Ma Yuhan was led by Zhang Yanlin to the door of an office on the second floor.

Zhang Yanlin lightly knocked on the door twice, and a man’s voice ca from inside, "Co in."

Zhang Yanlin placed his hand on the doorknob, and seeing Ma Yuhan looking sowhat nervous, encouraged him further, "Relax, the boss is a really nice guy."

Upon hearing this, Ma Yuhan managed to squeeze out a smile.

"Good luck with your interview." After saying that, Zhang Yanlin pushed open the door in front of him, allowing Ma Yuhan to enter.

anwhile, downstairs, so of the other candidates were also trying to make connections.

The last man to enter, limping, pulled out a pack of Lanzhou cigarettes, opened the stiff cardboard top, and offered it to a man with a buzz cut nearby, "Want one, little brother?"

The latter hesitated a bit, but eventually declined.

So, the limping man took one out for himself, put it in his mouth, "By the way, what did you do before this?"

"How is that any of your business?" the man with the buzz cut retorted with a wary look.

"No business, just making conversation," the limping man replied, pulling a lighter from his pocket. "I feel I definitely have no chance. The company is called sothing-sothing Cultural Broadcasting, but I have no cultural background, just an associate’s degree, and a bad leg; I definitely can’t get in."

Hearing this, the buzz cut softened his gaze, but still said, "That might not be true. I heard that companies get subsidies for employing disabled people."

"The boss of this place obviously runs a big business. He certainly won’t care about such a small amount of money," the limping man lit his cigarette.

"So what if you have a high degree? I’ve seen too many idiots who’ve read their brains out. Being capable of handling affairs beautifully is what counts," a young man with the character for loyalty tattooed on his neck interjected, "Gold will always shine."

"True, gold does shine, but as more and more people are looking for jobs, companies don’t have the ti to check one by one if you really have the skills. They simply use academic qualifications to filter out so people first, and then slowly choose from the remaining ones. They can always find soone who can do the work," the limping man said, puffing out clouds of smoke while giving his unsolicited advice.

The young man with the tattoo on his neck changed his expression slightly.

"Also..." the limping man looked over at another woman sitting in the corner, who had not spoken since she ca in and was just sitting there quietly, "there are a lot of tricks in recruitnt, sotis just putting on a show for the boss."

"What do you an?" the young man with the tattoo was startled.

"It ans that the final candidate is often pre-decided before the recruitnt starts, and everyone else is just there to run alongside, ensuring the process has no issues."

"Are you implying sothing?" the woman in the corner finally spoke up.

"Not at all, not at all, just talking. Don’t take it too seriously," the limping man paused before adding, "But since we’re on the subject, I do recall sothing. You and Miss Zhang, the person in charge of hiring, knew each other before, didn’t you?"

"Why would you conclude that?"

"Although you didn’t speak to each other, when you first ca in, there seed to be quite a bit of eye contact."

"Eye contact?" The woman in the corner, expressionless, responded, "Uncle, what is your profession, with so much drama in your heart."

"? I’ve had many jobs before, security guard, auxiliary police, driver, I’ve been a wedding MC and an extra after my leg beca la, and even a street vendor..."

"Really? Then you have a lot of work experience!" the young man with the tattoo exclaid.

"Those are all jobs that don’t require much skill," the limping man waved his hand dismissively, exhaling a puff of white smoke. Though his words were humble, there was a trace of pride in his expression.

"Brother, since you’re so good at observing, do you know what I do for a living?" the man with the buzz cut suddenly spoke up.

"Looking at you, bro, if my guess isn’t wrong, you must have just been released..." the limping man hadn’t finished speaking when a voice ca from above.

"Put out the cigarette; smoking isn’t allowed here." Zhang Yanlin ca downstairs and pointed at the no-smoking sign by the door.

"Sorry, my apologies." The limping man quickly spat the cigarette out of his mouth, looked around, but couldn’t find an ashtray, and finally had to pinch out the cigarette with two fingers and stuffed the small remaining butt into his pocket.

"Liu Yuchen, get ready, it’s almost your turn."

Zhang Yanlin then told the middle-aged man wearing a cap and grey trench coat, who nodded.

A while later, Ma Yuhan ca down from the second floor with confusion in his eyes; he hastily walked out the door without greeting the other candidates.

"Does this an he was eliminated?"

After Liu Yuchen followed Zhang Yanlin upstairs, the limping man spoke again.

"Doesn’t that an we have one less competitor?" the young man with the character "loyalty" tattooed on his neck said happily, though he soon glanced worriedly at the woman sitting in a corner.

Ma Yuhan had stayed upstairs for nearly twenty minutes, and Liu Yuchen who followed took almost the sa amount of ti, but unlike Ma Yuhan, his expression revealed a hint of excitent when he ca down.

He, too, did not linger and left straight away.

The young man with the tattoo felt confused and asked the limping man, "Was he also eliminated?"

"Doesn’t seem like it, probably got along pretty well with the boss. We’ll have to step up our ga," said the limping man seriously. "The first impression with the boss is most important. Hmm, let think of so other impressive introduction."

After saying that, he started to contemplate deeply.

The man with the buzz cut was the third to go up, and he ca down without saying a word, just gave a deep look at the limping man, and pushed open the door.

After him was the young man with the tattoo on his neck.

The reticent woman in the corner was the second last to be interviewed. When Zhang Yanlin called her na, she stood up from the sofa and took a sip of water from her paper cup.

She set down the water cup and followed Zhang Yanlin upstairs.

"Good luck." Zhang Yanlin gestured with a clenched fist.

The reticent woman nodded slightly, took a deep breath, and walked into the office.

"Please sit down," Li Yu said as he flipped through the docunts in his hand.

The fifth interviewee of the day was nad Hao Xiaoxiao, 24 years old, specialized in computer science, but was expelled in her junior year for organizing cheating, then started as a technology consultant in a small company.

After a year, the company called the police, but whatever agreent they reached privately, the complaint was withdrawn shortly after. Hao Xiaoxiao went to work at another place but didn’t last long there either and was fired once more.

Now, she works as a waitress at KFC during the day and helps a studio with "gold farming" and leveling up accounts at night.

Li Yu put down the docunts he was holding and looked at Hao Xiaoxiao sitting across from him.

Her appearance wasn’t particularly striking, pretty much on the level of an ordinary person; she was quite tall, probably just over five foot seven, with a slender build, wearing a gray jacket.
