"Hello, Jas. Chris spoke highly of you. I have an opening Friday afternoon. 2 PM. Bel-Air Country Club, south practice range. Bring your own clubs. No excuses."

***

Jas didn’t expect to receive a reply so soon from Mr Donovan. Though he was hoping to receive a reply soon but not this fast.

Also, he hadn’t expected for them to et at at the Bel Air Country Club at the beginning. He thought that they would et, maybe at a high-end restaurant or café, talk and Mr Donovan will check him out before agreeing to train him.

But he seem to understand the reason why after reading the ssage. He feels that the only reason why Mr Donovan replied this quick was because of his referrer, Mr Chris, the old man at the golf shop.

"He said that they are acquaintances but this doesn’t seem to be the case," Jas thought to himself, and smiled.

He has no idea who the man is but he’s very grateful for giving him a chance like this.

"I should better reply imdiately and confirm the eting," he said, as he quickly typed his reply.

"Thank you, Mr. Rick. Friday afternoon works perfectly. See you then."

After making sure that there was no error with what he typed, he hit the send button. Confirming that the ssage had been sent, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Good. That is done and I will be eting with Mr Donovan next tomorrow," Jas muttered to himself.

He felt that lady luck was with him. Today is currently Wednesday and he has a dinner date with Natasha later. And he will be eting up with Alina tomorrow to begin their plan take down the McCullens.

Which ans he probably won’t be free tomorrow and if Mr Donovan had set the eting for tomorrow, he might find himself stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Also, Jas will use tomorrow to prepare himself for the eting.

"What should I wear to the eting? It would make more sense if I go in my full golf wear. Though, I don’t know if there’s anything else I need," he muttered.

Now that he thought about it. Maybe the reason why Mr Donovan wants them to et at the country club is because he wants to check how good he is.

"There’s no use overthinking it. I will find it out by Friday afternoon." He sighed, and smiled.

His thoughts shifted to how the dinner date with Natasha. With Jas’ understanding of Natasha’s character and how much she likes him, he couldn’t help but have a feeling that the night won’t end with the dinner date. But he wasn’t worried. It actually made to look forward to it even more.

Natasha is a very beautiful lady and there’s no man that wouldn’t fall head over Hills for her. This has been proven by the fact that she’s slightly behind Leslie when it cos to the number of suitors and confessions they have received.

It wasn’t just the two of them. Leslie’s group is filled with beauties. Natasha, Selena, Thalia and the identical twins, they are girls that every male wanted to date back in high school. And graduating, they have beco even more beautiful.

Jas rembered how he had always been the subject of envy and jealousy because he was close to them.

A lot of guys had approached him to be friends but he could sense their true intentions at a glance, and he never agreed.

He has no idea why but he always felt a sense of protectiveness whenever it cos to the girls and Patty. And the fact that they always rely on him kinda make him feel proud.

Also, now that he thought about it, all of Leslie’s friends are still single.

"Sigh... What am I thinking about right now?" Jas muttered to himself.

He shook the thoughts out of his head. He was about to stand up from the chair when he heard a knock on the door, followed by Leslie’s voice.

"Jas, lunch is ready," she said.

Jas stood up from chair and walked to the door. He opened it and saw Leslie standing at the entrance, with a smile on her face.

"Hey, are you busy? Lunch is ready," she said.

"I’m done with what I’m doing. Let’s go eat," he said.

He stepped out of the study and made his way downstairs, with Leslie following beside him.

"Hey, Jas," Leslie called to Jas, as they walked.

"Mmmhmm," he replied, as he glanced at her.

"So, your dinner date with Natasha is tonight... Are you guys going to end it at just that, or are you taking it all the way?" Leslie asked.

Her voice casual at first, but the last few words ca out in a near whisper — so soft it was almost like she didn’t want him to hear. But Jas heard. Loud and clear.

He blinked, surprised, his lips twitching into a smirk.

"What did you say?" he asked, stepping a little closer, clearly wanting her to repeat herself.

"Nothing," Leslie muttered quickly, her cheeks flaring red as she spun around, trying to walk away and escape the heat crawling up her neck.

She barely moved two steps before a firm yet gentle hand seized her wrist, stopping her dead in her tracks.

Her breath hitched, and she bit her lower lip, forcing herself not to look back at him. She knew if she did, she would lose control.

"Leslie, look at ," Jas said, his voice low, calm, but commanding, his hand still wrapped around her wrist.

When she didn’t respond, he tugged her gently but insistently, pulling her toward him until they were standing close, their bodies almost brushing.

Leslie finally raised her head, weakly, and their eyes t — blue against the duo of ocean blue and deep brown. She could see his smile — soft, teasing, but also sothing deeper underneath.

"Are you jealous that I’m going out on a date with Natasha?" he asked, with his voice playful and his gaze curiously searching her eyes.

He already knew the answer. It was obvious. It was shining in her eyes, painted across her face.

For a mont, neither of them spoke. They just stood there, caught in a mont that felt too fragile, and too important to break.

Jas watched her closely, his chest tightening with a strange mix of emotions he didn’t want to na yet.

It was then, in that quiet charged space between them, that he finally understood everything — the feelings they both had buried for so long, pretending not to see, and pretending not to feel.

Leslie’s gaze faltered, and she dropped her head, her cheeks burning with sha, with longing, with everything she had never been brave enough to say out loud.

"I’m not jealous that you’re going out on a date with her," she mumbled, her voice small, fragile.

Jas smiled softly.

"Then why do I sense it so clearly?" he asked, his thumb gently brushing against the back of her hand.

There was a long pause. Leslie squeezed her eyes shut for a second, gathering the courage she had never been able to summon before.

"Because..." she whispered, her voice trembling, "because I wanted to be your first in everything."

Then, without thinking, she stepped forward and buried her face against his chest.

Jas stiffened slightly at first, caught off guard by the sudden confession, but he quickly relaxed, wrapping his arms around her protectively.

He lowered his head, his chin resting lightly against her hair, breathing her in. Her scent was familiar — comforting — and yet, sohow, it made his heart race like he was experiencing it for the first ti.

He had no words.

All the walls he had carefully built up around his heart over the years — all the excuses, the denials — crumbled at once.

After moving in with Leslie and her mom, Jas has developed feelings for the both of them. At first, he didn’t understand his feelings and he thought that he just liked her as family, but as ti went on, he realised that this wasn’t the case.

With the realisation, he was scared and tried to kill the feeling, but instead, it beca even stronger. He decided to suppress it and redirect the feeling to soone else, Laila, but it didn’t work.

But he had no idea that Leslie also like her in that way. He had always hide his emotions and so had Leslie.

He smiled weakly, as his fingers moved slowly, tenderly through her hair, calming her, grounding her.

Leslie lted against him completely, trembling slightly, overwheld by the emotions surging inside her.

She pulled back just enough to look up at him again, her blue eyes glassy with emotion, her lips parted slightly, searching his face.

Jas stared down at her, his hand still cradling the back of her head, his thumb brushing over her cheek.

And then, without thinking and without hesitation, Leslie rose on her toes and pressed her lips to his.
