Edward II finally approached Irelia, his smile no longer containable. Without saying a word, he extended his hand and patted Miss Rabbit’s shoulder.
Taking that pat was a big deal; it caused the Lady to stumble, nearly falling to the ground.
The Emperor was also a bit bewildered, apparently not expecting the tiny fra of the empire’s foremost warrior to be so fragile. However, he quickly found an excuse for the young girl.
"You’re injured, you were hurt in the recent battle. It’s not serious, is it? Do you want Misha to have another look at you?"
"Um... no need, I can heal myself." Miss Rabbit mumbled.
Edward II nodded and then laughed heartily, "I was right about you, Irelia. You did well, defeating that winged bastard. Do you rember what I told you before? Thirty thousand gold lions, plus Crab’s Corner, I’ll give it all to you."
As soon as he uttered these words, the other competitors cast envious and jealous glances at the Lady.
Their royal rewards were already quite substantial, but they seed like nothing compared to the young girl’s.
After all, that was Crab’s Corner, which brought in hundreds of thousands of gold coins in annual inco from sea trade alone.
And as if feeling that such a reward was still not enough, the Emperor winked at the Lady again.
"In addition, I have another great gift for you."
Far from being delighted, the girl felt a tightening in her heart upon hearing this.
Indeed, what was expected had finally co.
Edward II beckoned his third son over, "Co here, Allister, oh, and don’t forget to bring my wine cup. Today is a day worth celebrating; we should mark the occasion."
"Yes, my father." Allister took the golden wine cup from the wine pourer’s hand and ca down from the dais.
Miss Rabbit had previously heard so rumors about this Prince. He was said to be the youngest and most handso of all of Edward II’s sons.
He had short red hair, a faint stubble on his chin, and coupled with a robust physique and a sunny, cheerful smile, he was the dream lover of many girls in the Royal Capital.
The Lady had to admit that the Prince was indeed handso, and Edward II was really investing a lot to secure the new continent.
No, Allister’s succession rank was rather low compared with his two brothers. Becoming the lord of the new continent was also a good prospect for him. It seed that Edward II was quite fond of this son.
While Miss Rabbit was assessing the young Prince before her, Allister was equally curiously scrutinizing Irelia.
He had heard of the fa of this Lady about half a year ago. At that ti, the people in the Royal Capital generally believed that the empire’s fourth Female Knight should be robust, physique even more imposing than a man’s, and very strong.
But upon seeing her in person, while she was indeed strong, she didn’t look much different from other young girls. Not a beauty to bring kingdoms to their knees but still quite attractive.
The particularly long ears were sothing the third prince had never seen so animated before. He noticed that the Lady looked at him with so wariness, as if he were so villain.
"Are you pleased?" asked Edward II.
Allister smiled friendly at the girl, "Everything will be arranged by Your Majesty."
Edward II was quite satisfied with his answer. He took the wine cup from his hand and then said to the Lady.
"If it were just you alone, even if you obtained Crab’s Corner, it is estimated that it would be difficult to suppress those nobles of the new land. Those fellows are very old-fashioned and xenophobic, unwilling to be ruled by an outsider. Therefore, the last gift I am planning to give you is another person."
As Edward II said this, he took a sip of the wine in his cup, frowned a little, "With the help of this person, you will be able to have the legal reasoning to rule the new land, at least they can no longer call you an outsider."
The developnt of the situation was almost exactly as Li Yu had predicted, so the girl also spoke, "Thank you for your kind intentions, Your Majesty, but I’d rather not accept the person."
"Don’t be hasty in refusing," Edward II drained his cup in one gulp, "I know you are skilled in martial arts, but so things can’t be resolved just by martial arts alone."
Before the Lady could speak again the Emperor patted her shoulder, this ti much more gently, "Don’t rush, your martial arts skills will soon be of use again, actually not just yours, but all of yours."
Edward II then turned his gaze towards the other contestants, "So ti ago I received a divine revelation from the Life Goddess, warning of an imminent invasion."
The Emperor raised his voice a bit, "You see that fellow over there with wings on his back? They co from beyond the Bratis Continent and call themselves the Wing Tribe.
"Worshiping so evil deity, they ravage and plunder everywhere. This ti, they have set their sights on us, having previously sent agents to hide in our western regions, even bringing a dragon egg there and hatching a Black Dragon.
"You must know the rest, Sir Irelia slayed the Black Dragon and discovered those Wing Tribe spies hidden in the western regions.
"But the danger is not over, and there is more than one spy. According to the intelligence I’ve received, those Wing Tribe spies have been very active in our two neighboring countries recently.
"Many people have been bewitched by them and if we cannot eliminate these threats in advance, once those Wing Tribe marauders co for us, we’re likely to be very much on the defensive.
"So, I’ve decided to strike first," Edward II’s eyes were bright and intense, "to tell our neighbors which side they should stand on."
The Emperor’s words caused a huge uproar.
The Bratis Continent had been at peace for hundreds of years, and everyone had gradually beco accustod to this long-standing peace. No one expected that war would co so unexpectedly.
From the sounds of it, Edward II hoped to identify those among the Dwarves and Elves who were colluding with the Wing Tribe, to ensure that everyone could work together to repel the foreign enemy in the future.
Setting aside whether the collusion between these two countries and the Wing Tribe was true or false, the intelligence that the Wing Tribe planned to invade was itself questionable.
Although Moen’s displayed martial arts and flying abilities were both astonishing, and if his opponent were not Ireya but soone else, those present doubted their own ability to triumph over him.
But Moen was, after all, just one person. Even if you included that Gabriel, that made two. With so few hands, it’s unrealistic to think about invading a continent, and regarding others, there was no sign of them at this mont.
Edward II might be worrying unnecessarily, most people preferred to believe that the Emperor had ulterior motives and the supposed Wing Tribe invasion was just an excuse.
Edward II looked around, taking in everyone’s reactions and at the sa ti, a fierce fla lit within his chest. He was about to continue with the pre-war rallying.
But suddenly, he heard Allister beside him exclaim in shock, "Father, your eyes!"
Edward II touched his face with his hand and realized there was blood on his palm, and then his vision also started to blur.
Edward II’s expression went from confident to fearful, and he shouted with a hoarse voice, "Quick, go find the Priest of Cornelia to save..."
However, he could only get halfway through his sentence before his whole body collapsed forward.
