Chapter 109: Chapter 106: Danger!!

Allen slowly turned his head back, feigning a look of confusion.

But an icy chill shot up Allen’s spine, straight to the crown of his head.

Allen was certain it wasn’t a hallucination. It was a primal tremor, a biological instinct, as if he were being dissected inch by inch by the gaze of an apex predator, seconds away from being torn to shreds.

He didn’t run right away.

With DSeek’s assistance, Allen’s mind suppressed all his body’s primal panic in less than a tenth of a second.

’Run? Where would I run?’

’In front of an enemy who can perfectly conceal itself and has already locked onto , turning to run is suicide.’

His gaze remained fixed ahead, his body still leaning against the tree trunk. He didn’t make a single superfluous movent, as if he hadn’t noticed the abnormality behind him at all.

Only the frantically flashing red alert on the "Observer" lens of his right eye proved that this current calm was rely a facade before death.

[Attempting secondary confirmation...]

[Thermal imaging: No anomalies.]

[Magic Power spectrum scan: No anomalies.]

[Conclusion: Target possesses near-perfect energy insulation and environntal simulation capabilities.]

DSeek’s feedback was instantaneous, but every word made Allen’s heart sink a little deeper.

Optical imaging, thermal sensing, Magic Detection—all these conventional detection thods were useless against this unknown enemy.

If DSeek hadn’t captured its presence through logical deduction, he probably would have died without ever knowing where the enemy ca from.

’What the hell is this thing?’

’How could a monster of this level be in the Silent Forest?’

Allen’s right hand hung casually at his side, but his Spiritual Power had already reached into his Space Ring, feeling a cold, spherical object marked with arcing patterns.

A Lightning Type-I Grenade.

It was his only hope of breaking this stalemate.

’Conventional physical attacks and fire are probably aningless against an enemy whose very form can’t be perceived.’

’But electricity is different. As long as it’s a life form made of energy or matter, it can’t be completely immune to the shock of high-voltage electricity.’

’Even if it can’t cause damage, buying just one second will be enough.’

In one second, he could activate the [Sub-Flash Scroll], instantly creating a fifteen-ter gap, and then directly use a [Rapid Flight Scroll] to escape.

Ti trickled by. The forest was terrifyingly silent.

The malicious gaze never faded. The enemy seed very patient, as if enjoying its prey’s final struggle.

Allen was waiting, too.

He was waiting for the Demon Eye to adjust its angle.

High in the sky, the black sphere had stopped its patrol and was now silently aiming at Allen’s position from another, more oblique angle.

["Demon Eye" in position. High-resolution spectral scan initiated.]

On the "Observer" lens, a close-up, top-down view from the sky appeared.

In the Demon Eye’s maximum detection mode, a subtle, incongruous depression on the seemingly empty patch of grass behind him was subjected to deep analysis by DSeek.

It was a pair of footprints!

’It’s right there.’

A bipedal creature.

’An intelligent being? Or so kind of humanoid monster with extrely strong mimicry abilities?’

The instant he analyzed the depression, the entity seed to sense the prying gaze from the sky.

A few blades of grass moved, springing up lightly.

No sound, no warning!

’It’s coming!’

Allen’s adrenaline spiked to its peak.

He lunged forward, his Craftsman’s Hand and Magic Shield instantly protecting his back. At the sa ti, his right hand whipped out the "Lightning Type-I" Grenade. He bypassed the fuse, directly ignited the charge, and hurled it viciously behind him!

The entire sequence of movents was lightning-fast, without a hint of hesitation.

The invisible monster seed not to have expected Allen would dare to counter-attack.

The mont the grenade left his hand, it tried to dodge; several patches of grass rustled violently.

’Too late.’

’Three seconds? That’s for other people,’ Allen snorted inwardly.

He wouldn’t give an enemy ti to react to sothing he’d made for himself.

The grenade had barely left his hand when it exploded with a ROAR!

ZAP!

A blinding flash of electricity instantly engulfed the area. Blue-white serpents of lightning danced wildly between the tree trunks and the ground, crackling and popping loudly.

The electric light finally revealed a shadowy mass.

It was a monster that looked like a mass of congealed shadow and flowing black mist, and wrapped within it were countless writhing, crimson pupils that faded in and out of view.

By this point, however, Allen had already taken out the [Sub-Flash Scroll].

Without the slightest hesitation, he activated it!

...

DRIP.

That was the sound of a drop of cold sweat falling onto Allen’s clothes.

Allen’s body was frozen, still in the posture of activating the [Sub-Flash Scroll].

’How is this possible?’

The [Sub-Flash Scroll] had actually failed at this critical mont!

Allen’s eyes widened, his heart seeming to stop. He could only stare blankly ahead.

The monster made of black mist had co to an abrupt halt right in front of him!

It didn’t attack, nor did it make any sound.

The distorted black mist began to contract inward. Light and shadow swirled and converged, like paints poured into a vortex.

From within the once-ethereal silhouette, sothing was rapidly "growing."

First, the outline of a skeleton, followed by deep red muscle tissue, then skin covered in strange patterns, and finally, clothes.

The whole process was enough to make one’s skin crawl.

In the end, a tall human figure stood there.

He wore a well-tailored, dark, close-fitting outfit. Beneath his short black hair was a carapace-like faceplate, revealing only a pair of eyes with shimring, golden vertical pupils.

His skin was bronze, and on his exposed neck and the back of his hands, one could see fine, scale-like patterns.

He was just standing there casually, yet the suffocating pressure that had nearly choked Allen didn’t lessen—it intensified.

The man raised his head. His golden, vertical pupils first glanced in the direction of the "Demon Eye" high in the sky before falling back to Allen.

"An interesting little thing."

His voice was deep and magnetic, seeming to vibrate the very air.

"Not only could you detect , but you could also use that little iron ball to observe

from another angle. Are all the new students from the Alchemy School this capable nowadays?"

Allen’s brain finally started working again.

The mont the man spoke, Allen understood.

This wasn’t so monster, but an Official Wizard from the Bloodline School.

A true powerhouse, soone whose strength he couldn’t possibly fathom.

The "malice" that had locked onto him wasn’t killing intent at all; it was just the "aura" of an apex predator, unconsciously emitted by the man.

"Junior Allen Wesren, it is an honor to et you, Your Excellency."

Allen retracted the [Sub-Flash Scroll] and bowed slightly, performing a standard Wizard Apprentice’s salute.

His movents were still a bit stiff, a testant to the fright he had just received.

The Wizard studied him with his golden, vertical pupils. "Allen Wesren? I’ve heard of you. To be able to create a reconnaissance chanical Body like this in your first year at the Black Tower... that old geezer rcer certainly took on a decent student."

’He actually knows Master rcer?’
