The first snow of the year in the Western Territories ca a bit later than usual, and as the crystalline snowflakes settled on the treetops, Miss Rabbit was in her carriage on the way back to Teacup Castle.
About ten days ago, she had taken people to Solid Stone Castle to deliver a batch of winter food and clothing to the wildlings who had settled there and also inspected her new domain.
Compared to the increasingly prosperous Green Field, that place seed a bit primitive and rugged.
The people who had lived on that land were either dead or had fled, and the houses they left behind had all been burnt to the ground.
When Miss Rabbit took over, it was essentially a clean slate, save for a simple military camp left behind by the traitor Morse.
Now, looking at it again, it was still rudintary, but it no longer had that desolate feel from before, and had instead beco lively.
Everywhere you looked there were small tents pitched by the wildlings, and from ti to ti there ca the crude shouts and curses, and the Lady saw a group of wildling warriors wrestling together on an open space in front of the camp.
They called this training, but to Thomas and others, it was plainly just a brawl, with moves that seed random, no patterns, and no discipline.
Previously in the Dragon Ridge Mountain Range, Miss Rabbit had envisioned organizing these wildlings to fight alongside those dwarves, but after a brief attempt, she gave up on this idea.
In the end, they were only used to disrupt the dwarves’ formations and to pick up so easy spoils on the side.
Furthermore, the Lady also saw quite a number of Sabbaths from the Double Rest Sect there.
Unlike the dwarves, these wildlings had beliefs too, but what they had previously revered were just the Mountain Spirits of the Dragon Ridge Mountains, a very primitive belief, sowhat akin to how another plane’s Eskimos believe in animism.
But now that they had left the Dragon Ridge Mountain Range and co back down, the previous Mountain Spirits naturally could no longer protect them.
So they spontaneously began to seek the shelter of new gods.
Li Yu’s handling of them was much like how she had previously tad the lizard people in the Gai Gu Swamp.
It was about integrating Saturday with the wildlings’ original beliefs, which could greatly reduce their wariness and resistance.
Iron Spear provided great assistance with this, being the first wildling convert Li Yu had won over, and it was because of her that Li Yu was able to understand in detail the wildlings’ belief system, lifestyle, and tribal traditions, devising a suitable missionary approach.
In the end, a missionary group led by Adelle was dispatched to preach in the Solid Stone Castle area.
Seeing her good friend Miss Rabbit also made her very happy.
Adelle seed to have completely erged from the shadows of being expelled from the Silver Moon Church in the past.
This ti, she took the initiative, hoping to convince more like-minded people to join the Double Rest Sect and together build the Land God Kingdom.
In the evening, lying in a tent, they started talking about their days studying in the Temple, but as they talked, the topic shifted to Li Yu.
Noticing they were alone in the tent, Miss Rabbit refrained from hiding and stealthily asked her friend, "Hey, what kind of woman do you think Prophet rlin actually likes?"
"Ah?" Adelle was stunned, "This... I’m not clear on that."
"Then what kind of woman do n generally like?" the Lady asked again.
"Well, probably pretty, gentle, good at managing a household, and then... preferably rich," Adelle counted on her fingers.
"That’s exactly !" Miss Rabbit slapped her thigh, epiphany striking, "No wonder the late Emperor also took a fancy to , wanting to marry his son."
"What, you’re engaged to the Prince?" Adelle was surprised.
"No, after the assassination attempt on Edward II, that matter also fell through. Allister then married Duke Schroder’s daughter,"
"Oh, oh, oh." Adelle nodded, but she couldn’t help adding, "The other points aside, Ireya, you don’t really have much to do with gentleness, do you?"
"What do you an, am I not gentle?" Miss Rabbit perked up her ears.
"It’s not that; it just feels like sothing is still missing."
"What am I missing?" The Lady spoke and then felt a bit hungry, so she got up, broke off half a loaf of bread from the table, and nibbled at it while asking.
Adelle hugged her knees, "Question, who is the most charming woman you have ever seen?"
Miss Rabbit thought for a mont, "Queen Heloise, I wouldn’t have believed there was such a beautiful woman in the world had I not seen her. It’s said that Edward II even threatened the elves with war to have her."
"That’s right. She also has a great deanor... Hmm, I think I’m beginning to understand what you an. Are you suggesting that I should try imitating her?"
"Of course not," Adelle shook her head, "I’ve never t Queen Heloise, but from your description, I can roughly imagine what kind of person she is. However, you don’t need to learn from her because you also have your strengths."
"What are my strengths?"
"......"
Seeing her friend remain silent for a long ti, Miss Rabbit’s eyes turned wistful, "Are you just comforting after all?"
"No, no, I’m serious. When I’m with you, I can relax a lot, and my mood is always pleasant every day."
"So, my role is pretty much like a bowl of cread apples?"
The Lady was struck as if by lightning, her whole deanor one of utter dejection, "Although I’m quite wealthy compared to others, it seems rlin is even richer than ... it’s over... then surely I stand no chance."
"Actually, if you care so much about what the Prophet thinks of you, why not ask him directly?"
"Ask rlin?" Miss Rabbit shaked her head like a tambourine, "No, no, it would be so embarrassing to be rejected, and he always appears in my bedroom every ti he descends.
"So, you’re planning on keeping these feelings hidden forever?"
"Uh..."
"As far as I know, there are currently quite a few won surrounding the Prophet. Let’s not even talk about Clara; she’s a student of Prophet rlin, the lady from the Singleton Family is now serving as a guard for the Prophet.
"And then there’s Lady Shafu Li from the Wealth Association, a great beauty indeed, the mouse-controlling Greta, and soon that wild woman nad Iron Spear will also work around Prophet rlin once she learns the Universal Language of the Continent..."
Unaware until counted out, Adelle’s breakdown indeed instilled a sense of crisis in Miss Rabbit’s heart.
Although most of these people couldn’t compare to her in terms of status, the Lady knew Li Yu well enough to understand that the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect didn’t seem to put much emphasis on status.
Miss Rabbit reflected on that night’s conversation in the tent and felt sowhat flustered and frustrated.
What to do, should she try to test rlin’s intentions?
Hmm, just probing should be okay, right? The Lady looked at the white snow outside the carriage, her thoughts as tumultuous as the heavy snowfall.
Estimating the ti, Li Yu would be returning to Bratis tonight; Miss Rabbit decided to take a more proactive approach.
