Everything happened too suddenly. No one present noticed the abnormality of the soldier, and by the ti the others reacted, the great sword radiating cold light had already slashed down.

At the critical mont, the space around Rolf suddenly distorted, and a silent, bubble-like film appeared and wrapped him within.

High-level apprentice defensive magic: [Water Bubble].

Lynch’s all-out strike only managed to cause rippling water waves on the surface of the bubble, but Rolf beneath remained completely unhard.

However, Lynch’s offensive did not stop there.

"Boom!"

A ball of fire burst into fierce flas on the sword blade. Holding the sword erupting in fire, Lynch swung several more strikes.

As the fire t the bubble, sizzling sounds erupted, and under the extre heat, the bubble’s film bubbled like boiling water, white smoke rising with sizzles as the violent waves pushed Rolf several ters away.

Before Rolf could stabilize himself, the space around him distorted once more, as another forceful elental attack tried to tear through the surrounding bubble.

At the sa ti.

"Whizz!" A sharp piercing whistle burst forth.

A rapidly spinning white Bone Spear shot in from afar.

Zero-ring mid-level undead magic: [Bone Spear].

The Bone Spear originated from William Heim’s Undead Castle—it was the sa attack William Heim used to pierce through Lynch’s Multi-elent Shield before. Curious after the event, Lynch took the ti to research and successfully mastered it during this period.

Strictly speaking, this was not a conventional spell; it required a casting dium for its release, which ant pre-refining the Bone Spear. The strength of the spear directly determined the spell’s potency.

William Heim’s Bone Spear was crafted from a segnt of a Behemoth beast’s shinbone—considered comparable to a Second-tier Life Judge in resilience. This was precisely why it had such astounding power, effortlessly shattering Lynch’s High-level apprentice Multi-elent Shield.

Rolf’s legitimate High-level apprentice magic Water Bubble was naturally stronger in defense than Lynch’s mid-level apprentice magic. Yet, under the combined assault of [Space Distortion] and [Bone Spear], it exceeded its limits.

With a resounding "Boom!", the bubble-like film was blasted open, leaving a gap.

"Whoosh!"

The sound of the rushing wind echoed as Lynch appeared in front of Rolf once again.

"My lord!"

"My lord, be careful!"

The surrounding knights looked aghast.

Rolf’s gaze sharpened, several spells already charging.

"Clink!"

A crisp sound like shattered glass rang out, as a translucent object resembling a glass bottle slipped into the gap blown open in the Water Bubble. Following a sharp "Bang!", the bottle exploded.

Inside was a mysterious, viscous black liquid. As soon as the glass bottle shattered, this liquid splattered everywhere.

Rolf imdiately cast a Water Column to try and wash the liquid away. Strangely, the liquid seed impervious to Rolf’s spell, piercing through the Water Column and sprinkling over him like raindrops.

Suddenly, the liquid morphed into a series of black runes. As they flashed on Rolf’s body, they quickly disappeared.

’What is this? A curse? A mark?’

Rolf quickly distanced himself from Lynch, all the while working to restore his defensive magic and carefully examining his condition. Yet, no abnormalities could be detected. The markings seed to be so sort of imprint.

Marks were typically non-aggressive and complicated to dispel. After confirming they were not a type of curse, Rolf decided to temporarily set them aside.

His gaze returned to Lynch ahead.

Though the series of events seed lengthy in description, from Lynch’s sudden attack to their current separation, only a few breaths had passed.

It was only at this mont that Rolf genuinely laid eyes on the mastermind repeatedly sabotaging their plans.

He narrowed his eyes and asked, "What did you do to ?"

Lynch replied straightforwardly, "A mark."

Rolf sneered, "Is coughing up spit all you can do before dying?"

Lynch shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe it’s a death on."

Rolf couldn’t understand Lynch’s cryptic words, nor did he care to figure them out. Too much ti had already been wasted. Since he had found Lynch... Lynch must now die!

The battle erupted instantly.

Rolf raised his hand, producing a series of cracking sounds as a row of ice spikes materialized above him. With a quick gesture toward Lynch, the spikes shot forward swiftly.

The ice spikes moved at an incredible pace. Even with the agility of a mid-level knight, Lynch narrowly dodged them.

Just barely avoiding the spikes, Rolf imdiately clenched his hand.

Suddenly, the spikes, which had just missed Lynch and embedded themselves around him, emitted blinding blue light before erupting in a deafening "Boom!".

The earth was torn apart, ice shards mixed with soil scattering everywhere, leaving behind a crater over ten ters in diater.

But within the crater, Lynch was nowhere to be seen.

"Above!" a knight shouted.

Rolf instinctively looked up, spotting Lynch atop a nearby tree. Above, dark clouds rapidly gathered before releasing crackling lightning bolts straight toward him.

"Crackling sounds echoed!"

Dense purple lightning bit fiercely into Rolf’s bubble-like film, causing it to tremble incessantly and ripple with waves. Thunder Elent naturally had a partial advantage over Water Elent attributes.

Unfortunately, this elental counterbalance couldn’t overco the difference in magic levels. After a surge of ripples, the film finally steadied.

