Such slaves were unwanted. The traders finally locked him in an iron cage and tossed him aside.
So initially interested custors lost interest after hearing about him, even though the asking price was only three silver coins, less than half the price of an ordinary female slave.
It wasn't until the Female Priest passed by the boy and suddenly stopped, defying the trader's advice to extend her hand into the cage.
The boy's eyes were filled with caution, letting out low growls from his throat like a provoked wild animal.
But the voice of the Female Priest was exceptionally gentle, "It's okay, relax, I'm not your enemy."
The boy could not understand her words, yet his animal instinct told him that this human was different from others he'd encountered.
She was warm, approachable, like the soft belly of a she-wolf.
So the boy did not resist and allowed her hand to rest on his cheek.
"Let see what you've been through," the Female Priest said, then took out a sachet she carried and waved it under the boy's nose.
A mont later, the Female Priest withdrew her hand, her gaze filled with sympathy.
"Poor child," she said turning to the trader, "Open the cage, I've decided to buy this slave."
Having a fool willing to take over made the slave trader quite happy, but conducting business in the area, he must consider his reputation, so he warned, "This one is very savage, be careful when I open the cage that he might attack."
The Female Priest said, "It doesn't matter, he is my first follower on this land, I can assure you he won't attack anyone."
As she spoke, the Female Priest pulled out three silver coins and handed them over to the trader.
The trader realized they were not the standard currency of the Bratis Continent, but in Crab's Corner, he was already used to such things. He weighed them and found the weight quite acceptable, so he had the cage opened.
As soon as a small gap appeared, the boy leapt out, baring his teeth at the slave trader, ready to attack.

Those sneaky figures followed her, hoping to strike when fewer people were around.
But the Female Priest walked straight to a tavern.
Just as the tails hiding in the shadows speculated whether she was going inside to hire rcenaries for protection, the Female Priest turned around and smiled at them.
"Co on in, this al is on ," she said, then pushed the door open and walked inside.
The pickpockets and thieves looked at each other, and finally, one bravely stepped inside, setting an example that the others then followed.
The result was that when they ca out again, they had all beco followers of Valria.

Once she conquered it, the people of this continent would quickly worship the Life Goddess.
This was her true purpose for coming to this land.
And Cornelia almost achieved it, if it had not been for the invasion of the Bratis by the Wing Tribe.
With Edward II poisoned to death, much of her hard work in the Royal Capital went in vain, forcing her to take a step back and continue assisting Allister.
But this ti, her opponent beca the Double Rest Sect and Prophet rlin, whom she knew was also a Foreigner like her.
Cornelia thought she had adequately accounted for Li Yu, yet only after Cornelia's swift defeat of the Black Hand and her reclamation of the Golden Valley did the Female Priest realize she knew nothing about this opponent.
Moreover, the situation might have been worse than she anticipated.
While Cornelia was pondering how to defeat this strong enemy, Hui brought back news that rlin wanted to negotiate with her.
Though Cornelia was unsure what Li Yu wanted to discuss, since the other side released Hui, she decided to show so goodwill in return.
So the Female Priest heard the most outrageous yet chilling story of her life.
But intuition told her that it was all true, that the other party was not lying.
The key was she couldn't find a reason why the other party would lie.
After several nights of internal struggle, Cornelia decided to et with the man, for if rlin would open his heart to her, the Female Priest could then determine the truth.
As a result, that eting completely changed the Female Priest's life and destroyed all her previous plans.
Cornelia then joined Li Yu's plan, and accepted the conditions offered by him, converting to Sabbath and publicly declared the Life Goddess as the embodint of Sabbath, abandoning Allister, and shifted her support to Ireya to beco the Emperor.
In return, Li Yu allowed her to use Sabbath to gather faith.
From that mont on, the world no longer had Priest of Cornelia, replaced instead by the female soldier with the religious na Moira.
