A month had quickly passed, and the harvest in Green Field was drawing to a close.
The farrs, who had been busy in the fields, could finally take a breather, wipe the sweat from their faces, and take a bath in the river, their faces brimming with joy.
It was an unquestionable bountiful harvest; the granary was filled with grains, and the surplus carrots could only be stored temporarily in Ireya’s cellar.
Among them, Li Yu and his subordinate lizard people reaped the greatest harvest.
Just a year ago, those lizard people were still barbarians who consud raw flesh and blood in the marshes, a nightmare for surrounding villages, not even knowing how to wield a hoe.
It was only after they were inspired by Saturday (at least that’s what the lizard people always insisted), bravely stepping out of the swamp and leaving their holand that sustained them.
They t Prophet rlin and eventually realized that Sosokus and Saturday were two sides of the sa coin, fully converted to the Double Rest Sect, and found a new ho on this land.
In just one year, they had completely transford, becoming pioneers in Green Field to adopt new farming tools and composting practices.
Li Yu reford them along the lines of a system similar to a people’s commune, which was characterized by a big collectivity and mutual public sharing.
Although in Li Yu’s dinsion, this basic unit of socialism eventually beca an obstacle to the developnt of productive forces due to various drawbacks it exposed and ultimately perished.
But that doesn’t an its rits should be completely negated.
At least in the early stages, such organizational units naturally have advantages in infrastructure construction and cultivating new farmland and embody the concentration of efforts for major tasks.
Moreover, the lizard people themselves had a primitive social structure, all living together as a large tribe, using collective strength to resist the risks brought about by harsh environnts while sharing ans of production.
This kind of organizational structure is a natural embryo of a people’s commune. If they were forcibly separated and private ownership was strongly promoted, it would make them uncomfortable.
So Li Yu just let nature take its course, as ti would increase productive forces, and their next generation and the one after that would gradually break away from the tribe.
This is the general law of social developnt; whether one wants to or not, it must be accepted.
Of course, all of this would happen much later. For now, the lizard people who had ventured out of the swamp were still physically strong, holding the power of discourse within their tribe, and were not yet clamoring for separation.
Besides, they had not let Li Yu down this ti, as the trial site for agricultural reform, the farmlands belonging to the territories of the Double Rest Sect had experienced an unprecedented bumper harvest!
The yield from the sa plot had doubled compared to before, with the seed-to-harvest ratio increased to 1:8, the magic of deep plowing and manure!
Not to ntion that the efficiency of sowing and harvesting had improved, one person could cultivate more land, and therefore harvest more grains, freeing up more hands to work in other areas.
When Li Yu received the preliminary statistical results, he also breathed a sigh of relief, despite always appearing calm and collected.
But after all, he wasn’t a student who had graduated with a degree in agronomy, he had no one to assist him in the beginning, and all the thods he knew to increase grain yield were found online and in books.
Yet, just having theory was far from enough; putting theory into practice was the real challenge.
In this process, Li Yu had taken many detours, not resting on his laurels for coming from a higher-tech civilization or being blindly confident. He also sought advice from many local farrs.
He studied the details with them and then ca back to flip through books for repeated verification before he ca up with the results he has today.
This bountiful harvest was extrely important to Li Yu. Obtaining enough food was secondary, after all, the Double Rest Sect now had money, and this year’s harvest in the western territories was generally good; worst case, they could just go out and buy it.
The real significance was that it proved the new farming tools and thods that the Double Rest Sect had been actively promoting were effective, and it completely eliminated any doubts other believers might have had.
Only then could Li Yu’s agricultural reform be considered a true success.
However, unlike others, he did not let victory cloud his judgnt, and he went on to inspect the progress of seed selection and breeding.
When he had first arrived in Green Field, he had entrusted Fosto to find four children for him, to teach them Arabic nurals, simple arithtic, and knowledge of statistics.
Apart from Hera who is now assisting Li Yu in managing the Double Rest Sect, the remaining three children, as per the original plan, were given tasks to go into the wild and the fields to select the finest seeds.
Those seeds were collected and planted, and then from those, more superior offspring were selected for cultivation...
This was the kind of work where one could hardly see instant results, but its significance went beyond the improvent of farming tools and piling up compost.
Because, on Earth today, almost all the foods you can na ca about this way, originating from so accidental mutation, their seeds were discovered and cultivated, followed by further mutations, and repeated mutations... until they evolved into what they are now.
Until they grew larger and larger, beca tastier, better suited to survive, and more resistant to disasters... especially the latter, potentially saving a civilization at a critical mont.
This was also why Li Yu, upon arriving here, imdiately started on this task.
Since he could not directly carry finished seed products for planar travel, he had to start from scratch; so, of course, the earlier the better.
By the ti he would have nearly exhausted the external ans to enhance yield, increased production would have to rely on the crop’s own evolution.
Now, the Double Rest Sect’s seed selection and breeding team had grown to eleven mbers. Although there was not yet any imdiate scientific achievents that could be put into application, Li Yu still rewarded each of them with five Divine Country points.
In the midst of these major events, a minor event seed less noticeable.
The first Servant of the Double Rest Sect, a full-stack engineer nad Columbus, whose sacred na was Niu Xiangui, had completed his three-month training and passed the final Universal Language exam of the Continent.
He had obtained his certificate, although it was only T4, and he would need to continue his exams to leave Green Field, but it also ant that he could start a new Chapter in his life.
Of course, this also ant that Niu Xiangui would now have to worry about his own food and lodging.
Fortunately, Niu Xiangui was not unfamiliar with these matters.
With his certificate in hand, he stepped out of the transmigrator’s apartnt, glanced at the sun outside, and felt as though he had returned to his post-college days.
Back then, he was still green, sowhat handso but not overly so, a little nervous about leaving campus, but now he had been through the wringer of society, his deanor was calm and collected, honed by the years.
And most importantly, he, Niu Xiangui, was now a Half-Beast!!!
Lu Weijia was quite envious because of this, nearly turning into a constant complainer like Xianglin’s wife, always going on about it with or without reason, lanting, "Why didn’t I roll into a robust man?" with as much woe as could be imagined in his expression.