’It really is multi-elent refinent!’

Though impressed by Lynch’s abilities, Rolf didn’t halt his counterattack, snapping his right fingers swiftly.

A considerable amount of Water Elent rapidly gathered beside Lynch, forming a basketball-sized water ball before exploding in a torrent. The tree Lynch stood upon was obliterated upon impact, water droplets spraying furiously.

Rolf clenched his right hand again, freezing the scattered water droplets mid-air, quickly stretching them into thin Ice Needles.

With a casual wave of his hand, the multitude of Ice Needles surged toward Lynch.

Given their density, escape was impossible. Lynch could only hastily deploy his Multi-elent Shield. A cacophony of "Snap! Snap!" sounds rang out incessantly as the Ice Needles assaulted the shield, shaking it violently.

"Whoosh!"

No sooner had this wave of needles passed than a massive congregation of Water Elent gathered before Rolf, enough to make the sky seem as though it was raining. Within monts, a gigantic water sphere ford above Rolf’s head.

However, instead of hurling the water sphere, Rolf clenched his hand again. The sphere began compressing rapidly, shrinking to the size of a re droplet no larger than a thumb.

Lynch’s expression grew tense.

That seemingly ordinary droplet exuded incredibly intense elental fluctuations to his perception.

Without a word wasted, Rolf flicked the droplet toward Lynch.

"Whizz!"

The droplet traveled faster than space itself, appearing instantly in front of Lynch. His Multi-elent Shield lasted only a second before shattering, leaving the droplet unimpeded as it struck toward Lynch’s head.

Just at the critical mont, Lynch’s head mysteriously flickered, allowing the droplet to pass through harmlessly and strike the ground behind.

"BOOOOM!"

A thunderous explosion erupted.

The earth quaked violently, a massive crater 20 to 30 ters in diater forming in its wake. Dirt and grass flew everywhere, with thick mud accumulating at the bottom.

Rolf turned his head toward the crater’s edge.

There, Lynch crouched low on the ground, his clothing visibly damaged, his complexion slightly pale—but overall, he bore no significant injuries, still alive and well.

Rolf was astonished.

This mid-level apprentice’s techniques truly seed endless. Typical mid-level apprentices could manage one or two spells at best; not Lynch. From start to now, he had displayed several elental spells.

He had unleashed almost everything he had, yet Lynch survived his storm-like barrage of attacks. His resilience defied expectations.

"This ends now!" Rolf said coldly.

Resilience or not, it was nothing more than a futile struggle.

The gap between a High-level Apprentice and a Low-level Apprentice was insurmountable. The fight thus far had demonstrated that Lynch’s relentless efforts only allowed him to barely cope, offering no opportunity to counterattack. He had already poured every ounce of strength into his defense.

At this juncture, Lynch was certainly no match for Rolf.

"Lynch!"

Just as Lynch seed to be cornered, Avery suddenly rushed over.

Lynch frowned. "You..."

He wanted to say sothing, but sensing sothing off, he turned to glance at a distant point and swallowed his words.

He apologized, "Sorry, I lost."

The gap was undeniable.

Avery’s eyes reddened slightly. She forced a smile and said, "You are the bravest warrior I’ve ever t!"

After a pause, she added, "Leave this to ."

She stepped forward and then turned to face Rolf. "I will die here, but before that..."

She glanced backward, her lips moving slightly as though to say sothing, but the words seed to stick in her throat. At this point, she decided not to burden anyone’s future.

Turning to Rolf, she continued, "Let him leave. I will offer enough in return."

But—

Rolf decisively said, "I refuse."

Avery beca flustered.

But before she could negotiate further, Rolf unleashed another row of ice spikes.

"Bang!"

A great sword quietly appeared before Avery, sweeping forth and deflecting all the ice spikes.

Lynch stood beside Avery again, shielding her.

Rolf was stunned—how did he still have strength?

Rolf wasted no ti, raising his hand to summon once more the terrifying water sphere. It rapidly coalesced again.

Without flinching, Lynch stood firmly in front of Avery.

Tears silently stread down Avery’s face.

She whispered, "Enough."

She shouted, "It’s enough already!"

She tugged at Lynch, crying, "Run away, don’t worry about . You’ve already done more than enough!"

"We..."

She spoke faintly, "We’ve already lost."

But Lynch’s response was—

"Run?"

He sneered, "Why should we run?"

He looked at Rolf ahead, his eyes devoid of fear, but brimming with playfulness and anticipation.

"Besides,"

"It’s only who lost, not us."

Rolf didn’t understand.

He seriously couldn’t comprehend why, at this point, this mid-level apprentice continued to persist.

Before he could dwell further, suddenly—

"Whoosh!"

A gust of chilly wind blew through the forest, sending shivers down Rolf’s spine as though a ferocious predator had fixed its gaze on him.

In the next mont—

A low chuckle arose behind him. "Heh heh heh—Caught you!"

Simultaneously, a massive mouth inexplicably appeared behind Rolf, devouring the large water sphere he had just conjured and half of his body...
