes, though there was also a glimr of childlike wonder behind the arrogance.

The four of them found an empty table and sat down.

"I'm starving," the tall man declared in a booming voice. "Bring the food, now!"

"Keep your voice down," one of the won scolded, her tone calm but firm. "They'll bring it when it's ready."

"Jane," the second woman whispered, leaning toward her friend. "He acts like he's never been in a restaurant before. It's like he's from so mountaina."

The tall man thumped his fist lightly on the table and declared, "Not the mountains! I am from Asgard, realm of the gods. I am Thor, son of Odin, king of the gods!"

Jane couldn't help but laugh. "You poor thing. Clearly delusional. But don't worry, we don't judge people based on their ntal health."

Just then, the waitress arrived at their table with a tray of cakes and drinks. "Here you go—your order. Enjoy your al."

"Thank you," Jane said politely, and then turned to Thor. "Alright, go ahead. Dig in."

Without hesitation, Thor began devouring the food with enthusiasm. "What is this? I've never had anything like it. It's... incredible!"

"If you like it that much, you can always order more," Jane said with a warm smile. "Just slow down. No one's going to take it away from you."

"You're like a bottomless pit!" the other girl, Darcy, laughed. "How can one man eat so much?"

Just then, the door opened, and William and Pepper stepped inside. They scanned the room and spotted the group of four. William's eyes briefly lingered on the tall man, recognizing the presence radiating from him.

They walked over and took a seat at the table next to Jane's group. After placing an order for cakes and drinks, William leaned back, calm and relaxed.

"You're not going to eat?" he asked, glancing at Pepper.

Pepper crossed her arms and shot him a look. "Why are we really here? What exactly are you planning?"

William gave a small smile and replied smoothly, "I'm just an astronor, rember? With all the bizarre atmospheric and cosmic anomalies happening around here, how could I not be curious?"

Pepper blinked, caught off guard. "Astronor?"

At the nearby table, Darcy's ears perked up. She leaned over toward Jane and whispered loudly, "Hey, Jane—did you hear that? He's an astronor too. Maybe he's studying the sa weird stuff you are."

Jane shot her a look. "Darcy, stop it. You're embarrassing ."

"No, seriously," Darcy continued, eyes bright. "Maybe you two should team up. You know, collaborate. Share data. Two heads are better than one, right?"

Jane turned her gaze to William, now studying him more closely, her interest clearly piqued.

Just then Thor drained the drink in one loud gulp, then slamd the empty cup onto the ground with a grin. "This drink is delicious! Another one!" he shouted enthusiastically.

The cup shattered on impact, and several fragnts bounced up, a few landing against William's cheek.

Pepper stood up in alarm, her expression sharp. "What are you doing?!" she snapped, glancing toward Jane and her companions.

Startled, Jane quickly got to her feet and rushed over. "I'm so sorry!" she said urgently, her voice full of embarrassnt. "My friend—he's... going through sothing. He doesn't an any harm. Please don't take offense."

William brushed a shard off his face with a calm expression. "It's fine," he replied with a light chuckle. "Your friend's behavior is... rather entertaining."

Jane turned back and shot Thor an exasperated look. "Thor! What are you thinking? Why would you smash the cup like that?"

Thor looked confused by the scolding. "What's wrong? I wanted another drink, so I asked for one," he said, genuinely puzzled.

Jane sighed deeply and tried to keep her cool. "This isn't Asgard! You don't need to break things to get service here. Just ask for a refill. Politely."

"You Midgardians are strange," Thor muttered, shaking his head. "In Asgard, this is perfectly acceptable behavior."

Trying to diffuse the situation, Jane offered William an apologetic smile. "He tends to say weird things sotis. Please don't take his words seriously."

William tilted his head, his eyes glinting with curiosity. "He just ntioned Asgard, didn't he? That's the mythical realm from Norse legend, ho of the gods. If he's claiming to be from there, he must be a fascinating person."

Jane paused, unsure how to respond. "You don't actually believe him, do you? He's a bit... unstable. It's not real, of course."

William gave her a knowing smile. "Not everything that can't be proven is false. Myths are often just misunderstood science waiting to be unraveled."

Jane blinked, surprised by his perspective. "That's... a pretty interesting way of looking at it. You're an astronor?"

William nodded. "Indeed. I've been monitoring so unusual energy fluctuations in the area. My instrunts picked up anomalies in the local space-ti readings. That's what brought here—I felt like sothing important was waiting."

Jane's eyes lit up with recognition. "That's incredible! I'm researching similar phenona. Maybe we should compare data soti. I'm Jane Foster."

"Tom," William replied smoothly, offering his hand. He had to use a false na—after all, 'William' had beco a na that struck fear into the hearts of governnts and children alike.

Jane took his hand and smiled. "Nice to et you, Tom. Mind if I sit down?"

"Please do." He didn't let go of her hand.

Jane chuckled. "Well then, would you mind letting go of my hand first?"

William laughed sheepishly and released her. "Ah, forgive . I was just delighted to et a fellow scientist. I hope I didn't co across as rude."

"Hmph." From the other side of the table, Pepper scoffed audibly. The sound was sharp and full of disdain. This man, she thought, always wearing his fake charm like a mask. If only the world knew what he was really like—a fraud, a deceiver, the bane of every sensible woman's existence.

Jane turned to Pepper with a polite smile. "And who is this?"

William answered for her, still smiling. "You can call her Pepper. She's my assistant. Her personality is a bit prickly—cold and temperantal, even—but she's good at her job."

"I am not your assistant," Pepper snapped, her voice filled with irritation.

"See what I an?" William said with a grin. "She's prideful. But please don't be offended by her attitude."

Jane raised an eyebrow but nodded slowly. "I see... I see. Though I have to ask, why would soone like you work with soone so... difficult?"

William leaned back slightly and smirked. "Let's just say I have a soft heart. I tend to take in strays—cats, dogs, difficult coworkers. I can't just throw them away, you know? Without , they'd be lost."

Jane chuckled, covering her mouth with her hand. "You're unbelievable."

Pepper's patience snapped. "Go to hell, you narcissistic bastard!" she shouted.

The restaurant fell quiet for a beat, but William just laughed, unbothered by her outburst.
