After dealing with the people in the yard, Golden Eyes searched the two rooms at the back but didn’t find anyone else.

However, he did find the food stored by the group of children in one of the rooms, only two pieces of brown bread, a piece of smoked at of so unknown animal, and half a pot of boiled beans.

Just as Golden Eyes was feeling hungry himself, he brought the food out to the yard. He took a bite of the brown bread, found it a bit gritty, and tossed it aside nonchalantly.

Then he brought his nose close to the pot of beans, sniffing. Finding no odd sll, he began to ladle them up with a spoon, eating heartily with the piece of smoked at.

Hearing him eating, the five on the ground couldn’t help but swallow their saliva, and they also felt pained for the bread he had thrown away.

Wendy hadn’t lied when she said it was not easy to get food in the city these days; otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone out to rob.

Before long, Golden Eyes had finished the half pot of beans, licked his lips with a sense of unfulfilled craving, and said to the five on the ground.

"I have a few questions..."

"You bad guy, you stole our food, we won’t answer you!" The youngest child yelled.

Golden Eyes grinned, "You haven’t killed anyone, but I have, and not just a few. There were quite a few hundred people."

"You’re lying!"

"I am not lying."

"So the Double Rest Sect wasn’t anything good either," Wendy scoffed, "your hands are just as stained with blood."

"Those people were killed when I was still a dog for Hirodod." Golden Eyes said leisurely, then after a pause, he continued.

"However, I wouldn’t mind killing so more people for the Double Rest Sect. There are still quite a few people in this world who deserve to die."

Wendy sensed a faint but unmistakable intent to kill, realizing this man in front of her was not joking.

After a mont of silence, she gave in, "If we answer your questions, will you let us go?"

"That will depend on your answers," said Golden Eyes, "First question, where did you get those hand crossbows from?"

"They were left by Erin’s father; he used to be a guard for the Raimondi family but was killed by the Blood Moon Association." After Wendy finished, she glanced at Golden Eyes.

His face showed no expression, making it hard to tell if he was satisfied with her answer, "Second question, do you know the cobbler Blade from Perfu Street?"

"I know him," the youth nad Tomman interjected hurriedly, "about a year ago, he moved out of Duolin City, supposedly planning to open a new shop in Rock Snow City with his brother."

"What about the butcher Boggs from Blessing Square?"

The boys and girls looked at each other, and after a mont, the youngest child said, "I saw him a week ago, but then I heard he was called to help at the military camp."

Golden Eyes frowned, and Wendy beside him said, "The three people you are looking for... they shouldn’t be related, right?"

"That’s none of your concern," Golden Eyes said, "I’ve finished asking my questions, now I want you to do sothing else for , leave as many cross markings around the city as possible.

"You can carve them on walls, on the ground, on trees... they don’t need to be too obvious, but try to mark as many spots as you can."

The five knew they had no choice and nodded in agreent.

Afterward, Golden Eyes went over to untie them, but when it ca to Wendy, he stopped.

"You don’t need to go, just stay with , so the others don’t pull any stunts outside."

The four who went out didn’t return until it was dark, by which ti their stomachs were already growling with hunger.

Golden Eyes paid them no mind, so the quartet could only pick up the black bread that Golden Eyes had discarded on the ground earlier and silently shared it with Wendy.

After a tumultuous afternoon, they were all exhausted. They went back to the house and lay down on their beds, but sleep eluded them.

Because Golden Eyes was lying in the room next door.

Soone suggested waiting for Golden Eyes to fall into deep sleep, then sneaking over and slitting his throat, but they feared he might not be completely asleep and if he discovered them, they would be in trouble. Others thought it was best to seize this opportunity to run away.

As everyone was arguing vehently, Wendy spoke up, "Run away, and then what? Where do we go, what do we eat? Without this shelter, how would we survive in the city?"

The crowd fell silent. Gritting her teeth, Erin said, "Then we have to act. He’s carrying so much money. If we can get our hands on it, none of us will have to go hungry again."

ntion of the hefty bag of Gold Coins heated the young n and won’s hearts once more.

However, Wendy threw cold water on the idea once again, "We won’t be able to keep that money."

"We have hand crossbows," Erin retorted, unconvinced.

"But have any of you killed before?" Wendy shot back. "Previously, five against one, you and Tomman even pointed crossbow arrows at that guy, but in the end, he turned the tables and tied us all up."

"So we should just wait to die?" the eldest among them, Gai Long, frowned. "The beans are eaten, the smoked at is gone, tonight we might still have his discarded bread to eat, but what about tomorrow?

"Instead of sitting ducks, it’s better to take another gamble."

Gai Long had barely finished speaking when Golden Eyes’ voice ca from outside the door first.

"How goes it, have you co to a decision?"

The room fell silent in an instant.

Golden Eyes pushed the door open from outside, his gaze sweeping over the five people in the room, his face bearing a smile that was not quite a smile.

It was then that Wendy suddenly spoke up, "We’ve co to a decision, we plan to join the Double Rest Sect."

"Hmm?"

"I don’t plan to stay in Duolin City any longer. There’s nothing left here for anyway, I want to go to Green Field. I just don’t know if I will be able to find work there and support myself."

This answer seed to take Golden Eyes by surprise, he stroked his chin, "You want to go to Green Field? It’s not hard to fill your stomach there; many places are short of hands, and after working for five days, you can rest for two."

"Then it’s settled," Wendy said. "Can you take out of here?"

"No," Golden Eyes replied. "I have other tasks to attend to, and I am not a Sabbath in charge of preaching. Recruiting believers isn’t my responsibility, but... after I’ve finished my tasks, I’ll see if I can take you along."

After finishing, he turned his gaze to the other four. "What about you?"

The four looked at each other. Erin said, "I’m not leaving. Before my father died, he instructed to remain loyal to the Raimondi family. I want to stay here to help them take back Duolin City."

"Co to your senses, Erin," Wendy said. "The Raimondi family is finished, all their people are dead."

"There’s still the collateral branch," Erin muttered.

"When they co back to retake it, then you can co and help. It’s settled, you’re coming with us."

It was clear that Wendy was the leader of this little group. Once she spoke up, although Erin was still reluctant, she eventually stopped insisting on staying.
