World Domination Begins With Getting a System in a Modern World Chapter 150: The Warmth Of Home
After parking in the circular driveway, Jas cut the engine and sat there for a mont.
The sky above was a deep velvet blue, the last glimrs of daylight fading behind the hills.
The mansion lood quietly before him, with its warm and inviting lights, promising shelter after a long and exhausting day.
With a tired sigh, Jas grabbed his golf bag from the passenger seat and it felt heavier than usual, and made his way toward the front door.
The mont he stepped inside, a wave of sweet, mouthwatering aroma hit him — rich spices, slow-cooked herbs, and the unmistakable scent of fresh bread.
It was like walking into a warm embrace.
He didn’t even have ti to call out before Leslie appeared, erging from the kitchen with a bright smile lighting up her face.
The mont her eyes t his, she quickened her pace, closing the distance between them in a few quick steps.
Without a word, she reached for the golf bag, sliding it off his shoulder with ease before pulling him into a tight, full-bodied hug.
Jas let out a low chuckle, as he felt the tension in his muscles lting slightly under her touch.
Then she tilted her head up and kissed him, deep and slow.
Jas leaned into the kiss, letting the world fall away for a mont.
When they finally broke apart, Leslie still kept her arms around him, her forehead resting lightly against his chest.
"You look exhausted," she murmured.
"Yeah," Jas admitted, with a low voice.
Leslie smiled and grabbed his hand, gently leading him toward the living room, her free hand still clutching his golf bag like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Jas collapsed onto the plush couch with a heavy sigh, the soft cushions swallowing him whole. He leaned his head back, closed his eyes, and let out a deep breath.
Leslie perched herself on the armrest beside him, her hand finding his and giving it a small, reassuring squeeze.
Without even needing to ask how his day went, she could see it — etched in the slant of his shoulders and the faint weariness tugging at his features.
"Mom’s already cooking dinner. You just rest," she said softly.
Jas gave a small nod, feeling grateful beyond words. He was happy that she didn’t ask about his day, as he didn’t have the energy for conversation. At least not until he has refueled.
Leslie quietly rose, taking the golf bag upstairs to his room, while Jas relaxed on the couch.
He stared up at the ceiling, his mind drifting through flashes of the day. The day has been very hectic, form the weekly tournant to his training session with Mr Donovan, he barely had the opportunity to catch his breath.
He knew that this was necessary for him to achieve what he wants. But the fact that this is how hectic his days and his schedule will be from on, was sothing he will have to get used to.
Jas sighed softly and decided to rest his brain. He knew that nothing will change from him overthinking it.
Leslie returned from Jas’ room and she slipped onto the couch beside him, wrapping her arms around his torso and resting her head against his chest.
Jas smiled softly, feeling her warmth seep into him. No words were needed as her presence alone was enough to drain the last bits of tension from his body.
They stayed like that for a long, peaceful stretch of ti, until Patty’s voice floated in from the dining area.
"Dinner’s ready!"
Jas opened his eyes and slowly stood up. Leslie squeezed his hand one more ti before standing up, and together they made their way toward the dining room.
The table was already set and it was simple. Glasses of cold water, bowls of steaming vegetables, a beautiful roast glistening under the soft lighting, and a fresh basket of dinner rolls.
Jas took his seat slowly, his body still heavy with fatigue, while Leslie helped her mother with the last of the plates.
Soon enough, all three of them sat down and began to eat.
There wasn’t much conversation — just the occasional murmur of appreciation for the food, the clink of cutlery against china, and the gentle sounds of them eating in a comfortable silence.
As he ate, Jas made he savored every bite. Patty’s cooking, as always, was excellent — seasoned to perfection, hearty without being overwhelming. And for him, each mouthful was like another step toward recovery from his hellish day.
When he finished, Jas rose from his seat and leaned down, giving Patty a kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you," he said sincerely.
Patty waved him off with a smile, pretending to shoo him toward the stairs.
Jas chuckled under his breath and made his way upstairs, with every muscle in his body aching in that satisfying way.
He entered his bedroom, dropped his clothes into the hamper without ceremony, and trudged into the adjoining bathroom.
The hot water hit his skin like a benediction, loosening tight muscles and washing away the last gri of the day.
Jas stood there for a long while, letting the steam swirl around him, with his eyes closed, as his mind drifted.
Eventually, he forced himself to step out, toweling off briskly before pulling on his sleepwear — a simple, soft set of shorts and a black T-shirt.
He moved back into the bedroom and he felt welcod by the soft, familiar surroundings.
He slipped into bed, letting his head sink into the cool pillow.
Just as his mind was beginning to blur at the edges with sleep, his phone buzzed softly from the nightstand.
Jas groaned quietly, rolling over and picking it up.
The screen lit up with a single notification: a ssage from Mr. Donovan’s secretary.
Jas didn’t even have to open it to know what it was.
Still, he tapped it open, and — just as expected — it was Mr Donovan’s account detail.
Without hesitation, Jas navigated to his banking app. He keyed in the account number, double-checked it, and entered the paynt amount: $24,000.
The amount was enough to cover today’s session, and the next week’s worth of training in advance.
He confird the transfer with a final tap, and the app flashed a green checkmark.
Done.
Jas set the phone down, feeling the final threads of tension unwind from his chest, as he shifted under the covers, letting everything else drift away.
And this ti, sleep ca easily.
