K Agent put the data bag into the safe and picked up the stationary communicator on the table.

"What’s happening outside?"

"A category two invasion, the task force has already gone to handle it, you don’t need to worry."

With the answer, K Agent hung up the communicator and returned to her seat. The cold light from the chandelier shone on her face, making her already unsettled heart even more agitated.

"Damn it, can’t the logistics guys add an adjustable switch to the lights?"

For confidentiality and security reasons, none of the buildings of the Control Bureau have windows. From the outside, the buildings of the Control Bureau look like giant concrete monunts. Therefore, there is no natural light inside the Control Bureau, all light cos from the ubiquitous artificial lamps.

K Agent took out a box of sothing similar to cigarettes from her pocket, took one out, ignited it with a snap of her fingers, and then placed it on the tip of her nose. The curling smoke followed her breath into her respiratory organs, and the calming substances, as well as hallucinogenic substances contained in the smoke, gradually cald her inner turmoil.

Calming Incense, an essential for action agents of the Control Bureau. Spending years facing those strange monsters inevitably pollutes their spirit; Calming Incense is their preferred solution when their inner peace is disturbed.

Bang!

Yet another tremor.

But this ti the amplitude was clearly bigger than the previous one, causing the chandelier in K Agent’s room to sway slightly.

"It seems this invasion is quite tricky."

K Agent sat in her chair, gazing dreamily at the chandelier overhead.

Invasion, the most common disaster after a cataclysm. Invasions are divided into three categories. The first is natural disaster invasions, like space storms and elental storms. The second category is biological invasions, which involve powerful Otherworld creatures accidentally or intentionally entering their world.

The third category is environntal invasion, which is the rarest. This type of invasion directly adds a piece of land to their world, invariably attracting a scramble from various forces.

Outside, experts claim invasions are sporadic natural phenona, historically ongoing with periodicity. Currently, they are in a high-frequency cycle, so invasion frequencies have increased. Yet as an internal agent of the Control Bureau, K Agent knows these are just reassuring lies.

There has never been cyclicality; the frequency of invasions is getting faster.

Boom!

The room’s violent shaking roused K Agent from her trance.

She stood up abruptly, her expression as solemn as an iron statue soldier. Simultaneously, the communicator on her desk rang out.

Picking up the communicator, a man’s steady voice ca through the receiver.

"K Agent, fourth level agent from L-1 base, you can call Anderson. From the info, I see you’re an action agent. Now, I need you to assist the task force at the invasion site with handling the invaders."

K Agent slightly furrowed her brow: "What’s the invasion rating this ti?"

"Third level, with potential to evolve into fourth level. So, take your project with you."

"... I understand."

Without delay, K Agent imdiately went to the safe, opened it again. It didn’t contain much besides the docunt she just placed, only a short sword, a pendant, a nail, and Project 1275.

K Agent took out the first three items, hesitating a bit when seeing Project 1275.

"Forget it, take it."

K Agent hesitated for a mont, ultimately deciding to take out Project 1275. Besides unknown properties, Project 1275’s defense feature as inner armor is quite excellent.

Gathering her project, K Agent walked out of the room, reached the end of the hallway, and entered an elevator.

With the sound of chanical operation, K Agent’s position began to rapidly ascend. Soon, the elevator door opened. Bright sunshine shone on K Agent’s face, making her squint involuntarily.

Not far from the Control Bureau, a gigantic snake-like Magic Beast over a hundred ters long was constantly rampaging through the city. Around it, the Invasion Task Force had tily evacuated personnel, and task force mbers were blocking and guiding the Magic Beast.

Taking a deep breath, K Agent stepped out, her body suddenly soared skywards, leaving a cloud of sonic boom behind as she rapidly flew towards the Magic Beast.

...

Boom!

The gigantic tail of the Magic Beast swept once, turning a motorcycle into a fireball. Task force mbers held specialized Source Energy Weapons, with rounds wrapped in Source Energy able to easily penetrate homogeneous steel plates dozens of centiters thick, yet on the Magic Beast, it only produced sparks, not causing any harm.

In the sky, the machine guns carried by ard helicopters were continuously firing. Source Energy Shells rained on the Big Snake. Although not causing any massive damage, the intense pain made the Big Snake emit a series of painful low-frequency roars.

Bang!

The giant serpent suddenly coiled its body and then shot its head out like lightning. The helicopter couldn’t dodge in ti and was bitten right through, exploding into a fireball inside the serpent’s mouth.

