Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Mutation
Duke’s arm naturally wrapped around Vivian’s waist, pulling her tighter into his embrace.
Through the thin Wizard Robe, they could clearly feel each other’s body warmth and heartbeat.
Vivian’s hair, carrying a faint fragrance, brushed against Duke’s chin, slightly tickling him.
Duke tightened his arm, his palm feeling the curve of her slender waist through the fabric.
At tis like this, one could not help but feel a bit agitated, yet more than that, there was a sense of peace in his heart.
Coupled with the day’s exhaustion, a sense of sleepiness was inevitable at this mont.
For Duke and Vivian, as Level 1 Mages, resisting this drowsiness was naturally easy.
But at tis like this, they both preferred to enjoy the feeling of sleepiness approaching, soon slipping into a light sleep state.
Of course, they wouldn’t truly fall into a deep sleep, still maintaining alertness and attention to the outside world.
...
Unknown how much ti had passed, Duke suddenly felt a gust of wind blowing through, feeling chilly, even sensing so piercing cold.
He imdiately opened his eyes alertly, and Vivian did the sa, sensing sothing amiss.
The room’s broken windows had been sealed, even if there were leaks, none would be this considerable.
More importantly, given their physical constitution, they would hardly feel cold from a simple cold wind.
This was what alerted them, imdiately waking up from their half-asleep state.
Duke and Vivian stood up, discovering that the moonlight outside had sohow disappeared, engulfed in utter darkness.
"It’s a bit too quiet." Vivian keenly sensed the anomaly outside, hearing not a single sound.
Duke thought of sothing, retrieving the Control Talisman for the slave creatures.
He contacted the Earth Drake King using Spiritual Power but received no response and couldn’t sense its location either.
Originally, the Earth Drake King was arranged by him in the area outside the yard for vigilance, which was why he could take a nap.
With his and Vivian’s two Level 2 slave creatures as guards, it should theoretically be very safe.
Moreover, they had not entirely fallen asleep, so there was no real danger.
But unexpectedly, the two Level 2 slave creatures went missing, completely unsensed.
Not only that, even those common slave creatures vanished, all disappeared without a trace.
Duke opened the door, and together with Vivian, they went outside into the yard, where the scenery remained unchanged.
Yet sohow, everything felt unreal to Duke, like everything in front was deceitful.
Duke used Spiritual Power to touch the Divine Status of the God of Light within his mind, releasing a sensation of coolness.
He looked at the yard again, unchanged, proving that what lay before wasn’t an illusionary scene created from hallucination.
Even if this wasn’t the previous yard, it should be a place that truly exists.
Duke surrounded himself with a mass of yellow sand, protecting himself and Vivian within.
Vivian, knowing her strength well, instinctively moved closer; it wasn’t the ti for bravado, being beside Duke was safer.
Finding nothing in the yard, the two went onto the street outside.
Originally, there would be slave creatures patrolling the street for vigilance, but now...
The Rock Giants, crouching like hills on the sides; the Bat-winged Beasts, hovering low for vigilance; the Thornback Earth Dragons and Morbific Hounds scattered in the corners; all had vanished.
The whole town beca even more lifeless, a bone-chilling, absolute silence enveloping all.
Even the wind sound disappeared, yet the cold infiltrated deeper, as if penetrating the bones.
Sky transford bizarrely, the moon suspended high, yet the moonlight turned pale and hazy, like obscured by murky frosted glass, unable to bring any brightness, casting twisted, eerie shadows.
This resulted in the moonlight not descending, crafting a unique scene—moon high above, yet below pitch-black, void of moonlight.
"What’s going on?! Where’s our unit?!" Leonard and Ella burst out from the opposite house, alard, angrily searching around, trying to sense his slave creatures through the Control Talisman but receiving no response.
Ella tightly gripped her brother’s arm, instinctively feeling tense and fearful.
"No need to search." Duke’s voice was exceptionally calm, he raised his hand, pointing to the street’s end, "They are not here, or rather... we are not in the original place."
Following his gaze, in the bleak moonlight, distant town streets and house silhouettes began blurring and warping like a disturbed reflection in water.
Deeper, ominous darkness, like a living entity, gradually engulfed from all sides, devouring the ager remaining light.
Air filled with indescribable scent, like aged grave soil, decayed oil, a mix of cold tal odor.
All were knowledgeable Wizards, quickly recognizing it might be a separate space, spatial ripples confirming this.
"What’s going on here?" Leonard first looked to Duke, his tone carrying a questioning notion.
Duke rolled his eyes, smirked, "What? You think I’m causing trouble?"
Leonard realized this was unlikely, shifting to a more rational analysis of the surroundings.
Duke sniffed air scent, said, "I sll Erosion Body pollution."
Before, while heading to the Fifth Outpost, passing through the Erosion Body’s polluted region, he slled this scent.
Once again, he slled it, recalling instantly.
"Erosion pollution?" Vivian slightly frowned, "I’ve seen data about here before, there shouldn’t be an Erosion pollution area nearby, why suddenly?"
Duke shook his head, "Not sure, be cautious, Erosion pollution is rather troubleso, first try contacting the legion."
They talked independently, Leonard’s siblings feigned indifference but listened intently.
After a long pause, Leonard couldn’t hold back, asked, "What’s Erosion Body?"
The two of them ca without much understanding of the Devourer Plane’s intel, quickly glimpsing at the information, dismissing it into their Space Ring.
