"Hold the line, Lleu!" Vincent shouted. "Rember, your grandchildren are waiting in Midgard. Don't let these bastards pass through!"
All the Defenders of Midgard gritted their teeth as they dealt with waves upon waves of enemies trying to break the last Fortress standing.
Several factions had even ford an alliance in order to bring them down faster. They had already been fighting for three days straight without rest, and signs of exhaustion were evident among the Defenders.
'Shit!' Vincent cursed internally before watching the battle in the sky. 'This doesn't look good!'
The Progenitors were duking it out with each other, and even Ashdai, who was one of the strongest Progenitors of Midgard, was being pushed back by the three Progenitors who had tead up to face him.
Balthazar, the Supre Commander of the Fortress, stood on the ramparts as he faced off against multiple enemies at once.
With a slash of his swords, dozens of enemies were sliced apart. However, no matter how strong he was, he was starting to struggle lifting the sword in his hands due to exhaustion.
Suddenly, a cracking sound spread in the surroundings, making all the defenders look toward one side of the Fortress.
A mont later, the wall collapsed, and the enemies, who had been attacking that part, stord inside the Fortress like a swarm of bees going for the kill.
"Damn it!" Vincent roared as he jumped down to face the raging horde of Monsters.
He knew that the last fortress of Midgard shouldn't fall no matter what. Once they fell here, their world would have to face the invasion of the Otherworlders who ca from other planes of existence.
But just as Vincent was about to charge at the horde of monsters, a flaming dragon descended from the heavens and annihilated everything in its path.
"What took you so long?!" Vincent turned around to look at the Progenitor of Magic, who had disappeared half a day ago.
"What else?" Lady Hecate shrugged. "I brought the cavalry with ."
As soon as she said those words, several golden flashes of light appeared behind her.
Ethan and the others finally appeared in the Lands of Saraqael and imdiately saw the direness of the situation.
"Push them back!" Ethan ordered.
Imdiately countless portals appeared behind him.
The Fairies and the Gargoyles all surged forth like a tide, which made the Defenders cheer. At last, the Progenitor of Magic had indeed brought the cavalry with her.
Ethan's entire entourage charged at the broken wall, annihilating everything in their path.
Seff, who had felt powerless when fighting against Progenitors in the past, fought like a killing machine, slicing everything in his path into two.
While he still couldn't fight against Progenitors, everyone else was fair ga, including the Colossi who were unlucky enough to block his path.
Professor Barret summoned his Chained Paragon, who unleashed its spiked wrecking ball towards the gap in the wall, blocking the wave of monsters from pouring inside the fortress.
Balthazar, who saw his grandson charging in the battlefield, felt as if a refreshing breeze was blowing over his body, allowing him to regain his strength and stamina.
Though this wasn't really so kind of illusion.
Princess Ariel had summoned the Cauldron of Dagda, which amplified her healing abilities, granting the Defenders increased regeneration and recovery for injuries that they had suffered in battle.
The Stone of Destiny in Chloe's hands, flashed several tis, sending beams of light towards the people whom it recognized as True Kings.
These beams of light landed on Balthazar, Lleu, Vincent, Seff, and the other powerhouses of Midgard, drastically increasing their strength and fighting prowess.
A flash of light illuminated the battlefield as Cedric, who was wielding Claíomh Solais, brandished the sword of light, pushing back the darkness descending on the last bastion of Midgard.
Not far from him, a blazing blue cot zigzagged across the battlefield, obliterating everything in its path.
Ethan, who combined his Sea God's Trident and Areadbhair into one divine weapon, slaughtered his way to the frontlines of the battlefield.
The Progenitors fighting in the sky imdiately recognized the young man.
However, they didn't dare get close due to the aura that was pulsing around his body, making them hesitate.
They knew that Ethan was a perfect vessel they could use to gain more power, but none of them dared to co close to him now.
The reason?
It was because Ethan was no longer the weakling that he once was.
After fighting Zabab and absorbing his powers, Ethan could instantly step into the Progenitor Rank if he wanted to.
The smart Progenitors knew of this, but not all Progenitors were smart.
Most of them relied on brute strength and were confident they could capture the young man, who foolishly offered himself to them on a silver platter by coming to the frontlines of battle.
