That night, the shadow of death brought by White Night enveloped the entire town of White Night.
The outer army, which originally had a chance to escape by logging off, lost their opportunity due to attacks from nearby beasts that arrived belatedly.
Players trapped in the legendary Bone Domain spell died repeatedly, only to be resurrected as undead. This was the horror of the Undead Scourge—grinding down the enemy's living forces and turning them into fearless warriors for their own side.
Even the four commanders present, renowned figures among countless civilizations, couldn't help but curse inwardly: "How are we supposed to fight such an unfair battle?"
The roars of beasts and the panicked cries of fleeing players gradually quieted as the night deepened.
At dawn, when the last player's health bar was emptied, the final scene they witnessed was the distant White Night Town standing silently, devoid of any NPCs. Beyond the town, an "ocean" of undead creatures stretched endlessly, their eyes glowing with eerie green soul flas.
Countless undead ford an army unlike anything ever seen in this world. Among them were monsters and beasts, but most were forr players—silent, uncanny, and powerful, loyally guarding the black-robed monarch at their center. It was a sight that left all witnesses with a mory they would never forget.
Many players who had died earlier had already awakened in the real world, recovering from the damage to their ntal states.
Although the Stellar Alliance's operation had been intended to probe White Night's true strength, even their worst-case scenario predictions had not anticipated such a disastrous outco.
"Confird—the last warrior has fallen in the ga. Ergency Protocol D5 has completely failed... I hereby declare Operation A1332 against White Night and White Night Town a failure."
After a pause, the spokesperson from the think tank continued, "Casualty report... total annihilation."
Silence fell over the Stellar Alliance council seats, the operation commanders, high-ranking intelligence officials from various civilizations, and even the think tank mbers themselves.
Total annihilation—even during the "Roy City Incident," where NPC towns were attacked, not all participating players had been wiped out.
Back then, the casualties had involved untrained tourist accounts, yet now, even fully trained players—whether they had undergone their second class advancent or not—were instantly obliterated before the Undead Scourge.
"Intelligence assessnt: White Night possesses the power of a one-man army. Class information unknown. Specific details can be found in Action Report W3. Strength assessnt: At minimum, they have completed their third class advancent in-ga, with a level exceeding 65..."
Even this conservative estimate surpassed Ye Bai's actual level, as the Stellar Alliance only knew of legendary-tier equipnt in "Infinite Worlds," unaware of the existence of mythical-tier gear.
In a normally managed version of Infinite Worlds, such unique mythical equipnt would never have ended up in a player's hands.
This operation had yielded much intelligence about White Night, but the implications behind this information only raised more questions and challenges for the Stellar Alliance.
...
In the ga, dawn gradually broke, and the flickering flas in the eyes of the undead army began to dim.
From a military standpoint, the undead were formidable, but without special enhancents, most undead creatures suffered continuous burning damage under sunlight, their strength further restricted. Conversely, they gained power in darkness.
This was precisely why Ye Bai had proactively upgraded her territory, drawing the Stellar Alliance into battle.
Not only did it secure the initiative in combat, but it also compensated for the undead army's weakened dayti performance. Night was their domain. Combined with the monsters drawn by the territory upgrade, the information gap regarding her strength among the player army, and the wild beasts preventing retreat—all these factors culminated in a miraculous, resounding victory.
After confirming that she had annihilated the entire player force, Ye Bai willed the To of Death to flip, canceling the Undead Servitude spell.
Soul energy surged back into the to, and the undead army's soul flas flickered out like extinguished candles.
"Clatter…"
Bodies devoid of soul flas collapsed. Ye Bai unequipped the To of Death, her skin regaining its color as her senses of sll and taste returned. The world before her eyes once again brimd with vibrancy.
"Phew..."
Ye Bai exhaled. Transforming into an Undead Monarch granted imnse power, but the sensory deprivation was sothing she could never get used to.
As she stowed away the terrifying artifact, Autofis sensed the change and turned to sniff her, its expression seeming to say, "That's more like it." "Hee-haw..."
Ye Bai chuckled and fed it a piece of bread.
The undead were the natural antithesis of all living beings, even more reviled than infernal creatures—at least the latter had cults worshipping them, whereas the undead inspired no such devotion.
While in her undead form, all of Ye Bai's identities vanished. She beca a being feared by all, unrecognizable even to the residents of White Night Town, who would have attacked her as a monster.
Thankfully, Autofis and Paperman could still identify her—proof of their divine origins.
This was also why Ye Bai had ordered all her townsfolk to stay indoors. Otherwise, she could have deployed her own soldiers to gain experience and level up.
Now that the battle was over, the fallen reverted to corpses, and the normal aftermath of death unfolded.
