Li Yu found a shady spot and waited patiently until there were hardly any people coming in or out before he quickly stepped forward and swiped through the access control.
Taking advantage of the mont before the security guard could get a clear look, he had already slipped in and stepped back into the darkness.
But he hadn’t gone far when he heard a series of rapid footsteps coming from behind him.
Li Yu thought it was the security guard who had spotted sothing and was chasing after him.
But when he turned around, he found it was the middle-school girl who had been hanging behind him, keeping a not-too-close, not-too-far distance.
"Uncle, you’re going to take revenge, aren’t you?"
"Hm?"
"You’re a ghost now, so you should be able to beat Wang Kai and Song Xiaofei."
"I could have taken them on even before, as long as they didn’t pull a knife at the end," Li Yu paused and then added, "Wang Kai, Song Xiaofei, are those the nas of those two ruffians?"
The middle-school girl nodded.
"Do you know where they live, along with that boy nad Wang Jiaqi?"
She nodded again, her eyes shimring with veiled excitent, "Do you want to lead the way?"
"Don’t rush. I’m definitely going to seek revenge, but let’s let them stew in fear for a few days first," Li Yu said.
He had originally just wanted to beat those two guys up tonight, not only to save that high school student, but also because Li Yu had already taken a dislike to the pair long ago.
But the previous him would indeed not have tangled with these small-ti delinquents.
Because these guys were like excrent.
Once you step in it, win or lose, you’re definitely first going to end up with a shoe full of it.
As a corporate drone, Li Yu had too much work to do on a regular basis to have the energy to tangle with crap. Furthermore, these guys were ruthless, as though a fit of rage could lead them to do sothing that would make both the victim and themselves regret it for life.
However, things were different now.
Gradually accepting that he now possessed an immortal body, Li Yu felt as if his life had unlocked a new version, where many of the things that had previously constrained him had now disappeared.
For example, Li Yu just realized he could now step in excrent for fun.
Even though he ended up with several knife wounds in the end, it was the most satisfying fight Li Yu had ever had from childhood to adulthood. He barely defended himself throughout, since if he suffered too severe an injury, he could just commit suicide and restart.
On the other hand, each punch he threw caused real, solid damage. Broken noses required surgery to fix, and fractured ribs had to be properly set, so he just went all out.
And Li Yu also recorded a video tonight. He had initially only intended to prove it was those two ruffians who had attacked first, so he wouldn’t have to deal with the police if they later pretended to be the victims.
But unexpectedly, he ended up recording the entire process of being stabbed to death.
Of course, that material couldn’t be handed over to the police to convict Wang Kai and Song Xiaofei, especially since Li Yu couldn’t explain why he was still alive and kicking.
But cutting out the part where he got stabbed and using it to blackmail those two seed pretty good.
Li Yu didn’t want money; he just wanted them to know if he heard of them doing evil again, he would give them a beating. With this video in hand, they would probably dare not call the police.
In this way, Li Yu figured he had contributed to the community and the country.
The middle-school girl was a bit disappointed to hear that Li Yu did not intend to seek imdiate revenge on the two n, but she nodded in agreent nonetheless.
Afterwards, perhaps noticing that Li Yu hadn’t manifested any ghostly behavior, she grew a bit bolder. She no longer kept her distance but instead took the initiative to help Li Yu scout the buildings.
She would only call him in when there was no one around. Since Li Yu was covered in bloodstains, he couldn’t take the elevator and had to climb the stairs, with the middle-school girl continuing to follow behind him.
Li Yu turned his head to look at her, "How long have you been wandering around outside? Aren’t you going to go ho and do your howork?"
"The teacher knows about my family’s situation and won’t bother ," the junior high school girl said.
"What’s going on with your family?"
"My dad abandoned to live in another city with his mistress, and they’ve had another daughter," she said, curling her lip in disdain.
"What about your mom?"
"Playing cards. Otherwise, why do you think I’m not ho at this hour? Because she and her card buddies have taken over the place."
"Alright, what’s your na?"
"An Yixin. What about you, mister?"
"Li Yu."
"Let’s exchange numbers, Uncle Li." An Yixin took out her phone again, as if she feared Li Yu would vanish from her sight the next mont.
"Sure," Li Yu nodded.
After they exchanged numbers, Li Yu noted the floor number and stopped, allowing An Yixin to catch her breath.
An Yixin, supporting her knees, sneaked a peek at Li Yu and then tentatively asked, "Uncle, if I have nowhere else to go, can I co to your house?"
"No," Li Yu rejected her outright.
An Yixin simply acknowledged with an ’oh’ and didn’t press Li Yu further on the matter.
When they reached the 13th floor, Li Yu didn’t imdiately leave the stairwell. Instead, he turned to An Yixin and asked, "Did you steal because you had no money for food?"
"No," An Yixin shook her head, "My mom sends money for takeout. I steal just to save up for my favorite singer’s new release."
"......"
"Don’t steal anymore."
"Why should I listen to you? You’re not my dad," the junior high school girl retorted, looking up defiantly.
"Because your actions cause trouble for others."
"I only stole a bar of chocolate."
"But you admitted to stealing. Theft is wrong in itself."
"When you’re at work, don’t you ever slack off? Your boss has paid for your ti as well, so aren’t you also stealing so ti back from him? And when the company demands you to work 996, going beyond labor law limits, aren’t they stealing your ti too?
In terms of value, that’s way more than this piece of chocolate in my hand. What about the stock market manipulators and speculators who are stealing money from retail investors, and inflation is essentially the state stealing money from everyone."
"Who taught you all this..."
"Uncle Han, one of my mom’s card buddies."
"Your mom’s card buddies are indeed a force to be reckoned with. But you still have to return the chocolate tomorrow," Li Yu brought up the subject again.
"Why should I?" An Yixin challenged, "The essence of this society is the strong taking everything from the weak. Wang Jiaqi is bullied because he’s too weak. I refuse to end up like him."
However, Li Yu’s next statent left her speechless, "No so many whys. You lost a bet to ."
Having said that, Li Yu no longer paid attention to An Yixin’s reaction and walked straight into the hallway.
After returning ho, he took a shower first, washing off the stench of garbage and blood, and then threw his almost entirely blood-stained shirt and suit into the washing machine.
Li Yu opened the fridge and took out a bottle of coconut juice, then just sat on the sofa with his upper body bare, continuing to browse through "Crusade History," the book he had bought last week.