"You're mine!" A Progenitor, who was like a fat pig, greedily charged in Ethan's direction, intending to devour the young man and making his powers his own.
Ethan, who had been fighting the small fries earlier, glanced at the charging Progenitor, who was over twenty ters tall.
Pulling back the spear in his hand, the young man sneered as he unleashed the power of a Progenitor, which he could use freely at any mont.
"Endless Horizon!"
Ethan unleashed a single spear strike, which pierced through the Progenitor's body, destroying his core in a single strike.
The Fat Progenitor died instantly with a shocked expression on his greedy face.
Ethan didn't hesitate to devour the power of the Progenitor he killed, making the enemies in his surroundings shudder uncontrollably.
Although he only managed to kill the Progenitor with a single strike because his opponent had underestimated him, it didn't change the fact that he now had the power to kill Progenitors.
This made the different factions pay closer attention to him, with so even planning to team up against the young man.
They believed that no matter how strong Ethan was, he would still be incapable of fighting more than two Progenitors at once.
However, this was the tricky part. No one wanted to risk fighting him right now because he was an unpredictable variable.
He had just absorbed the power of the Fat Progenitor, and that ant he had beco stronger than before.
Although it would take so ti for him to consolidate the powers he had gained, no one wanted to take a gamble and test just how strong he had beco just now.
Seeing that no other Progenitors wished to fight him, Ethan continued his slaughter and fed his weapon with the fresh blood of his enemies, making Dantalion and Dainsleif, who had joined him in battle, laugh.
Their enemies didn't know that Ethan's Spirit Guide, Dantalion, was Ethan's Trump Card.
The stronger Ethan beca, the stronger Dantalion would also be.
As for the Ancient Wendigo, this kind of carnage and destruction was very suitable for its growth.
It absorbed the negative emotions in its surroundings, as well as feasted on the flesh and blood of the strong, allowing it to grow even stronger.
With a laugh filled with disdain, the Ancient Wendigo unleashed its Legacy of Gravity, pinning his enemies to the ground, including those who were flying in the sky.
The Defenders of Midgard were unaffected by his ability, so they didn't hesitate to hack the helpless enemies to death. Dainsleif's laugh grated on their enemies' ears.
But what could they do about it?
Even if the Progenitors wanted to kill the Ancient Wendigo, it was fighting in close proximity to Ethan.
If they team up, they would be able to easily kill a Progenitor, which made their combination very deadly.
The Legacy of Gravity wasn't a simple Legacy because it was a very powerful one.
It was a Law of the Universe that couldn't be denied, and everything had to bow down to it whether they liked it or not.
"Kill!" roared Vincent, who knew that they now had the upper hand. "Kill them all! Don't let anyone escape alive!"
The Defenders, who had recovered their morale, charged forth like madn who had been injected by steroids.
Earlier, they felt as if they were on their last legs, but now, they were the ones who were making the enemies tremble under their might.
Professor Rinehart chuckled as he unleashed his Resonance, keeping an eye on his teammates.
Right now, he was paying attention to any and all sneak attacks targeted at his people.
Even if the attack was from a Progenitor, the Headmaster of the Academy was confident he could block them all.
After all, his Resonance specialized in defense.
Gaeneron, on the other hand, strolled casually through the battlefield covered in blood.
His ability was to deny the enemy of their senses, so he deprived them of their sense of sight and hearing, making them all easy prey.
Edmond stood on the rampartsnand fired countless Ice Spears to the locations where the enemies were congregated.
He had deed that there was no need for him to go to the front lines, so he decided to beco a magic artillery, acting as support from the back lines, killing and maiming their enemies for the others to finish off.
This battle lasted for half a day before the enemies decided that continuing was futile.
They all sounded the warhorns of retreat then fled the battlefield like a receding tide.
The Defenders all raised their weapons and cheered because they erged victorious.
However, Ethan's casual words made them all look in his directions.
"Princess Ariel, heal everyone up," Ethan said. "An hour from now, we will counter attack and reclaim the territories we have lost."
"I like the sound of that," Princess Ariel replied, activating her power to encompass the entirety of the Fortress, giving strength to the exhausted defenders who thought that they could finally rest.
They didn't expect that Ethan would want to strike the iron while it was still hot, and push their advantage, reclaiming the lands that they had lost.
