After four utterances of "fuck," Niu Xiangui slowly began to regain his ability to think.
For him, the mories had stopped the mont his heartbeat ceased.
At that ti, despite his fear, Niu Xiangui felt more relief, as he had been tornted by illness for a long ti, and his daily quality of life was terrible.
This reminded Niu Xiangui of his old father, who also suffered greatly from illness at the end of his treatnt. He wanted to give up several tis, but Niu Xiangui, as the son, couldn’t bear it. He kept seeking specialists and buying imported dicines, eventually extending his father’s life by two more months.
But looking back now, his father had spent those two months lying in bed, unable to care for himself, enjoying no pleasures, and living each day in great pain.
So when it was his turn, Niu Xiangui gave up quite quickly.
Of course, this had a lot to do with his encounter with Li Yu and the trick Li Yu showed in the ICU.
However, having been deeply influenced by materialism since childhood, Niu Xiangui was still full of skepticism about Li Yu’s promise.
In his last few days, he lay in his hospital bed, pondering how Li Yu perford that magic as a way to fight the pain.
As it turned out, he died before he could figure it out.
Niu Xiangui had no mory of what happened afterward. When he next opened his eyes, he was here.
The muscles on his body made him sowhat scared, and the stone platform underneath was a bit cold on his butt. Of course, what made him most uneasy was the dense crowd in the distance.
Those people looked at him with frenzied eyes, so bowed down to him in worship, and many were rushing to make the number six gesture with their hands.
What’s this, a national rock-paper-scissors ga?
Niu Xiangui was completely baffled. He felt he must have transmigrated into that sort of dieval universe Li Yu had ntioned.
But after noticing the seven flashlights nearby, he started to have doubts again, wondering if he was on a dieval movie set instead.
And it probably wasn’t a Hollywood set since those people babbled a lot, and he couldn’t understand a word, definitely not English.
But considering the number of people acting, it seed like a big production.
Niu Xiangui was still figuring out what he should do next. Should he first ask who can speak English, borrow a computer, and look up the current year and month, or pretend he’s gone mad too and join the others in making the number six gesture, blending in without a second thought?
Hmm, each option had its pros and cons. To be cautious, it might be better to choose the latter, especially since he had noticed a growing trend of similar plots in web novels, where the protagonists seed to do just that.
The thought of becoming a protagonist himself made Niu Xiangui laugh.
Nice, not only had he scored a new identity, but he had also started as a strong man. It would be hard for him not to soar.
Then he heard soone calling his na from behind.
"Niu Xiangui."
"Hmm, who’s calling ? No, wait, who’s Niu Xiangui?"
Li Yu hadn’t expected this programr to be so cautious, knowing he should lie low upon arriving in a strange place and get a feel for the situation.
But Li Yu didn’t let him continue acting, and said directly, "Alright, it’s ."
At this point, Niu Xiangui also turned his head to see Li Yu, dressed in a suit and completely out of place among the others. His eyes widened in shock and delight.
"Mr. Li, is that you?"
"Call Prophet rlin, everyone here does," Li Yu said.
"Sure sure sure sure," Niu Xiangui said four tis in a row, excitedly, and then gave a thumbs up, "Prophet rlin, you truly are a man of your word. You said you’d let reincarnate, and you did—and for free, too. That’s aweso!"
After a pause, Niu Xiangui asked, "Do you plan to have save the world or defeat the Demon King, the Evil Dragon, or sothing? Uh... do I get any sort of Golden Finger to help out? Like an attribute panel, Reincarnation Space, Lottery System, hehehe..."
"No, you rember the contract we signed before, right? I brought you here to work for the Double Rest Sect," Li Yu replied.
Niu Xiangui slapped his thigh, "Look at my mory, right right right, I’m here to work."
After saying that, he sneakily glanced at Li Yu, "But aside from working, don’t you need to do sothing else... I feel like I’m pretty strong right now."
"Half-Beasts indeed have stronger bodies than the average human, but you don’t know swordsmanship, so you can’t make the most of this body’s strength. On the bright side, your lifespan is much longer—living to two or three hundred years old should be no problem," Li Yu said.
"Don’t get ahead of yourself. I have hundreds of subordinates with strength like yours, and you’re not the only transmigrator. If it works out well, I might call more people over," Li Yu said.
Li Yu thought Niu Xiangui would be sowhat disappointed with his response, but to his surprise, Niu Xiangui was only montarily disheartened and quickly perked up again.
"The more the rrier, right? It’d be too lonely by myself here. Plus, since I ca the earliest, that makes one of those legendary closed beta players, right? That’s the biggest Golden Finger there is!"
"Right, let’s finish up the ceremony first. Later, I’ll have soone take you to your living quarters. You have three months to learn the Universal Language here."
"What if I can’t learn it within three months?" Niu Xiangui asked nervously, apprehensive that Li Yu might do sothing drastic like erasing him, as a main deity might in the novels.
However, Li Yu simply said, "Then you’ll have to pay tuition. Think of these three months as your job training. After that, you’ll have to support yourself through your work."
"No problem, no problem, I’ll definitely study hard," Niu Xiangui sighed with relief.
Then he saw Li Yu looking at him, "Take off your clothes."
"What?" Niu Xiangui was stunned, doubting his ears.
"Take off your clothes," Li Yu pointed to the wooden tub next to them, "Next cos the purification part. Your original body belonged to a convict, and there are quite a number of people on this land who bear him grudges. A purification ceremony ans cutting ties with the past.
You can then start a new life in this body, and the soul of the deceased won’t bother you anymore."
Hearing that the original owner’s soul might haunt him scared Niu Xiangui once again.
But having undergone reincarnation, he now totally trusted Li Yu’s words; thus he braced himself, "Okay, I’ll strip!"
He then stripped himself bare in front of thousands of people.
"..."
"You didn’t need to strip down quite that thoroughly," Li Yu’s words ca a step too late, for Niu Xiangui was already stark naked.
And while undressing, he noticed that his pants had been stained with plenty of filth and there was no going back in them now.
Li Yu could only tell him to hurry and get into the wooden tub filled with water. Then he stepped forward, pushed his head underwater, and raised his voice.
"Heroic spirits of different worlds, by the authority of my principal day, Saturday, I hereby grant you rebirth, washing away all the filth and sins of the body’s original owner. From now on, you may walk the earth in this form."