"Support, we need support."

The captain of the task force shouted into the portable communicator on his chest while using a gigantic gun akin to a machine cannon to draw the serpent’s attention.

"Zzz... Support is already on the way."

As the communicator’s voice sounded, the captain suddenly saw a teor falling from the sky and crashing into the serpent with unstoppable force.

"What the hell is that?"

Exclamations of disbelief ca through the task force’s communicator, as if they had seen sothing unimaginable. However, as a special task force handling invasion disasters, they were supposed to be the most knowledgeable people in this world.

Next to the giant serpent.

Agent K gripped a project-transford long knife in hand, eyes cold as a robot’s.

As a third-level action agent, she had the authority to use projects to enhance her combat power. The four projects she used were Project 111 — Weapon Master, a small knife that could transform into any weapon; Project 456 — Iron Heart, a heart-shaped pendant that allowed the user to think rationally and without emotion; Project 784 — Restriction Nail, a ten-centiter coffin nail; and Project 1275 — Demon Contract.

"Quite unique."

Under the influence of the Iron Heart, Agent K had no negative or positive emotions toward the serpent in front of her, only calm analysis and thought.

Although this serpent seed to be just a third-level invasion entity, she sensed a special aura on it. That aura seed to emanate from its bloodline, and just its presence made her body involuntarily fear. Yet, as a third-level action agent, her combat power should be at the apex of this world, second only to entities like the Director of Action Bureau.

Moreover, at the mont of contact, she had driven the Restriction Nail into the serpent’s body. But now, the serpent hadn’t completely stiffened, only slightly slowed down.

"A spawn of the World Master?"

The thought flashed through Agent K’s mind. But quickly, she dismissed it and comnced her operation — regardless of the magic beast’s origins, it was now an invading nace that needed to be slain.

Agent K slightly bent her legs, her body flickering like lightning among the buildings around the serpent. The serpent coiled its body, its massive vertical pupils cautiously scanning the environnt.

Suddenly, the serpent’s head snapped back, a cold glint slicing through below its chin, instantly cutting a two-ter-long gash. Such a strike on a human would be enough to halve them and more.

Crimson snake blood dripped from the wound, enveloping the entire battlefield in a strange fragrance.

The serpent roared with rage, its originally coiled body moving again, its enormous tail whipping toward Agent K like a whip, but she nimbly dodged and inflicted another wound.

A faint light glowed on the serpent’s body, and suddenly a strong wind began to blow across the battlefield. The wind grew stronger and stronger until it turned into a massive tornado. Countless tiny wind blades swirled in the wind, tearing anything that entered it into shreds in an instant.

"A talent, huh? Worth recording."

Agent K’s expression remained unchanged, or rather, she no longer had the ability to change it at this mont.

Project 111 continuously lengthened in her hand, eventually transforming into a giant long knife over five ters in length. She lightly cut her finger on the blade, which quickly turned a pale red as if ink had dripped onto it.

Agent K gripped the knife with both hands, lowered her body, and adjusted the flow of energy within her. At the mont the stance was completed, the whole world seed to freeze in Agent K’s eyes.

In the next instant, a flash of cold steel sliced through the air.

The serpent’s head flicked its tongue, as if puzzled by what had occurred. But within the next second, it slowly slid to the ground. From the smooth, mirror-like cut, blood spurted out like a fountain.

Agent K stood silently in a building behind the giant serpent, tearing the Iron Heart from her body.

As a third-level action agent of the Control Bureau, using any project was against the rules outside of missions. But just as she was about to return to the Control Bureau, a loud crashing sound and a shockwave sent her flying.

Outside the building, an enormous python with a head the size of a three-story building was slowly entering this world through a spatial rift.

It arrived next to the fallen serpent, a trace of sorrow in its eyes. A low-frequency sound wave emitted from its mouth, and in the next mont, everything within a twenty-kiloter radius — all mortals were spitting blood, their organs shattered. mbers of the task force writhed in pain from the sound wave, with only Agent K barely able to maintain her combat capability.

But... as Agent K gazed at the gigantic python slowly entering the world, a deep despair surged within her heart.

This size, this aura, there was no mistaking it.

This was undoubtedly one of the cataclysmic disaster beasts from another world — a World Master!

And sensing Agent K’s despair, Project 1275 in her arms suddenly emitted a spiritual ssage.
