Chapter 520: Chapter 231: It Really Wasn’t (Two-in-One ga Chapter)
Underground hall.
Facing Alonso, the bird-man creature flapping its wings as it swiftly attacked.
Rein pulled out a scroll surging with air energy from within his chest, which was the Sorcery Scroll ‘Summon Hurricane’ he had obtained from Adams and had long possessed.
As Rein tore the scroll, instantly, a hurricane containing powerful energy swept towards Alonso, the newly transford bird-man.
Since Alonso had just been affected by the power of the Evil God and had beco one with wings, his body was still adapting to the control of the wings. He could accelerate quickly in straight lines, but to fly agilely up and down would take so ti.
Instantly, under the strong influence of the hurricane, the bird-man Alonso was struck and rolled 360 degrees in the air, his entire body buffeted wildly by the wind.
...
“Swoosh!”
Just as he barely stabilized his form, a silver arc of sword light flashed by!
At this mont Alonso, although still in mid-air, had his wings beginning to stall.
A gash appeared from his left neck, slanting down across his chest and abdon, all the way to his right flank!
With a “sssst” sound, like that of a high-pressure water gun firing, blood gushed out!
“Plop! Plop!”
What followed were two sounds of heavy objects hitting the ground!
The bisected corpse fell almost simultaneously to the floor… with various body fluids and organs scattered all around!
And the two segnts of the body that had fallen to the ground seed unwilling, as if they wanted to do sothing more, but what followed was rely violent twitching of so limbs!
However…
As life ebbed away, the power of the Evil God seed to dissipate as well, and Alonso’s pitch-black eyes began to change, showing whites once again.
At the sa ti, sothing like clarity seed to return to his eyes.
He managed to give Rein a look, his eyes filled with a mixture of resentfulness, regret, and frustration, and the next second, his lips muttered twice before he took his last breath…
Rein glanced at the dead Alonso and imdiately refocused his attention on the Black Fla High Priest, whose aura was undergoing dramatic changes!
Because Rein could clearly feel that the opponent’s aura was escalating, erupting like a volcano.
At the sa ti, the originally stout body of the Black Fla High Priest, over two ters tall, was rapidly expanding…
Two ters fifty…
Three ters…
Three ters fifty…
Suddenly, the intensity of this aura surpassed everyone Rein had ever t, including Captain Baron, Count Habs, and other Peak Knights, seemingly stepping into a higher realm all at once!
…
—————–
Outside the black energy barrier.
The shield-bearing strongman gestured to Rudolph, “Don’t waste your scrolls, leave it to !”
The strongman suddenly unstrapped the shield on his back, revealing a secret: embedded within the interior of the shield was a platinum-colored staff about 1.2 ters in length.
Holding the platinum staff, he muttered sothing and then hurled it at the black barrier with all his might!
In an instant, the platinum staff burst into a dazzling white light, and a mighty and majestic aura spread out, completely countering the just-a-bit of the Evil God’s will!
Watching the staff resembling a streak of white lightning strike the black energy barrier, Rudolph was shocked!
He murmured as he watched this spectacle, “Could this be the Imperial Staff?”
“Of course not, this is just a replica of the staff of His Majesty the Emperor,” said the man holding a short wand nonchalantly.
“Compared to the true Imperial Staff, its power is less than one percent, but it’s more than enough to deal with this projection of the Evil God’s will!”
“Crack!” The platinum staff effortlessly pierced through the defense of the black barrier, as simply as a hamr shattering an egg.
Then everyone watched as the platinum staff, like a teor streaking across the sky, shot with incredible speed toward a certain spot underground!
—————–
At that mont, Rein took out the leaf from his chest that he had kept but never used.
This leaf, which one could feel surging with potent life energy when held, was actually a special Sorcery Scroll, a gift from Anna’s aunt, the Elf Lady.
Rein positioned it in the most accessible spot.
Suddenly, the Lyth battle hound ‘Cookie’ quickly ran to Rein’s side. Rein thought for a mont, then picked up his battle bow again and drew one of the two remaining steel arrows.
Clearly, it was best to see if he could interrupt whatever was happening with the Black Fla High Priest in his current state.
Approaching with the greatsword for lee combat was too dangerous, whereas if he attacked from a distance, it was worth an attempt.
In fact, Rein had always been hesitant about how to allocate his newly acquired Skill Points as a Pharmacist. Should he enhance his Giant Bear Sword Technique or Blood Fury Archery?
On one hand, the Giant Bear Sword Technique was the first Combat Skill he had learned as a Transcendent, and he was very fond of it.
But ever since he mastered the secret technique level of Tokkal Hamr Technique, from the perspective of combat versatility, investing Skill Points into a similar lee combat skill would yield lower returns.
On the other hand, upgrading Blood Fury Archery, a ranged attack skill, could not only patch up his shortcoming in ranged combat but also, given the current circumstances, using archery to interrupt the Black Fla High Priest’s augntation was the safest option.