Countless players' deaths manifested as bursts of white light, flooding Ye Bai's vision with a brief, blinding whiteness.
When her sight returned, the corpses of monsters and beasts remained, but where the players had fallen, a dazzling array of colorful lights now shimred.
Thanks to the Assassin's Robe effect, every piece of equipnt, every item from their inventories, and every last copper coin on the player army had been forcibly dropped—an absolute, thorough loot splosion.
But this wasn't the end.
As the first rays of morning sunlight bathed the land, a long-absent server-wide announcent resounded:
[Congratulations to White Night City for becoming the first player territory to upgrade to a city!]
Following closely were a series of personal notifications for Ye Bai:
[You have achieved the feat: First City]
[You have received the feat reward: Philosopher's Stone ×1]
[You have obtained the unique title: First City Lord]
White Night Town was now renad White Night City—the first player city in Infinite Worlds.
...
The Stellar Alliance's post-operation debriefing was still ongoing when they received the latest update from the ga.
"A new report—White Night Town didn’t just upgrade from a fifth-tier territory to sixth-tier; it jumped two levels in a row. It should now be called White Night City…"
The eting once again fell into prolonged silence.
After a long pause, the think tank resud delivering the remaining details. Then, all participants in the post-battle conference began casting their votes.
Each attendee had a different voting weight based on their status—a system the Stellar Alliance had followed for the past two millennia.
"Regarding future strategies for White Night Town…"
"According to the vote, F23 Protocol will be enacted: A-level military confidentiality agreents and compensation will be distributed to all operatives involved. The External Affairs Departnt will deny any connection between this covert operation and the Stellar Alliance…"
Faced with a result even more devastating than the Roy City incident, the Stellar Alliance made its decision—to compromise. More precisely, to swallow the loss and pretend nothing had happened.
The Stellar Alliance had vast resources, of course, and could mobilize far greater forces if truly determined. They could even deploy their main army, spending massive amounts of in-ga currency to teleport into the Blue Star server for battle.
But the current losses on the Blue Star server were within acceptable limits. The cost of mobilizing their main force—and the potential consequences of another failure—would deal a crippling blow.
After all, this operation had already exhausted the Stellar Alliance’s available strength on the Blue Star server, yet they still hadn’t uncovered the full extent of White Night’s capabilities.
War is driven by economics; politics is built on compromise.
The Infinite Realm had provided a new stage for countless civilizations to compete, and the stakes within the ga grew ever higher. Amid internal factional struggles and inter-civilization rivalry, the votes ultimately led to this outco.
Around the sa ti, in the Illusory Sea civilization…
Moke, as the first handler of the incident, received a ssage from the Illusory Sea Queen, who had attended the post-battle eting.
The Stellar Alliance chose to compromise… Moke mulled over the news with mixed feelings. As the head of covert intelligence, he had the unsettling sense that he’d brushed against the truth—only to let it slip away.
But he understood the reasoning.
Previously, the Stellar Alliance had feared that White Night might be an A-level psychic with ties to the Chaotic Star Sea. Now, based on the in-ga results, whether White Night was Ye Bai or not, her current strength was likely not far from what the Stellar Alliance had once speculated.
…
"Dong—dong—dong—"
The territory’s great bell tolled, its resonant chis drawing the attention of every citizen.
"Thud!"
Felix jolted awake, banging his head against the door in his haste.
He’d been on edge all night. The mont he’d heard distant sounds of approaching creatures, he’d wanted to rush out and fight—only to be held back by Blaze. The noises had faded into the distance, growing indistinct before silence finally settled in. He must’ve dozed off at so point without realizing.
Rubbing his head instinctively, Felix snapped back to awareness and imdiately pushed the door open, stepping outside.
The streets were alive with residents, their cheerful chatter filling the air as they erged with bright smiles, celebrating in high spirits.
Felix instinctively sprinted toward the city gates. Along the way, he spotted the Lord surrounded by Carrie, Dilina, and Blaze.
My Lord!
Felix ran over, burning with curiosity about last night’s events. Blaze noticed him and said, "Perfect timing. Co help haul the loot."
"Loot?"
“Go on,” the lord gave him an encouraging smile before turning back to give the others instructions and heading toward the Tree of Genesis.
Still confused, Felix followed Blaze out of the city gates—only to see a wagon pulled by horned horses approaching, its cargo bed overflowing with all manner of equipnt, items, and even piles of coins.
Felix’s eyes widened. "Whoa! So much loot!"
Blaze chuckled. "This is nothing. Look over there…"
Felix followed Blaze’s pointing finger and gazed into the distance—where the ground shimred with countless glittering objects, a breathtaking sea of treasures stretching as far as the eye could see.
Holy smokes! The fields are sprouting gear!
