Chapter 487: Chapter 256: Monster Eye Soup

Only at this mont did the sharp alarm sound from the front of the airship.

"All passengers please return to your cabins imdiately! Repeat, all passengers please return to your cabins imdiately!"

A tense male voice echoed across the entire deck through the airship’s broadcast system:

"A large number of harpies have been detected approaching, this is not a drill! All passengers must evacuate the deck area imdiately!"

The deck was instantly thrown into chaos, with passengers who had been leisurely enjoying the view suddenly jolted awake, looking around in panic.

When they saw the rapidly approaching dark shadows in the distance, fear quickly spread.

"Oh my god! There have to be at least dozens of them!" A middle-aged rchant shouted in terror, his binoculars dropping to the ground in fright.

"Run! Those damn creatures during mating season will drain a man dry!"

Another traveler, who seed knowledgeable about harpies, shouted a warning, dragging a friend beside them as they ran into the cabin.

In an instant, the deck was in chaos, n scrambling to escape, so even stumbling to the ground in panic and being trampled by those behind.

The airship staff tried to maintain order, but were quickly overwheld by the frantic crowd.

"Defense team! Imdiate assembly for the defense team!"

The airship’s security chief— a tall, middle-aged man— shouted, signaling the uniford defense team mbers to gather.

More than ten defense team mbers quickly gathered from various locations, each holding an energy spear.

These specially designed weapons could fire charged energy beams, specifically used to repel flying creatures like harpies.

But judging by their slightly pale faces and trembling fingers, they did not have much confidence in facing such a number of harpies.

"Captain, this number... there are at least forty!"

A young defense team mber reported nervously, his voice quivering slightly: "With our equipnt, we can at most handle a dozen or so!"

"There are two official wizards on the airship!"

The security chief said loudly, a glimr of hope flashing in his eyes:

"Quickly send soone to find them! Only wizards can handle an attack of this scale!"

"Imdiately execute!"

An older team mber imdiately responded, turning to the others: "Spread out, find those two wizards! Hurry!"

The defense team mbers quickly dispersed, beginning to search throughout the airship for traces of the two wizards.

anwhile, the harpies had already closed in to less than a hundred ters from the airship, their aggressively piercing shrieks cutting through the sky, chilling to the bone.

The ones in the front had already extended their sharp talons, eyes glowing with a crimson light, ready to tear apart any prey in their way.

"Prepare ergency defense asures! All crew mbers capable of using energy weapons, enter combat status imdiately!"

The several energy cannons on the airship began to adjust their angles, aiming at the swiftly approaching harpies.

However, everyone was aware that these weapons might not be very effective against so many targets.

"They’re about to crash into us!" soone scread, their voice filled with despair.

Just as the harpies were less than fifty ters from the airship, the situation on the field abruptly changed.

A peculiar lody suddenly sounded, like so ancient instrunt being lightly plucked in the void.

The sound was neither loud nor sharp, yet it penetrated the entire space in an incomprehensible way.

It seed to co from all directions and from a single point, spreading through the air in a way that transcended the conventional sound wave propagation laws.

At this mont, countless semi-transparent chains also appeared in the void, spreading layer upon layer like ripples in water, swiftly extending toward the approaching harpies.

These chains appeared delicate as silk, yet contained unimaginable power.

With lightning speed, they wrapped around the harpies’ bodies, binding those frenzied creatures securely in mid-air.

No matter how they struggled, they could not break free from this strange restraint.

"Is this... have the wizards taken action?"

An experienced old defense team mber, surveying the scene, let out a sigh of relief.

And when the first group of harpies was restrained, a sharp, slight vibration echoed in the air, like soone scraping their nails against glass.

This minute vibration rapidly spread through the air, forming a special echo effect.

Each echo was stronger and more penetrating than the last, forming a disturbing geotric growth effect.

The bound harpies let out sharp cries of agony, their voices filled with pain and despair.

Their bodies trembled under the invisible sound wave shock, feathers falling like rain, so even beginning to ooze blood from their mouths and noses.

More bizarrely, these sound waves, although powerful enough to destroy the organs of these extraordinary creatures, were precisely controlled to incapacitate rather than kill.

Each sound wave vibration aptly avoided vital points, yet was sufficient to completely deprive the targets of their combat abilities.

The entire process lasted less than half a minute, the once nacing flock of harpies almost entirely defeated, cascading from the sky like broken kites.

Strangely, however, although they had lost the ability to act, they all maintained weak life signs, simply falling into a state of unconsciousness.

"What... what kind of magic is this? Why didn’t we notice anything?"

The young defense team mber asked stamringly, his eyes filled with confusion.
