Chapter 49: Chapter 42: Krimms Cathedral

"I... I’d better not," Wei’en declined.

He was on a mission at the Cathedral. It would be a disaster if an accident happened and implicated Kali.

Kali, thinking he was worried about troubling her, offered a warm smile. "Wei’en, I really don’t mind..."

"Kali, you don’t want to be Wei’en’s guide? Wonderful!"

Yuan stepped directly between them, glaring at Wei’en. "Why haven’t you hurried over to the Cathedral yet?"

His stern gaze and the slight twitch of his lips radiated a dangerous aura, as if to say: Watch your words, kid.

Wei’en smiled sheepishly. "Uncle Yuan, Sister Kali, I’ll head to the Cathedral now."

He quickly pulled Tina along and turned to leave.

’If I stay any longer, I’m afraid Yuan will knock

out with a single punch.’

"Wait, Wei’en?" Kali reached out, wanting to persuade him again. "Won’t you reconsider..."

But Yuan turned and blocked her. "See? Wei’en doesn’t want you to be his guide either."

"Father, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?" Kali looked at him, pouting. "I haven’t even guided a new believer of the Dawn yet..."

"There will be plenty of chances in the future,"

Yuan gave a hollow laugh, trying to change the subject. "What do you want for dinner? I’ll make it for you. How about so Deep Sea Ao-shark sashimi? It was your favorite when you were little."

’She can guide anyone, but Wei’en—ab-so-lute-ly not!’

That was a Wizard, and a Wizard from the Ghost Soul School, famous for toying with life and death.

’I’d have to be an idiot to believe Wei’en is a follower of the Dawn.’

"I have to get to school," Kali said with a pout. "Besides, how co I don’t rember eating Deep Sea Ao-shark when I was little?"

With that, she walked around Yuan and headed in another direction.

Today, she was determined to complete her first guided offering. She believed that doing so would make the Dawn even happier.

"Be safe,"

Yuan watched her retreating figure, his brow furrowed slightly. ’But it really was your favorite...’

...

...

When Wei’en and Tina arrived at the outskirts of Krimms Cathedral, he instructed, "Tina, take this back to the Secret Investigation Departnt for . I’ll return later tonight."

The white-haired girl nodded obediently. "Tina understands."

Wei’en handed her the box, ruffled her hair, and said, "Trust , we’ll see each other again soon."

Tina squinted, seemingly enjoying the warmth of his touch.

"Go on."

"Tina will go."

After she was a good distance away, Wei’en looked around, found an empty corner, and drank the bottle of Dawn Radiance Potion.

"Tsk, so bitter."

’I thought the ball of light in the Magic Potion would be tasteless. I didn’t expect it to be this bitter.’

Not only that,

As the Magic Potion entered his stomach, Wei’en’s entire body went numb, to the point he couldn’t even move a finger.

"Dawn is eternal!"

’Is this... Dawn?’

A furious roar echoed in his ears, his head buzzed, and everything around him began to blur.

After a long mont, Wei’en shook his head and ca back to his senses.

An indescribable power now existed in his body, like a shackle locking him down.

[You have consud a Magic Potion containing the Power of Faith. Your origin has fallen silent, and a portion of your Spiritual Power is temporarily sealed. Evaluation: Stu****. Special Reward: Survival Points

5, Spirit Level 10 (Temporarily Sealed: 1 hour).]

’So the Dawn Radiance Potion has this kind of side effect?’

Wei’en stared blankly at the notification as a wave of exhaustion and helplessness washed over him.

At the sa ti, he could clearly feel that his perception of his surroundings had weakened.

He seed to have thought of sothing. He looked over and was stunned to find that the two heads had also closed their eyes.

’Xiaoxi fell asleep too?’

’Did my Origin falling silent cause its sub-body to fall silent as well?’

’Looks like this Magic Potion’s side effects are far more severe than I imagined...’

Wei’en glanced at his panel with a wry smile. Confirming that his Spirit Level was sealed, the Spiritual Power he could now use had been cut by a third.

Hm?

’What’s this?’

’A new skill appeared under the Companion Contract?’

[Companion Transfer: Intense feelings of longing for your companion allow you to instantly appear by their side.]

’A teleportation skill?’

After reading the skill description, it dawned on Wei’en that this was the ability Tina had used to appear in his room last night.

’Intense feelings of longing...?’

’I can’t believe Tina feels that way about . We’ve known each other for less than a day...’

’Still, getting a skill like this is a good thing. At least it gives

another escape route.’

’Of course, that’s assuming I can feel an intense longing for Tina, too...’

"Wei’en, what’s wrong?"

Just then, a voice ca from behind him.

Wei’en heard the familiar voice and turned around weakly. "Sister Kali? I-I’m fine, just suddenly feeling a little tired."

’Looks like Yuan’s plan failed... I guess I can’t be blad for this, then.’

"Are you sick?"

Kali reached out and touched his forehead, her eyes filled with confusion. "Your temperature is normal. Wei’en, didn’t you sleep well last night?"

"I... I guess so."

Wei’en forced a smile. "But, I believe the Dawn’s radiance will shine upon its believers. I’m sure I’ll be fine once we’re in the Church District."

’I’ve already drunk the Magic Potion and the side effects have kicked in. The mission has to continue...’

"You’re right," Kali seed to love that sentint. She ca forward and took Wei’en’s arm. "Co on, I’ll take you over to the Cathedral."

Wei’en could only nod. Supported by Kali, he made his way toward the Krimms Cathedral area.

’Sigh, I really didn’t want to trouble her.’

’But in my current state, I’m lucky I can even walk. Entering the Cathedral and finishing the mission is going to be incredibly difficult.’
