"No one can cure ," Golden Eyes shook his head. "The Church has used this dicine for thousands of years... People have tried all thods before, but in the end, they all failed without exception."
"But Prophet rlin hadn’t even arrived in Bratis back then," Clara said. "And he has the support of the great Saturday, whose Divine dicine has already saved many people deed beyond saving. Besides, Prophet rlin even outshone the Priests of the Silver Moon Church in dicine."
"rlin won’t save ," Golden Eyes said. "I tried to kidnap him before, though unsuccessfully, and now I’ve kidnapped you... I’ve made an enemy of the Double Rest Sect, and there’s no turning back."
"rlin isn’t as petty as you think. He once said that one’s montary misguidance doesn’t an they will be lost forever," the little maid said. "It’s not too late to turn back now, you can take back, and I can help plead for you."
"It’s too late," Golden Eyes said. "I’m already out of dications; I must deliver you to that person within three days to get the next dose, or you’ll see what happens to my body."
Perhaps due to Golden Eyes’ previous caution, they encountered no pursuers in the next two days.
The two smoothly arrived at Iron Horn City, located in the northeastern part of the Western Territory.
Iron Horn City is on the lands owned by the Montsen family, who are also mighty Nobles of the Western lands, second only to the Figrola and Immanuel families.
Mainly dealing in ironware, Iron Horn City has the most blacksmiths in the entire Western lands. Although their weapons and armor aren’t as good as those made by the Dwarves, they offer a variety in grades and prices.
Even those tight on money can find armor in this town that they can afford.
Previously, most of the Arias family’s equipnt and weapons were forged here. After acquiring wealth, Ireya placed an order through the Golden Fleece Comrce for three hundred sets of armor and five hundred iron swords in one go.
It couldn’t be helped; those Dwarves demanded too high a price, but Iron Horn City offered value for money.
The Montsen family had always given an impression of being low-key among the Western lords; they almost never got involved in conflicts or formations of groups, focusing solely on selling their ironware.
This also gave them a good reputation, both among the higher circles and ordinary people.
For Clara, it was the first ti leaving Green Field. Since her childhood spent in Teacup Castle, the grand and majestic castle of the Arias family remained the most flourishing place in her mind.
It was not until she followed Li Yu to the territory of the Double Rest Sect and saw it grow from nothing to a vibrant place; they were almost done building the hall when she left.
However, given the short developnt ti of the Double Rest Sect and its small size, it still couldn’t compare to a real town.
Having left Green Field, the little maid found curiosity in everything, and upon arriving in Iron Horn City, her eyes barely managed to take it all in.
Golden Eyes had to remind her to be a bit more discreet since she was technically still kidnapped.
Hearing this, Clara pulled her head back then asked Golden Eyes, "Why is this place called Iron Horn City?"
"Because the warriors of the Monten family wear iron Bull Horn Helts," Golden Eyes replied. "They nad the town after these iron horns when they established it."
As they talked, a squad of guards wearing Bull Horn Helts passed right before their eyes.
Like everyone else, Golden Eyes and Clara stepped aside to give way, then headed to the Bad Temper Tavern. Golden Eyes tossed three black iron coins onto a table.
The next mont, a Maid picked up the coins, nodding at Golden Eyes.
Golden Eyes turned and said to Clara, "Wait for a carriage engraved with a cross on its revolver to arrive at the tavern’s entrance. You just need to get on, and it will take you where you need to go."
"What about you?" the little maid asked reflexively.
"I am only accompanying you this far," Golden Eyes paused, then added, "If you want to survive, cooperate fully with that lord. Answer whatever he asks, do not lie, and do not displease him."
"But rlin once said that the truth is the most hurtful of all."
Golden Eyes acted as if he hadn’t heard her and continued, "Do you know why this tavern is called Bad Temper?"
"Hmm?"
"Because its previous owner had a bad temper, yet the wine he sold was delicious. People endured his bad temper just to drink the delightful wine, but the owner often lost his temper and would close the doors for business unexpectedly."
Clara did not understand why Golden Eyes had suddenly started talking about the tavern, but she listened patiently nonetheless.
"Eventually, he crossed paths with a powerful noble who had co to taste the wine. Since then, no one has seen the previous owner of Bad Temper. A new owner took over the tavern.
"He honestly conducted business, greeted every custor with a smile, and stopped closing the tavern unexpectedly; his wine was exactly like that of the previous owner.
"But gradually, people started to feel that the wine wasn’t as good as before, similar to what other taverns were selling, so the business here dwindled and beca what it is now."
After listening, the little maid showed a thoughtful look, "Are you hinting at how I should act next?"
"No, I was just telling you the history of this tavern," Golden Eyes said lightly.
At that mont, the sounds of horse hooves and carriage wheels rolling over the ground ca from outside the tavern.
After leaving the Bad Temper Tavern, the little maid saw a carriage with a cross carved on the wheels.
She turned back to look at Golden Eyes, who gestured for her to go ahead, and the next mont the carriage door was opened from the inside. Clara got in.
Once the carriage door was shut, Clara asked the stern-looking old woman sitting across from her, "Is it you who wanted to see ?"
"No, I am only here to take you to your residence and be responsible for your daily necessities," the woman responded. "You may call Nema, Madam."
"There’s no need for that, I can take care of my own affairs; I have been doing it myself before," the little maid said.
However, Nema showed no reaction.
Clara then asked, "Where are we going now?"
"To your residence."
"And the person who wants to et ?"
"The lord is busy at the mont, he will et you when he finds the ti," Nema answered succinctly, "Without my permission, you are not to leave your residence."
The little maid discerned the commanding tone in her voice, allowing no room for negotiation, so she nodded her head.
Nema seed sowhat satisfied with her response and her expression softened a bit, "You don’t need to worry about being bored; the lord has made arrangents for a companion for you, who will arrive in a few days."
