Hao Xiaoxiao’s expression was sowhat panicked, "I... I just wanted to check so information, and as for you, how did you know I used the laptop on the desk? I clearly observed that there’s no surveillance in this room, and I even blocked the laptop’s cara."
"It seems you might have underestimated your opponent," Li Yu tossed a pack of Dorayaki to Hao Xiaoxiao, "Miss Xu told you’ve been here for a while now, have sothing to eat first to fill your stomach."
Hao Xiaoxiao caught the Dorayaki but didn’t open it, "Even if I really did try to log into the company’s OA, it’s not a big deal, at worst I can apologize to the company’s boss."
"It’s not that simple," Li Yu said, "Tell what you know first."
"Why isn’t it simple? Does the boss here have a dark background, or so kind of powerful figure with a far-reaching influence?" Hao Xiaoxiao beca alert.
"You surely don’t think you’re going to do sothing to , right? I told several of my friends before coming here, and if I don’t return before it gets dark, they will go to the police station to report it."
"Things aren’t as you think," Li Yu said, "You aren’t in any personal danger, I can assure you of that." After a pause, he asked, "Is it because of money?"
"What?"
"I interviewed you, and although your resu looks quite colorful, you didn’t strike as soone who still wanted to cause trouble for no reason, soone who would co here out of the blue."
"I know about the issue you had with your first company, the decision to settle it privately, and the large debt that resulted, so did soone pay you to investigate Third Chronicle under the guise of applying for a job here?"
"No, I’m just cautious and wanted to know more about where I would be working," Hao Xiaoxiao still insisted.
"Even if you were to get the job smoothly, you wouldn’t be working here," Li Yu said.
"Ah..." Hao Xiaoxiao was at a loss for words. After a mont of silence, she asked again, "What exactly does this company do?"
"If you had completed the evaluation properly and successfully joined us, perhaps you would have gradually found out."
"You wouldn’t hire , no company wants ," laughed Hao Xiaoxiao self-deprecatingly, "I know my resu is a ss. Impulsive, reckless, arrogant, always causing trouble everywhere, and even betrayed a forr employer. Each item alone is enough to spell doom.
"Sadly, life can’t be restarted. Everyone always says don’t let your past define you, but in reality no matter what you do, people only focus on your past, because no one knows what the future holds, and they can only use what happened in the past to predict your future performance, you can never escape from your past."
Hao Xiaoxiao looked extrely dejected, shrinking into her seat.
"Maybe so," Li Yu said noncommittally, "but since I agreed to your interview, it ans I’m willing to give you a chance, which you shouldn’t just waste."
"Perhaps this is fate," Hao Xiaoxiao said expressionlessly.
"So you are indeed acting under soone’s orders. If it’s not for money, then what is it for?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about, I... I’ve been here for a long ti, I should leave. As long as you are willing to let go, I can promise I won’t co back to bother you or the company behind you."
Hao Xiaoxiao must have been really hungry by then; she unwrapped the Dorayaki in front of her and swallowed it down in a few bites.
Then she looked at the beverages on the table, pointing to the coffee, "If you’re not drinking it, may I have it?"
Hearing this, Li Yu pushed another bottle of yogurt over, "Drink less coffee, it’s not good for your health. Wait for a bit longer. I need to talk with Miss Xu, who’s in charge of personnel, and if there’s no problem, I’ll let you leave."
Hao Xiaoxiao nodded her head.
Li Yu left the remaining Dorayaki for her and then left the conference room with the coffee.
He arrived at Xu ngyuan’s office door. The HR lady had not closed the door, and was currently playing Go online on her computer.
"I just spoke with Hao Xiaoxiao, by the looks of it, she has no idea about the company or what we’re doing here."
"Mhm, that aligns with my judgnt too, I also believe she knows nothing about us."
"Then why did you want her to drink lethe water with side effects?"
Xu ngyuan looked at Li Yu with a half-smile.
Li Yu frowned, "So there isn’t actually any lethe water."
"We are a law-abiding company, of course, we wouldn’t do sothing like slipping things into other people’s drinks." Xu ngyuan said as she took the coffee from Li Yu’s hand and took a sip.
"Hmm, it’s a bit cold. I just wanted to put so pressure on you to see if you could find out sothing we don’t know."
Li Yu was speechless for a mont before he finally said, "Hao Xiaoxiao must have been instructed by soone, I never told her this address."
"Now that’s interesting," Xu ngyuan said, sipping her coffee, "Who could be interested in us?"
"You seem to have plenty of free ti, so why don’t you check it out slowly? Let Hao Xiaoxiao go first."
"Well... I have another suggestion." Xu ngyuan said, "How about you hire Hao Xiaoxiao? Have her stay in your project team, that way the company can gradually investigate and find out her mastermind."
"The recruitnt slot I have is already reserved for a candidate I prefer, and I don’t want to introduce such an unstable factor into my project team." Li Yu stated without hesitation.
"Don’t be so quick to refuse. I can try to apply to the board on your behalf, considering you are cooperating with the company’s investigation. You might go through a special recruitnt channel, so Hao Xiaoxiao won’t take up your previous slot, and you’ll get an extra pair of hands for work.
"As for instability, you have nothing to worry about, I’ll take responsibility for that part," said Miss HR. "Just treat her as a regular employee, and I’ll handle issues outside of her work."
Li Yu thought for a while, "It’s too much hassle, think of another way to investigate."
"What if I could get you another recruitnt slot as a token of gratitude for your help?"
"Three slots?"
"That’s right, three recruitnt slots," Xu ngyuan confird, raising three fingers and waving them in front of Li Yu.
Li Yu didn’t hurry to answer but instead asked, "It seems like you’re set on keeping her here. Have you already guessed who’s behind her?"
"A little bit, don’t worry, keeping Hao Xiaoxiao won’t bring any danger to you or the other mbers of the project team."
"I should ask for another slot."
"Three is already a lot, being too greedy isn’t good."
"Then three it is," Li Yu finally agreed, as he knew that as the faith points increased later on, the business of the Rebirth Bell would definitely grow as well.
Bringing talents with various professional knowledge to Green Field would undoubtedly greatly accelerate the developnt of the Double Rest Sect, and by then, they would certainly need quite a few hands here to conduct background checks.
Plus, with more employees, everyone’s workload would certainly not be as overwhelming and they wouldn’t have to work as hard.
After weighing the pros and cons, Li Yu agreed, and the next step was to convince Hao Xiaoxiao.
Hao Xiaoxiao didn’t expect such an unexpected windfall, and she hesitated, always suspecting there might be a trap.
After all, she hadn’t participated in the assessnts, and then she had caused such a commotion. It was one thing for Li Yu not to send her away, but another altogether for him to offer her a job on top of that.
"Haven’t you always said you wanted to escape your past? Now is your best chance," Li Yu said. "Or do you plan to keep going back to KFC to work part-ti?"
