"I know," the Lady said.

"And even if you and your people could defeat us, soon there will be a second army," Halvin said, "this ti, you are making an enemy of the entire Western Territory."

"Those Winged n have already offered a bounty; anyone who can kill you and Prophet rlin can beco the new master of the Western Territory," Halvin paused, "and they also have Dragons."

"So, are you obeying the Winged n’s orders because you want to be the master of the Western Territory, or because you fear that Dragon?"

"Does it matter at this point?" Halvin said, "Whatever the reason, we can only stand against you now."

"Not everyone."

"What?"

"I said not everyone is against . The Batoris Family remains an ally of the Arias Family, honoring the ancient vows. Then there’s the Immanuel Family; they haven’t yielded either..."

Miss Rabbit said, "We are all nobles of the Empire; our ancestors once fought side by side with the Furious Lion Alexandro, we have thrived on this land for hundreds, even thousands of years; this is our land, our ho."

"Do you really intend to hand it over to those invaders?"

"You are right, but we have no choice," Halvin sighed, "You have fought a giant dragon before, you should understand their terror, not to ntion those Winged n."

"They are stronger than the Vespasian Family of old. They have broken through Crab’s Corner, Lion Heart Castle, and in White River City where once an army of a hundred thousand from the Empire was gathered, they still lost to them. The Western Territory does not have that many elites.

"Lord Clovis is right; we are no match for them. If we do not choose to submit, we can only face destruction."

"My father always told when he was alive that the n of the Western Territory were the bravest, the land here may not yield much crop, but the n here never lack courage. Now it seems, my father was quite ... overestimating."

A flicker of displeasure crossed Halvin’s face, "If you called here today to scold and vent your anger, I can let you scold to your heart’s content, after all, we owe you this."

"You have saved the Western Territory more than once, but you should know, this won’t change anything. By tomorrow, we’ll still be at war."

"We could also choose not to fight, for now."

"What?" Halvin frowned.

However, the Lady did not continue on that topic and instead said, "You still haven’t answered my earlier question. When you led your troops to attack my territory, was it for the sake of becoming the master of the Western Territory, or because you fear that White Dragon?"

Halvin hesitated for a mont, "I don’t know what others think, but I indeed want to beco the master of the Western Territory. However, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that Dragon."

Miss Rabbit raised her eyebrows, "Good, then I propose that we have a temporary truce."

"Why?"

"To resolve the root of our conflict."

"I’m afraid that’s impossible... to resolve," Halvin said.

"It seems you really know nothing about the power of Saturday."

Halvin wanted to say sothing more, but the Lady cut him off without ceremony this ti.

"Sir Halvin, you may have misunderstood sothing."

"What’s that?"

"The reason I asked to et you, to discuss postponing the battle, was not because I fear the great army behind you."

"I know, you are doing this to protect your subjects."

"No, I am considering your well-being," the Lady replied indifferently, "without my permission, you couldn’t possibly set foot on my land."

Sir Halvin snorted coldly, "You are a bit too confident..."

Before he could finish, he saw two of Miss Rabbit’s attendants push a strange little cart with only two wheels toward them.

Halvin had noticed that cart early in the day because of its peculiar appearance.

It looked a bit like a freight cart, but much shorter, with a dark iron tube mounted on top of it.

The iron tube looked incredibly heavy, almost impossibly used as weapon since no one could swing it.

Halvin guessed it might be so sort of ritual artifact, but if that were the case, it looked too plain.

There were no Divine Patterns carved on the iron tube.

The two attendants pushed the two-wheeled cart in front of Halvin and his companions, adjusted the position of the iron tube, and aid at the woods below the slope.

One of the Winged n then took out a firestone, lit a small section of rope on top, and quickly retreated to the side.

Seeing this, Miss Rabbit also imdiately plugged her ears with her hands.

Halvin was still wondering why the girl was doing this when the next mont, a loud boom rang out beside him.

The boom was like thunder, accompanied by terrifying flashes of fire and clouds of smoke.

Halvin’s horse, startled by the noise, neighed loudly and bolted uncontrollably to the side.

Halvin struggled to pull the reins tighter, slowly calming the horse, while his three companions fared no better.

One of them was nearly carried down the slope by his steed.

But it wasn’t just the loud noise that caused Halvin’s face to turn so ugly.

He noticed sothing flying out of the iron tube, and at the place where it was aid a ss lied, with three trees smashed apart, and many more with chunks of bark and trunk missing.

Such terrifying impact power would surely be fatal to any person or horse it hit.

Moreover, this thing would likely not stop after hitting soone; it would continue forward, causing extensive casualties.

The Lady removed her hands from her ears and asked the dumbfounded Halvin in front of her.

"How about that? This is the Double Rest Sect’s New Holy Artifact – the Italian Cannon. I have a hundred of such Artifacts."

Miss Rabbit was lying. In fact, the gunpowder factory had been established for less than two months and had only managed to produce four cannons.

And though it was called the Italian Cannon, that na was more a whimsical choice by its inventors, or rather, its reinventors; it was not up to the standard of the M1897 type 75mm cannon, a French rapid-firing gun that only appeared at the end of the nineteenth century and was considered a modern weapon.

The ones Ge Lipeng and his group had co up with more closely resembled ancient artillery, still using black gunpowder and launching solid iron balls.

However, this type of cannon had its advantages; it was easy to produce and, unlike rifles, did not require high-quality barrels.

Therefore, as soon as the steel production in Green Field increased and the craftsn beca familiar with the related processes, it could be manufactured on a large scale.
